It pisses me off cause it's so obvious he and his fans only see misogyny as like a Cancelling Token rather than like, it actually mattering how he treats women in real life. Which is why you see his fans bringing up gross jokes that Tommy and co. have made as some sort of Gotcha for any criticisms on the way that dream and his friends have treated real life women

pulling this one from the stack of old asks because you're so right, and this is definitely a general issue with mcyt but it really is hyper concentrated with dteam + their community. in general people care more about what their interpretation of a joke than they do about real IRL allegations if its their fave. but last february really opened my eyes to what a responsible reaction to such things being revealed about your fave should and can be, versus what dream team stans's attitude continues to be. like you CAN in fact be an mcyt stan and be normal.
