We replaced some words in 10 book titles with names of candy, chocolate and cake. The result was mouthwatering.

Sorry Marie Antoinette, but the word 'bread' has appeared in books WAY more than the word 'cake'.
Yep, true story, and we know because of Google Ngram, one of Google's important project that tells us how often words have appeared in books between 1800 to 2008.
Go ahead, try it!

When Toni Morrison went to Starbucks - originally published on our parent site, The Reader!
Morrison
Toni Morrison goes up to the counter and places her order, which is so novel that Starbucks immediately adds it to their menu. Twenty-seven years later, Morrison orders the drink again; she is pleasantly surprised to find that it might be even better than everyone has said.

Rushdie
Salman Rushdie goes up to the counter and orders an earl grey tea. The barista serves him a chai tea latte instead. Rushdie drinks from it deeply. It is a bottomless well of stories.

The Apostrophe
I was reading a book and I paused at an apostrophe. It was mute - a very gracious mark, unbent yet curved, still, yet dainty. I imagined dewdrops gleaming on its surface and then falling on to the page, in a swirl of water and words. I ran my eyes vertically down the page and in its scattered being, I saw a bindi gone awry, a beautiful smudge.
It broke words only to make them complete, it halved words only to make them whole.
