listen i know we (as in the some broader part of the internet and not me or you specifically) got a kick out of clowning on Harry Styles for saying a movie "feels like a movie" but honestly he was kind of onto something because you can't deny the fact that there are movies that feel like money laundering schemes, there are movies that feel like they absorbed you straight thru the screen, and there are movies that well, sort of feel like they're trying really hard to be a Movie but mostly end up as a pretty, cinematic looking facsimile of a film. like they feel like the Idea of a movie, like what would be playing on the big screen during a scene in an actual movie where the characters are in a movie theater. and from what i've seen and heard of Don't Worry Darling, it very much seems like the latter

and also that phrase made itself at home in my linguistic choices so I'm defending it like a dragon defends its pile of gold

my parents are watching this random ass movie called Fountain of Youth and it is proving my point twofold the main guy is obnoxious I can't STAND his ass 😭

usually the "extremely smart guy who Knows Everything and is Very Skilled and know's he's Hot Shit" character doesn't work for me at all because I usually think it's at the expense of other characters and like the plot sometimes (and very often it's Just Some White Guy). but I do have to say I think Neal Caffrey is an exception just through his sheer, and idk how else to say this, babygirl energy
