21. Artificial Sweeteners
Studies have shown that sugar substitutes are capable of leading to more weight gain than natural sugars. A 2005, population-based study by the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio showed that increased weight gain and obesity were associated with increased use of diet sodas. Also, although the extension of animal model findings to humans is unclear, rats given sweeteners have increased calorie intake, increased body weight, and increased adiposity (“fatness”).

20. Musa Velutina
The Musa Velutina plant, or pink banana plant, is a species of banana plant that bears small, pink fruit. Though most list this plant as inedible, this is only due to its hard seeds. It's easy to tell if the fruit is ripe, because it peels itself back, revealing the sweet insides.

17. Jellyfish
Jellyfish are composed of over 95% water (they can evaporate in sunlight!) and have none of the usual organs present in other aquatic species. However, they do have a standard nervous system, called a "nerve net," which allows them to feel the presence of other creatures. Their body is thin enough so that they can be oxygenated by diffusion, and they feed and excrete their small prey through a hole in the base of their bulb. One species of jellyfish,T. nutricula, is pretty much immortal, being able to revert back to their polyp stage of growth. This allows them to escape the usual death that awaits them post-reproductive, if they have not otherwise been eaten by another ocean organism. Such information has only been acquired through observation and research in lab conditions though, and it is not known whether the jellyfish does this regularly in the wild.

14. Effort Values
Once your Pokemon defeats another in battle, the most average players will notice is a gain in experience. However, there is something else taking place as well, secret numbers registered within the game's code that make up your Pokemon's stats. When a Pokemon (wild or otherwise) is defeated in battle, the Pokemon who finished the battle gains a certain amount of "EV's" or "Effort Values". Every four EV's gained adds one point to your Pokemon's final stat total at Level 100. These can only be seen using a cheating device, or, if you're patient enough, you can keep count of them yourself. An up to date list of which EV's each Pokemon yields after defeat can be found here.

In 1918, over 20,000 women in the United States were incarcerated under the Chamberlain-Kahn Act.
