I finally dug out an old PS3 controller (just a cheap one I got to have a second controller) that doesn’t work anymore because Charlie kept getting me killed on my game trying to “help” with mine. 😂 He’s not chewing on it in the second one, he’s moving the joysticks with his mouth. It’s the cutest thing ever. He WAS smiling for the first pic but stopped as I snapped it. 🤦🏼♀️

My foster dog and her puppies are at their new home and they are THRIVING! They left on Friday after spending the week getting to know my best friend and her husband (they came over every day while they were in town to spend time with her). It was an amazing thing to watch.
The first day, Monday, it was like me just having friends over. The second day, though, that’s when the shift happened. My friends brought their daughter (just under two years old) and Mabel seemed to take it as them showing her their baby and she showed them her puppies. It was so sweet. So, so sweet, you guys. After that they left on Tuesday, she stopped wanting to sleep in my bed with me, she kept taking me to the front door (as though if I opened it, they’d walk through it) or my car. It was like she CLAIMED them that day. She met their six year old son on Wednesday and fell absolutely in love with him.
On Friday, when it was time to leave, she excitedly went to their vehicle and tried to get in it immediately (it was a little too high for her).
My friend has been sending me pictures and videos every day. Mable has gotten very protective of them and absolutely loves being there. You can just see it in her eyes, the way she looks at them, and how relaxed and comfortable she is and it hasn’t even been a week.
This is, by far, the most beautiful rescue story I have and I’m so grateful to be part of it. When she got to me, she was way underweight, pregnant (which I didn’t know), infested with fleas and ticks (seriously, I’d never seen anything like it before and I’ve been doing rescue since I was a kid), and she had worms (which didn’t show up until she got healthy enough to start expelling them about a week later). She’d been seriously neglected (although, thankfully, there were no signs of abuse). I worked hard to get her healthy and make her feel comfortable and safe.
The vet said that had I not done exactly what I did, the babies definitely wouldn’t have made it and she probably wouldn’t have, either.
My best friend and her husband adopted her before I had any information on her beyond her breed. I didn’t even have a picture, but they just knew she was theirs and couldn’t explain it. I knew they’d absolutely adore her and treat her well so I was okay with them taking her (I’m VERY picky about this).
Today, she is thriving in her forever home and I am beyond grateful for how this all turned out.

Ok so I'm finally watching Season 11 of The X-Files.
Episode 7 is called "Rm9sbG93ZXJz" which always bugged me cuz whenever anyone talked about it they called it the "sushi restaurant" episode. I avoided googling what the actual name meant cuz I didn't want spoilers.
But while watching the episode, right after the intro credits they flash this "VGhlIFRydXRoIGlzIE91dCBUaGVyZQ=" on the screen. And that's when I realized the episode title must be encrypted since this second encrypted text was obviously placed where "The Truth Is Out There" is typically placed.
So I ran both of them through this online tool called dcode and figured out they used base64 encoding to encrypt their messages.
You can play around with this tool here: https://www.dcode.fr/base-64-encoding
If you don't want to know what the results are...don't continue reading...
Maybe they reveal all this in the episode, idk I literally paused it at the credits screen to post this after figuring it out lol
So don't hate on me if this is obvious or well known. I just figured it out now and thought it was fun.
Rm9sbG93ZXJz -> "Followers"
VGhlIFRydXRoIGlzIE91dCBUaGVyZQ= -> "The Truth is Out There"
If one of you can figure out this text I encrypted using a different encoding, I'll send you a funny meme as a prize:
☌⟟⌰⌰⟟⏃⋏ ⏃⋏⎅⟒⍀⌇⍜⋏ ⟟⌇ ⏃ ☌⍜⎅⎅⟒⌇⌇ ⏃⋏⎅ ⍙⟒'⍀⟒ ⋏⍜⏁ ⍙⍜⍀⏁⊑⊬.

I don’t really have a WIP folder per se. Rather, I have a folder called “fics” and then in that I have folders for different fandoms. From there, I have folders for stories and in those folders, the documents are just titled by chapter number.
So, if you really want to know what I’m working on, here you go (none of these are posted, yet):
Stargate SG-1
The Remnant — pending title change.
Pick a Name Already — yes, that’s actually the folder name 😂
TXF
Shattered Earth (this is a series and has only the part one subfolder for now): Perdition
Saints and Sinners — you have no idea how excited I am to finish and share this one with you guys. It might just be my favorite fic that I’ve written.
Nex Sacramentum — I had this one up on AO3 for awhile but I got a lot of pressure to keep posting quickly and it became something I hated as opposed to what the original plan was. So, I took it down and am reworking it into what I wanted. I have a folder of the original work and one for the rewrite. I’ll upload this one again when it’s done and I’m satisfied with it.
Blessed Be Our Ever After — for the people asking (that I somehow haven’t told yet) where BBOEA went, I took it down. There were some things in later, unposted chapters that I wanted to keep but didn’t make sense with other things. So, I’m doing a massive edit/partial re-write. Trust me, it’s WAAAAAAY better than it was. I’ll upload it again when I’m satisfied with it.
One-shots — This one has an UPLOADED subfolder (stuff that’s on AO3), a COMPLETE subfolder (fics that are done but I haven’t uploaded yet for one reason or another), and then just a bunch of random documents that range from two sentences to a few pages. I guess they’re technically WIPs but, honestly, it’s stuff I’ve run out of steam on (yay ADHD) or just wrote a couple sentences to get my brain going or, honestly, just put the idea into a document and haven’t even actually started on it yet but I have severe ADHD so I didn’t want to lose the idea.
That’s it. That’s my fic folder.
If you sub to my AO3 page, you’ll get an e-mail when I upload new things. Otherwise, I usually post the link in the group on Facebook. I post the link here if I remember and I rarely post them on Twitter/X anymore because it screws with my timeline which I finally got how I want it 😂 Feel free to share them here or on Twitter, just tag me (rationalcashew on both) in the post. ❤️
Anything else or more specific that you want to know, just ask!
Rules: Post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them, and then post a little snippet or tell them something about it! and then tag as many people as you have WIPs.
I was tagged by @cecilysass and as she said in her post, I do not have a WIP folder. My Google docs are plenty and some are untitled with only two sentences within. But the desire to write is always there. 😂
However- here is a list of a few I’m working on, or have sitting and waiting to once again gain my attention. 😊
What You Don’t See- something that I started 6 years ago… Jesus. It’s 8 chapters deep and I really need to finish it.
Through the Years- one I hope to finish before Christmas. But we’ll see.
A Different Take- definitely will change this title, but it’s a story I’m interested in tackling.
Emily- not the final title by any means.
One Lonely Night- pretty sure I’ll keep this title.
Arcadia- sure I’ll change this name, but… 🤷🏻♀️
Summer- definitely will tweak this one.
This is all I can see and think of at the moment. Like I said, I don’t have a WIP folder. Maybe I should, but… I don’t know…
I’m going to tag @baronessblixen @tofuttim @agent-troi @fragilevixenfic @kyouryokusenshi @rationalcashew

