Captain Marvel
 Higher. Further. Faster.Â
With no memory of her past life, Vers fights beside Kreeâs Starforce Military, an intergalactic force aiming to protect the universe from the shapeshifting terrorists named Skrulls. Coming to Earth to escape her enemies, Vers makes it her mission to protect the planet from the invaders. With help from S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Nick Furry, she begins to unravel her past and discover the truth.
Trailer        Rating 10/10
In case you have been living under a rock, youâve missed the raving reviews that followed the premiere of Captain Marvel on March 4th. Satisfying both critics and audience, the movie earned its place in Marvelâs most successful productions.
I was so excited when I walked into the movie theatre and I wasnât let down. The movie was iconic! Brie Larson was the greatest casting choice for this role. Her powerful performance was what made the movie skyrocket for me and there was great chemistry between her and Samuel L. Jackson, as well as the rest of the cast. Also, the script was well-written and the story was moving, as Carol was willing to sacrifice everything in order to help end the war. The humour also played a big part in the movie; numerous times the laughter spread around the audience, just as expected from a Marvel movie.
There is only one thing left to say: I have a new Captain.

Aquaman
You do your best thinking when youâre not thinking at allÂ
Trailer            Rating 7/10â
Arthur Curry is not a regular human. Son of the Queen of Atlantis and a lighthouse keeper, he is the bridge that will unite two worlds. The problem is, Arthur wishes no part of it. After his half brother, heir to the throne of Atlantis, threatens to bring war upon the surface, Arthur and Mera, princess of one of the kingdoms of the sea, begin a quest to discover a weapon with undeniable power.
A very pleasant surprise from the DC Studios. Aquaman, if Iâm being honest, wasnât in my to watch list of the year. Thankfully, I changed my mind.
DC seems to have realised the âliterally too dark to watchâ and overdramatic movies wonât do if they want to lure in a wider audience. With the release of Wonder Woman in 2017, DC went a new direction with their films, one they successfully kept going on with Aquaman.
Colourful image, good cinematography and power performances were the secrets to the movieâs success. Also, the addition of humour and a more realistic/human approach to the characters left a sweet taste in my mouth. The use of CGI still needs a little bit of work, in my opinion, but the improvement from is Justice League refreshing.
Looking forward to the continuation of the DC Cinematic Universe.

Christopher Robin
 Silly old bearÂ
Robin doesnât have time for anything except work. Not for family, not for friends and certainly not for fun. One day, he unexpectedly meets an old friend and things start getting a little more interesting.
Trailer      Rating 10/10â
Winnie The Pooh is one of Disneyâs most beloved characters and, just like with many others, a huge part of my childhood. I was thrilled when the trailer for the live action movie came out, although some had many objections due to the extensive use of CGI.
Thankfully, the story was captivating, with outstanding performances and overflowing emotion. The plot was unique and interesting, with our favourite characters reminding us once more why we love them so much.
Childhood memories resurfaced as the movie proceeded and itsâ message spread, finding a forever home in the audienceâs hearts. Of course, tears were part of the experience. Why is that?, do you ask.
Well, after all, we are all still children.

The Umbrella Academy S1
Christ on a cracker
After their adoptive father died, a disbanded group of misfits, trained since childhood to save the world, comes together in order to prevent the Apocalypse. The important question is, is there anything that couldnât go wrong?
Trailer     Rating 10/10â
This will be a very short review. No excuses, clear your schedule and binge watch the show.
With the most original of ideas and an extraordinary cast to back it up, you are bound to relate and willingly indulge yourself in the roller coaster called The Umbrella Academy.
The epic soundtracks aside, the show has a unique way to portrait the ugly side of life in a rather humorous way. The characters are all standing in the front lines, contributing equally to the plot and shine in their own, special way.
Already this is one of my top picks of 2019. Hope next season get even better.

