last anon got me thinking about the dadam au again but AFTERWARDS in the time that michael comes back. like that has got to be so freaky to a kid to realize that there is Something Else living in your parental figure’s body that can take control sometimes. like you look into your parent’s eyes and know in some way that it isn’t them. but with adam having been praying to michael in the empty just as a way to deal with his grief michael already KNOWS all about his kid and he loves them already because they’re adam’s. so the hard part is just. connecting. with them. like the first time adam saw michael he was descending down to him in all his true form warrior of god glory and he was cold and distant and willing to do anything to see his plans come to fruition. the first time adam’s kid sees michael he’s kneeling down on one knee telling them hi and that it’s nice to meet them and making himself as nonthreatening as possible of his own volition because they’re distraught and adam’s kind of distraught because they’re distraught and michael already fucked up one family situation and he’d rather not fuck up this one as well.

Lucifer is the first midam shipper!

When Raphael and Gabriel come back to life after they beat Chuck all together, they are both horrified! Because apparently,

Michael turned against their father!

Michael and Lucifer worked together to bring God down!!

Michael adores Lucifer's son, a nephil!!!

When Adam waves at them and introduces himself, Raphael is a little betrayed, confused and more than that, a little intimidated. Because this human is either a witch strong enough to tie an archangel to himself or has a soul strong enough to bear all that time in Hell while even Michael clearly took damage enough to view this human as a figure with authority over himself. He decides to tread carefully and acknowledges the human with a nod.

Gabriel on the other hand is eerily silent. His eyes are fixed on Lucifer and Michael standing a few feet behind Adam. It takes time to process all the new info. Then he goes feral. He punches Lucifer and Michael both. If those two idiots were going to make up in the end and get rid of their father, why the hell didn't they do it atmthe start? Why did their family have to be torn? Why did their home became worse than Hell? Why did they let God play with them? Gabriel was still a fledgling when Lucifer fell. Why did no one protect him? Why did no one help him so he didn't have to run away? If Michael was going to step over every rule of God for a stupid little human, why didn't he do the same for his brothers?

Needless to say, it is a day filled with fights and tears.

The first to apologize is Lucifer. He hugs Raphael first. Raphael flinches back then stays stiff, too stunned to do anything. He apologizes for causing Raphael to be left all alone. He apologizes for all the angels who got injured so bad during the Fall that Raphael lost them despite all his efforts. He apologizes for the Apocalypse. Raphael cries silently. He will need to think over all of it but he can't deny that a part of him immediately softens.

Gabriel pushes Lucifer away a few times but gives in to the hug in the end and starts sobbing. Lucifer apologizes for leaving Gabriel behind. He apologizes for not being there as Gabriel grew into a true archangel. He apologizes for the pagans. He apologizes for everything that happened afterwards. He places a tender kiss over Gabriel's head and Gabriel freezes. Because it's his brother. It's really his brother! He remembers playing around Heaven on his own just before the fall. He remembers Lucifer coming and holding him so close and telling him how he wished he could take Gabriel with himself then leaving to battle Michael's army, leaving Gabriel to cry without understanding what was happening. They sink to the floor.

Michael moves then. He sits next to his two brothers, wrapping one arm and a wing around them before holding out his other arm at Raphael. After two seconds, Raphael takes a hesitant step forward then all out runs to his brothers. All the archangels sit there, huddled together and cry.

Michael apologizes for believing God for that long. He apologizes for not choosing the same brothers he raised like his own kids instead of a father who was never there. He apologizes for all the pain he caused them. He apologizes for not making them know how much he loved all three of them. He apologizes for being late, so late to come to his senses.

It's awkward after they finally compose themselves. All of them need a little space for some time.

Raphael watches. He watches Michael refounding Heaven with Amara who became the new God. He watches Lucifer helping around. He watches Michael personally talking to all the revived angels. He watches Lucifer desperately trying to win back his son. He watxhes the little nephil who is powerful but very young, cheerful and curious but painfully alike to a fledgling Lucifer, loving but an abomination that Raphael had been taught by Michael to hate. He watches how Michael carefully oversees the child playing with the hellhound puppy he got for his human. He watches Michael interact with the human with the familiarity of mates. He watches Lucifer joking around with them. He watches and thinks.