One of these days, I’ma write the fic because that shit’s hilarious!
Does Maggie Scully phone Dana up one weekend over the summer of 1998 just to check in and ask how her daughter's getting on at her Highly Stressful Government Job but she's just there on the other end of the line completely blasé about it like. Yeah. I got infected by an alien virus. Nbd. I missed your last call bc i was in Antarctica. btw.

I know I’ve told her story before, but this is my foster dog. When she came to me almost a month ago, I honestly didn’t know if she’d survive a week, let alone a whole month. She had more ticks on her than I’d ever seen before, was about half the weight she should’ve been, had no energy, only left the porch to relieve herself…
In the first two days, she was flea and tick free with some help from my vet. She got healthy enough for me to find out that she also had worms. Promptly took care of that (also with help from my vet). And she was on a puppy food diet to get some weight on her because that girl desperately needed calories.
Almost a month later, this girl is talkative, sassy, so very sweet, cuddly, and likes to explore the backyard. More importantly, she’s healthy again, her coat is shiny and (still) getting soft.
I’m so grateful that my best friend adopted her and I cannot wait for them to meet in a few more weeks. This little girl has no idea how loved she already is and how she is going to have an amazing rest of her life.
I will never understand how people can treat a dog this way. Thankfully, she showed no signs of abuse but she was certainly neglected. It breaks my heart and makes me sick. She has such a beautiful little soul and I’m soo proud of her progress. She’s a little fighter!

I’m sure everyone’s sick of hearing about it, but this little girl keeps getting better and better every day. I’m sooo proud of her. She was, very literally, half dead when she got to me two weeks ago. I have her just about up to weight. She’s flea, tick, and worm free. She smiles all the time. She’s started to really explore the yard where the first week to ten days she really only left the porch to relieve herself. She’s gotten talkative. And look at how shiny her coat is!
Her coat was so brittle, coarse, and dull when she got here. It’s still a little coarse but it keeps getting softer and softer.
I’m sure everyone’s sick of my posts about her, but I’m super proud of her. Like I said, she was half dead when she got here. There’s something super special (to me, anyway) about getting a rescue dog, building trust, and getting them healthy. If I believed in miracles, I would absolutely consider this one because I wasn’t sure if she’d even make it a week.

This sweet girl is officially with me for the next six weeks before going home! She was COVERED in ticks—seriously, I’ve been in dog rescue for the majority of my life and I have never seen it that bad. She had no idea what a treat was. Almost no socialization with other dogs.
The people who surrendered her pretty much lied to us about her. Which, screw them, but I can work with her easily.
She has no idea all the love coming her way, though! She is going to be living her absolute best life starting today. My best friend adopted her (she’s staying with me until my bestie comes for a visit in about six weeks. Then, she’ll go home). They’re super excited to have her and will treat her soooooo well. I’m excited for my bestie and her family to get such a great dog and I’m excited for this precious girl to have a home that will treat her like she deserves to be treated. ❤️🐶

Happy Story!
I have helped place many, many dogs in homes. For those who don’t know anything about me, I’m pretty active in the rescue community. That said, I have never had a home for a dog in under 15 minutes and I have never been so excited about it!
The short version is that I was contacted about an Aussie (which is one of my favorite breeds!) who desperately needed a home. My understanding of the situation is that she wouldn’t leave the people’s cows alone. The people were going to put her down if they couldn’t rehome her ASAP.
So, I got contacted. I didn’t have many details at all. Not even at a picture at this point. I made a post with what little details I had (with the promise of more as I got them) and in under ten minutes, she had a home.
My best friend and her husband are going to take her. I’m beyond excited! She’s going to have a home that will love her like she deserves to be loved. I’m going to foster (or, dogsit in this situation?) her for a few weeks and when my bestie comes for a visit, they’re going to bring her home with them. ❤️❤️❤️

Yeah, big facts!
i encourage you to go to your favourite writer's ao3 page and comment on an older fic, because i can assure you that it will make their day. It can mean so much to see your work doesn't disappear into the void to be never seen again after a day of people interacting with it. Just, if you have the time, go comment on an older work
(pls reblog this to try and get as much writers a bit of appreciation)