What Happened To Monday
 Seven Sisters, One IdentityÂ
In a not so distant future, overpopulation and famine have forced governments to undertake a drastic One-Child Policy. Seven identical sisters live a hide-and-seek existence by taking turns assuming the identity of one person: Karen Settman, in order to escape the Child Allocation Bureau. Each can go outside once a week as their common identity but are only free to be themselves in the prison of their own apartment. That is until, one day, Monday does not come home.
Trailer      Rating: 8.5/10â
This movie messed me up.
A little bit out of my comfort zone, this is a very fast-paced movie, with lots of action and heartaches. For the most part, I enjoy movies that give me time to get to know and appreciate each character. This movie completely stepped all over my preference.
It deals with heavy subjects and succeeds in delivering a meaningful message to the audience. The only reason this is not a 10/10 movie for me itâs that I would have prefered it was a duology instead of a stand-alone film and wanted more time to get to know each of the seven sisters. A standing ovation for the actress portraying all of seven sisters, Noomi Rapace.
If you have already supplied yourself with tissues, I recommend you watch this movie as soon as possible.
! Disclaimer! If you havenât watched the movie, stop reading, this review contains spoilers!
We follow 7 siblings, therefore know not all of them will come out of this alive. As Monday and Tuesday disappear, the rest are left wondering if their secret has been revealed.
As the sistersâ numbers kept decreasing, I thought it would be hard to actually care whether they died or not. I thought it was out of convenience that Sunday died so early on, I didnât even get a chance to tell her hair apart. By the way, how each style their hair is the only way to tell them apart (just like a kpop group).
Wednesday. By far my favourite sister. The fighter, the protector. The 'jumping from the rooftop' scene for me was the highlight of the movie and the cinematography was just incredible. And her death, donât make me talk about it.
Same feelings about Saturday and Friday, they deserved so much better. The irony of it all, Saturday never got to finish saying âI love youâ to her sisters but Friday did.
I was relieved to find Tuesday alive. 2/7 ainât that bad, right? We were hoping to find Monday too but, um, it didnât turn out so well. The worst kind of betrayal is one coming from a family member and the reason I was brought to tears when Thursday recapped her sisters' deaths. Unpopular opinion, Monday did have a serious reason, that being the twins in her belly. But still, having the government assassinate your siblings is too cruel, simply unjustifiable. No matter the reason.
Going into this movie, it was pretty obvious that none of the children was âstored awayâ. Even in fiction, thereâd be not enough space for that. But drugging them and burning them?
It feels sometimes like the directors and screenwriters, in general, keep trying to find ways to make cruel situations even crueller and I donât know for how long my poor heart will be able to make it if this goes on.
Concluding by saying this movie is another reason to hate Mondays.

Bird Box
 Donât open your eyesÂ
Five years after an ominous unseen presence drives most of society to suicide, a mother and her two children make a desperate bid to reach safety.
Trailer    Rating: 9/10â
Let me begin by saying I didnât understand the hype at first. I thought it was one of those movies that had household names as their front and the movie itself was mediocre at best. Oh boy, I was wrong.
Bird Box has one of the most amazing postapocalyptic concepts Iâve ever seen. Not some zombie apocalypse or disease, oh no. Invisible monsters that take the form of your worst fear.
As intriguing as it sounds, it is more than incredible to watch. Of course, having amazing actors joining the cast adds more to the movie but the story itself was crafted in such an appealing way, it is simply impossible not to like.
This is a smart movie. The main concept is people seeing their worst fear and lose any sense of self-preservation, leading to the point they take their own life. Then, to add to the twist, we follow a small group of people trying desperately to survive inside the same house. A mother trying to keep her children alive.
This movie will without any doubt keep you at the edge of your seat and make you sob like a baby. Go on, then, enjoy!
! Disclaimer ! If you havenât watched the movie do not continue reading. This review contains spoilers.
First of all, I loved how the story went back and forth the whole time, adding little by little to the story, yet making you agonize about the people on the boat.
At this point, I would like to give Sadra Bulock a standing ovation for her emotional performance,
Of course, I couldnât write this review without mentioning Tom. Usually, I donât like the âgood guyâ trope in movies or series but I think this particular one was in desperate need of such a character. He was the carrier of hope up to the last moment. AND he managed to resist his âdemonsâ long enough to save his loved ones. All hail Tom, movie hero and forever the nicest guy in that movie.
The mother-children dynamic was an ace under the directorâs sleeve. It became very clear Ella wasnât Malorieâs daughter since the doctorâs appointment, yet it was heartbreaking seeing Olympia forcing Malorie to promise sheâd take care of her child should anything happened to her. Yeah, in case you hadnât noticed, that part served as a foreshadowing. Much liked Tom, she managed to pull it together just long enough to give her baby to safety before jumping off the window -if you havenât guessed, I sobbed like a five-year-old during this movie.
Lesson to be learned: love is stronger than even your worst fear.
So, what did you think of the movie? Let me know an please, suggest a movie you love for me to watch!

