He grabs a paper towel hastily and starts dabbing his eyes a lot. He knows how he probably looks right now. He stays quiet, even if it was apparent there was someone sobbing just a moment ago.

Cor’s sniffling goes on for a good while, and he brings himself to calm down finally. He brings his knees to his chest, and brings his head down. He doesn’t respond.

There was a pause, and Regis sits and rests with his back to the door. An attempt was made, yes, but he knew Cor would not take the offer. Things took time, he had to tell himself, and time was always against him. 

“It’s alright,” He wouldn’t dare try to open the door, not if Cor wasn’t ready. It would be done on his friend’s terms, he would not rush him. “I’ll be here when you’re ready, okay?”

To lose was one thing, and to see the Chancellor stand before him was another. Hands were bound behind his back, thick ropes biting into his skin as he pulled them. Magic elluded him, he would not be able to summon a weapon to aid him. Not that he would get very far if he could, no, it was a foolish decision for him to try. 

“Is this a joke to you, Chancellor? Do you relish in the sight of me bound before you, on my knees at your mercy? Take pleasure in it, for one day when I am free, I will take your eyes for looking down at a King in such a way.”

There was worry, yes, and he knew how Cor would get. To detach was something Regis had done frequently, and he knew when he did it he wanted a friend to come and pick him back up. 

For Cor, he would be that friend. 

“Cor?” There’s a knock on the door, then a pause, and another knock. “Do you wanna put salt in the sugar shaker so Clarus has salty coffee?”
