  Almost got his grandson Josuke seriously injured by pointing out there was a bear outside the cabin, leading to him going outside to ride it. It was already a stupid-sounding idea, but watching the whole thing happen only made it worse.

  Gareki liked Josuke just fine and was glad he turned out mostly uninjured, but some people were just ... a little too optimistic.

  Look at who got gifts for everyone and anonymously left them in the cabin! He's spent a long time wrapping up boxes for people, and they actually look very nice. There's no names on any of them, so apparently everything is up for grabs. There's various sized boxes, all of them containing various sized rocks! Though maybe some people got lucky and got a big bag of peppermint candy he didn't want.
