A comforting thought
Five thousand years ago, the Sumerians called the night ngi, the stars mul, and the moon Nanna.
Four thousand years ago, the Akkadians called the night mūšu, the stars kakkabū, and the moon Sîn.
Three thousand years ago, the Hittites called the night išpanza, the stars haštereš, and the moon Arma.
Two and a half thousand years ago, the Greeks called the night nux, the stars astra, and the moon Selênê.
Two thousand years ago, the Romans called the night nox, the stars stellae, and the moon Luna.
Kings and queens and heroes looked up at them. So did travelers coming home, and little children who sneaked out of bed. So did slaves, and mothers and soldiers and old shepherds, and Sappho and Muršili and Enheduanna and Socrates and Hatshepsut and Cyrus and Cicero. In this darkness it didn’t matter who they were, or where they stood. Only that they were human.
Think of that tonight, when you close your window. You are not alone. You share this night sky with centuries of dreamers and stargazers, and people who longed for quiet. Are you anxious? The Hittites were too: they called it pittuliyaš. Does your heart ache? The Greeks felt it too: they called it akhos. Those who look up to the stars for comfort are a family, and you belong to them. Your ancestors have stood under Nanna, Sîn, Arma, Selênê and Luna for five thousand years. Now its light is yours.
May it soothe you well.

au where in the middle of having his secret identity compromised, Dick covers by claiming he admired the Flying Graysons and they were his inspiration to become an acrobat, maybe they even taught him a thing or two before their deaths, and part of why Batman is so protective of Bruce Wayne is because the last Flying Grayson is his ward and Robin doesn’t want anymore harm to come to that family everyone buys it and it’s the solid titanium shielding on the Batfam’s identities, because the best lies are 90% truth and a little misleading information about your identity, given away in confidence, is a thousand percent more compelling than cold facts. and then he has to deal with everyone trying to get him to go meet Dick Grayson since he’s such a fan and everyone thinks it’s so cute how such a famous and popular hero has an admiration!crush on this kid
Edit//: And then Tim Drake shows up as Robin and the story is changed to “okay, look. This whole goddamn family is secretly a Dick Grayson fanclub, but can you really blame us?”

like… to be an idealistic young “head in the stars” dreamer from a backwater planet…to join up with the rebellion and fight the opppressive power…to slice across the galaxy in your rattley old x wing (and maybe fall in love with someone on your squadron while you’re at it)….to wear a sexy orange flight suit… that’s really it. that’s the dream folks

things writers can (probably) relate to
-making the facial expression your character’s making and trying to describe it
-writing entire scenes in your head as you shower and not remembering most of it by the time you get to your computer
-deciding you can’t do something you’ve been looking forward to until you write what you told yourself you were going to write, resulting in you laying in your bed doing nothing
-having two completely different ideas for your story to go in and both seem equally good but you can’t do both and you also can’t choose
-having docs with stories you know you’ll never finish but not deleting them anyway, even if they’re only a couple sentences long
-getting random bursts of productivity that could go towards homework or cleaning your room or writing and you know you’ll only be able to do one
-getting inspiration from the most random things
-writing at inopportune times because a perfect line or dialogue just popped into your head and you have to get it down before you forget it
-“what are you writing?” “……..a story”
- “what do you want to do when you grow up?” “uunnghnnggguughhhhh”
-reveling in the embarrassment you put your characters through

Batman headcanon that once the Batkids kind of start thinking of settling down and having/adopting kids, they come to a realization. If they all get kids around the same time, they’ll be about the same age and once they get older, only one of them can be that generations Robin. So begins the great feud.
It becomes a scramble on who can have a kid first and name the kid Robin/Robyn to cement the title (It’s Dick in the end, Jay is the first to have kids but his are adopted and, thus, have names already). They all suck up massively to Bruce. “look how accomplished my son is, wouldn’t you say he’s sidekick material??” “Bruce look how fast my girl solved that mystery! It looks like you have another detective to train.” And through all this Bruce is just sweating. He loves all his Batgrandbabies, how can he possibly choose one to be his partner?
So the time comes when all the kids are trained and ready, specializing in their chosen areas and looking up at Grandpa with proud, nervous faces. They can still be vigilantes if they aren’t chosen, but being Robin is something special. Bruce can’t stand their sad faces, so that’s how an older Batman takes to the streets with like eight goddamn Robins trailing behind them all decked out in varying costumes of red, yellow, green and black. He explains he’s old, he could use the extra help out there, really he couldn’t say no to any of those precious kids. So what started out as a lone quest many, many years ago has become a bright menagerie of bright smiles and whooshing capes and loving whispers of ‘grandpa’ when no one else can hear. Everyone is happy expect probably the rogues and I’m sure Child Protection Services isn’t pleased either.

I think the Avengers cinematic series lost it’s appeal pretty much the same second I realized the directors were never going to make the team be friends

The Titans are the best team. Like, sure, if you pick a fight with one, it means you’ll have everyone else that’s ever been on the team coming to kick your ass, but also, if one of them drops off the face of the planet and doesn’t answer their phone, the rest of the team will call their dad.

it drives me insane that so much discourse on here is like. someone says “wow, it’s alarming that american college culture makes it seem like partying is compulsory,” and then someone else responds “agreed OP, and I actually think that anyone who has ever partied in their life is a worthless loser sack of shit” (which is not at all what the first person said), which then prompts someone else to overcorrect for the second person’s bad opinion by saying “actually if you don’t smoke weed constantly you’re a prude and a reactionary” and it’s like. really guys.