Mortal Engines
 Some scars never healÂ
When Hester Shaw arrives in London she has only one goal, take revenge for the death of her mother. But things take an unexpected turn when young historian Tom Natsworthy gets in her way. Together they begin a journey filled with turns and twisted, a group of Anti-Tractionists and a giant weapon of mass destruction.
Trailer     Rating 5/10â
Well aware that this movie was bombarded by negative reviews, Iâd like to give it a good one. It was a nice movie to watch, with likeable characters and moving cities. The world building was very interesting and the premise big.
IÂ do agree the content was too much for a single movie, it would be better as a trilogy or series but that doesnât mean it was a complete letdown. Despite the overload of plot and rush throughout the movie, the actors managed to deliver a pleasant performance and the chemistry between the characters was what really made the story work.
Overall I enjoyed watching this movie, even though I donât see myself revisiting it.

Titans Season 1
 Fuck BatmanÂ
Titans follows young heroes from across the DC Universe. After Rachel Roth loses her mother, she seeks help from Dick Grayson, a young cop and formely known as Robin, who promises to help keep her safe from the people that come after her... When the hot-headed Starfire, an alien being with eruptive powers and Gar Logan, a boy who can transform into a tiger, join the party, things get a little more interesting. Together, they become a surrogate family and team of unlikely heroes.
Episode List      Trailer
Rating 5/10â
Had incredibly high hopes going into this, which I guess on itsâ own was a recipe for disaster. Although I was pleasantly surprised by the development of most characters, I felt my heart ache at the representation of Raven. An action-packed series as predicted, although the plot wasnât given a lot of room to develop and sometimes felt forced.Â
Disclaimer! If you havenât watched the entire series, please stop reading. This review contains spoilers!
I began watching this series with extremely high hopes since Teen Titans was my all time cartoon as a kid. Canât claim to be a hardcore fan of DC (sorry), meaning apart from the cartoon I knew very few things regarding the characters.
The thing is, I donât understand how Raven went from that badass, reclusive teen to the way it was portrayed in the series. I loved how conflicted and shut out from the world she was, how grumpy and unapproachable. In this version, we get a very young Raven, who only now begins to get a grip of some short over her powers. Although Teagan Croft delivers an incredible performance and the way Raven reacts to the unfortunate situation she was forced into is realistic, I would have much prefered an older version of her, one in which she would follow the example of her cartoon predecessor and be more independent and dark. If I hadnât heard about the Teen Titans Go!, I would say this is the exact opposite of the Raven we know and love.
Moving on, a big surprise for me was Robin. Iâm not very familiar with the DC comics -nor any comic for the matter- so, in my humble opinion they have done a relatively decent job with him. I would have loved to have his past shown to us in a much different way, like flashbacks of his own during immense physical pain, like a torture situation (yes creepy asylum, Iâm looking at you) but looks like I have to settle. So far so good, he stopped giving a crap about Batman and tried to create his own path. Letâs hope that path goes straight to Dawn aka Dove, âcause, yeap, I ship. (DC fans, please donât kill me!)
Starfire? Yes, please. I could go on and on about how much I loved her sassy and confident personality. She is a freaking badass and honestly, I think theyâve done a great job there. I would have preferred her original introduction -aka would die for the whole â I have to kiss you to learn your languageâ scene- but Iâll have to wait for season 2 to have more to talk about. I canât wait for her sister to show up! (hello? DC there? I have a request)
Last but definitely not least, we have Gar. I will probably say this many times during the series but here it goes: Gar is a cinnamon roll and needs to be protected at all costs. Every subjective judgement goes out of the window when it comes to this one. I was ready to give up on the series and he pretty much single-handedly kept me going. He is freaking adorable and is everything I hoped for. I had no recollection of Beast Boyâs backstory and was pleased to learn about it. And his awkward, adorable interactions with Raven? Holy freak, I fangirl every damn time!
As I mentioned before, the plot moved WAY too fast for me? Yes, Ravenâs arc is all about her powers and her father but the only character I managed to get emotionally attached to is Gar -cause he is Gar- and Dawn because she is simply impossible to hate. There wasnât enough time to meet the characters, let alone establish a connection. A certain level of sympathy was there after the asylum episodes kicked in but other than that? I hope they take there sweet time (and the gigantic amount of material they have on Titans) and give us more character driven storylines in the future.
Needless to say Iâll probably continue the series purely out of nostalgia and, well, Gar.
Thatâs all I have for you today! Let me know if you agree or, mieh not really. I hope you know that this is my personal opinion and it may not aline with yours, and thatâs totally okay.Â
Keep watching series and enjoying life!