Gabriel storms away again but returns a few days later. Lucifer asked Amara to bring back the Pagans. The nephil, Jack carefully approaches him and shows him a terrible stick figure picture because apparently the boy is 4 and that's the best he can do. Gabriel stares at the stick figure that's a little shorter than the others and has glittery golden cloud like things behind him along with a golden circle over his head. Jack drew a warped looking sun next to it. Then there's another stick figure that is tiny compared with the others. It has the same golden wings and halo. Jack's name is written ober its head with a backwards K. Jack says that both Lucifer and Michael think he looks a lot like Gabriel. At that, Gabriel raises his gaze and finally looks at the boy. Indeed, Jack has golden wings and a bright trueform that has Lucifer's white light but looks more like Gabriel's own. This is... his nephew. He is an uncle. He looks down at the other ugly stick figures and feels longing. It's what makes him ask all his brothers to talk once more.

When the archangels are all together this time, they talk calmly. Gabriel threatens Lucifer that he will finish him if he dares to hurt or abandon Jack. He underlines that the same stands for everyone in the room. Raphael who met the child and saw the picture too, nods without much thought. Michael tells them about his human. Lucifer snorts, recounts how he cheered Adam on even though Michael didn't understand any of the pick up lines simply as there was nothing better to do in the Cage. The atmosphere is lighter after that. Gabriel cracks a smile when Lucifer mentions that Adam tried 'Heaven is missing an angel, huh?' and Michael replied with a tirade of his important role in Heaven and of course they miss him! What is this little human on about? Raphael doesn't understand it. Michael has to explain the reference. He does it so awkwardly that Gabriel finally laughs. They all do.

Raphael discovers that Adam is an agreeable person who enjoys medicine and listens to Raphael with great interest. Gabriel discovers 'I am calling Adam.' gets Michael to do anything he wants because Adam is always on the younger archangels' side. Something about little brothers and humans who are guides being always right that gets Michael playfully shake his head but softly kiss the human's cheek and agree to whatever whim it is this time. They both get to spend time with Jack, playing, teaching him and telling him all about their own childhood and Creation which he listens to with wide eyes and an awed smile.

When another nephil is created, they all feel it. Suddenly, Michael is being even more protective over Adam and spoiling him even more than he already was. Lucifer is patfing his brother's shoulder in sympathy and Jack is learning that Lucifer was excitedly trying to choose a name for him when the archangel suggests them for the new nephil. Because Lucifer is shit at naming things, they all get vetoed. All tge archangels find suggestions and fight over names when Adam declares he is naming the baby after his mom and letting Jack choose a name if it's a boy. Michael doesn't object so the other's can't too.

They spend an evening of (age appropriate, Gabe. Jack is 4!) movies and games and a nougat bar eating contest which ends upmwith Gabriel and Jack as finalists. Gabriel suspiciously gets a stomachache although archangels don't get them so he can't finish the last bar. Jack wins and gets a reminder that this evening is an exception and if he eats too much nougat, his tummy will hurt like uncle Gabe's. They all laugh at Michael who says that all seriously. They laugh a lot. From then on they always will.

Gabriel would definitely spoil them with treats. Nougat galore but also rare and obscure candies from all across the world. Gabriel also can’t say no to Jack. He’ll create anything Jack asks for no matter what Sam, Dean, and Cas say.

Midam will take Jack all across the universe and Earth. Jack was intimidated by Michael at first especially because of what AU!Michael did, but they soon start to like Michael. They always liked Adam though, the funny human that shares his body with Michael.

Michael and Adam take Jack to a pet store to pick out a goldfish. (Although maybe Jack comes back to the bunker with something like a bunny rabbit because Michael can't say no, and Adam isn't the one who has to take care of said pet --- sorry, Dean, but Jack was just too convincing. Besides, if you said a goldfish would be a good way to build responsibility, isn't a rabbit an even better way?)
