My piece for the MCYT Playwriting Festival ( @mcytplaywritingfest )!! Here is an art doll of Tubbo from Mackdizzy’s amazing play “Underscore: A Presidency”.

Design Notes:

Originally I was going to make a costume for the play. Unfortunately, I ran out of time and materials, as well as having around eight sewing machines break on me at my work. Hand sewing would be my only option and I did Not want to hand sew a 3 Piece Suit.

So! Art doll it was!

I started by making a sketch for the face and turning it into an embroidery file using Embrilliance. The original sketch looked. Funny but it did the job!

Baldbo real.

He remained bald for. A while while I sewed the body. The pattern is a modified version of the doll pattern by TheDenTree on Etsy.

Next was clothing! I made a collared white shirt to go under the suit jacket, along with brown pants-shorts-things (the pants. Weren’t my best work but I tried my best.). I wanted his underclothes to be simple, as the suit jacket itself should be the most eye catching thing on the doll. He also has little boots! The boots are specifically beat up and slightly worn. I imagine they’re the same ones he wore during the L’Manburg war.

Finally, I made the suit. I made it big, seeing as Tubbo is in a position that he just- doesn’t fit. Even though the sleeves are rolled up, they still are too long. The suit swallows him completely.

Hair and horns were done using needle felting. His hair is neat, but long, signifying he hasn’t had time for haircuts. He also has little horns!

Despite it no longer being visible, the stitches on his body are done in red embroidery floss. This symbolizes scarring.

All in all, I loved making this little guy and reading Mack’s play! Please go check it out :]

Notes about designs under cut

Phil is a pegasus. I wanted him to be smaller than everyone else and to look like a bit of a traveler. Dresses in light maneuverable clothes. Under his goives his shirt extends over his palm leaving his fingers open. The heart is upside-down to suggest a spade. He has a prehensile tail, I imagine he uses it to trip people and hold on to things.

Sneeg is a silly beetle guy. Inspired by a stag beetle. His wings aren't visible but he does indeed have a little carapace over them. His cloak extand to cover his back, parts of his wings are exposed and they are very delicate so he keeps them covered. His boots and gloves are very thick and worn.

Not much on Fit, I don't really watch his streams, but I still adore him. I didn't want his arm to be too complicated, I really like how it turned out. He has a spade as the button for the band that helps attack his arm. He has a bunch of bandages, mostly as sun protection. His clothes ate very loose and baggy to tie into that monk aspect. I gave him a hat because I think he deserves one, although he usually wears at around his neck. I knew that I wanted him to be bigger than the other two, I like the idea of a monk who looks as menacing as he is.

All three of them have the striped pants and a bell for the kingdom of fools, the spades also tie into this. They also each have ribbons with colours relating to the other two, friendship ribbons if you would. Sneeg forged both weapons + helped Fit make his arm. They also all have some kind of swoopy, feather reminiscent clothing, Phil's jacket, Sneeg's cloak, Fit's shirt.