Marvelâs Runaways Season 2
We hold the power now
After discovering their parents are super-villains in disguise, a group of teenagers band together to run away from their homes in order to atone for their parents' actions and to discover the secrets of their origins.
Episode List     Trailer
Rating 5/10 â
The 2nd season of the Runaways caught me by surprise if Iâm honest. I expected a more action-packed storyline, a very carefully planned strategy the team would follow. There were many surprises that I, as Iâve never read the comics, did not see coming and delighted to see a lot of character development throughout the season. However, some decisions made left me wondering why they were made to begin with.
Disclaimer! If you havenât watched season 1 or the entire season 2, stop reading, this review contains spoilers!
Following up the events of season 1, we find the team as they try to survive alone in the streets. I understood their need to get away from their parents but after a while they should have realised that the best way to expose and take down their parents would be to do it from the inside.Â
Now, what I enjoyed most in this season, thus the 6/10 rating, is the dynamic between Nico and Karolina and Nicoâs powers.
I found out about their relationship in the comics via Pinterest and honestly lived for it ever since. I felt so damn excited when the producers decided to go by the book in this one, I needed the cuteness.
Now, Nicoâs powers have developed so freakin much since season 1! That new emerge of power when fighting her parents and earlier on was everything I wanted! Although I doubt itâs a good thing. I liked how her issue of her sisterâs death came to closure and how it drove Nico over the edge, making her kill Jonah. Well, at least she tried. Challenging the characters was a big theme this season.
About Gert and Chase, honestly, I couldnât be more uninterested. I liked the whole ânerdy girl gets the sports guyâ thing but to me, their choices didnât make any sense -all right, except Chase leaving because he thought his father was dying, that I get. Everything else was just unnecessary and the lack of group effort to get Gert her meds was outrageous. They have done so many things, yet finding meds for their friend wasnât even a side plan when it should have been a priority.
I also got really worked up with Mollyâs storyline. There is no need to torture a character like that -especially a kid like Molly- in order to deliver that sense of anger and frustration. Well, it was delivered but for all the wrong reasons
I donât think there is any point to comment about Alex. Just... No.
Karolina, on the other hand, showed a different side of hers in this season. She discovered her strength and found out a little bit more about herself. Meeting her grandma and her extraterrestrial family is a big milestone in discovering who she really is. And I am really looking forward to see how they will approach the whole "betrothed" thing in the next season!
So, thatâs all I got for you. Let me know if you agree or disagree! Also know that this is my personal opinion on this season, no offence to anyone intended.
