And another Art Scam on Etsy :) Another “top sales” shop you can find with a quick search The pinguins are a bit hard, but since all other pictures seem to be just generated as well. The corgy has a weird bum. If you draw like that, you oftentimes use reference Photos, where an animal looks... like an animal. In this picture, the bottom part is either to high or to low. The playing dogs have weird hands, which are melted with the table, which is weirdly shaped. And are these cards on the table? Or tiny cards? I know that insects are a topic where you don’t have to draw all correct, but on no continent on earth, do you have a grasshopper, with 2, 3 or 4? Legs emerging from one point. Legs which vanish after moving behind another leg. The antlers are wrong. The right picture is a combination of grasshopper and fly?. The eye sits behind the neck, not on the side oh and the poor insect lost a few of its legs ;v;

And again another example why this is AI generated and NOT drawn or painted by an actual artist. The eye merges from the hat. The eye is too high and to much drawn from the front. The tie has no depth. The wiskers are bigger on one side and non existing on the other. The buttons are not working like that. The hand and poket are merging into one another.

What a cute hamster, right? If you take a closer look, the rodent not only has a weird mouth and nose and the ears are not close to what they would like like, but whats going on with the hands? Ö_Ö!

A wonderful example of a “typical” ai “style” The eyes of the character are just dead, the arm and hand is to long and an artist would either draw the arm and hand, or not draw it at all. But adding it to the edge of a picture is a bad way to compose your artwork (also photo!) Oh, and whats with the blends? :) They sure look weird right? The artwork is claimed to be painted in oil, but there is no feeling of oil, no brushstroke, not texture.

This random painting i got send looks good on first glance.  But the “oil painting” structure does not look like real oil brush strokes. The mouth is too wide (compare julia roberts and mick jaggers smile, both of whom are known for their wide smiles!)  The teeth look weird, the gum! is too high. Gum does NOT travel that high, more of the teeth would be covered. The right pupil is too big and does not fit the eye at all, esp. compared to the other eye. Claiming this as an oil painting, even if its just a print, is lying to potential customers, since there was never a real oil paiting to begin with. If you are using AI, please mark it and don’t lie to customers!

Since there are a lot of shops on etsy, displate, pinterest aso who claim, that their AI midjourney generated pictures are traditionally drawn with oil, watercolours or mixed media, here some exampled which will show you, what parts of the picture expose their lies. If you are aware of AI generated pictures and want to use these for commercial purposes be aware, that this is still just a grey area! But if you want to support artists and help them continue working as an artist, it can be hard to see the small - but still visible - parts of an ai generated picture or photo. And people on etsy & co claiming their “art” is traditionally, is customer deception! It’s like getting cheap stone kitchen countertop instead of a marple one.  So let’s get started. If you found a shop where you want to buy some art, but are unsure, if these are traditionally made, just send a message, and the artworks will be checked :)
