My Life in the 1930s

My name is D'Jangol D'Charles D'Alfred D'George Michael D'Marques Auto Officer Prawd. I am a Jazz Musician along side my twin brother D'Joseph D'Chelsea Prawd and sister D'Chelsea D'Joseph Prawd. Today is 4.20.1930, the twins birthday, but there is not much to celebrate. Besides the idea of us being there for each other and the few possession we actually do own, there is not much to celebrate. Life has truly reached a low lower than the news of the death of mother and father. Honestly if I myself question if life is truly worth living. Honestly i have no idea if we'll be able to maintain what living situation we do have at the moment because money is so short. I fear it'll take no more than a matter of weeks we will be out of a house. Honestly im not even sure harlem is worth living in or waiting for anymore. I want to do all i can to take care of my family, but I'm unsure if i can truly keep to that. By the weeks end I'll decide whether or not to mention the thought of leaving Harlem, which we've grown so close to, and risk what little is left of our possession for hope of something else... somewhere else... Some growth in the world. Do we risk it all as our, possibly final, leap of faith in something that seems so hopeless. 

Its unbelievable how sudden everything fell apart. There's word that its like that everywhere. I question the authenticity of that statement. How could something so terrible, something so horrendous, be happening in this great nation? Could it be happening world wide?

This has to be it. The struggle is more than a reality now. And its real for more than my family and I. But this struggle doesn't seem to discriminate. At least not by ones stature...

So why do we allow ourselves to be fooled and manipulated by these thoughts and ideas? Are we happy with the idea of emotional manipulation and anything else to come. Time will tell.

Life Leading to 1922

Who am I really

My name is D'Jangol D'Alfred D'Charlé D'Marques Michael Auto Officer Prauwd. I am 21 and am the eldest living relative in the Prauwd's. I don't talk about my parents, that was a pass unworthy of remembering. Our... Well my eldest brother was the reason i was kicked out the house so long ago. After that day my life would never be the same again. I remember that day like it was yesterday. Mother's heart revolved around her 2 little ones, i was just an extension. They were too young to understand the severity when it happened. Dad had left to fight in the war a couple months before. I remember when, well his name is no more than a whisper now, but i remember when he told me to stay at the corner, to wait while he talked to these people. I still remember their faces. We were heading home when we heard someone yell "They're comin' for you! Bes'a run n******s" we didn't know who he was talking about, or if he was talking to us but we ran home as fast as we could and told Mom they were after us! I remember the next thirty minutes were such a blur. Full of yelling and running back and forth and then she was gone. She left me and my older brother and put a note in my pocket and only God knew what it said at that moment. All I knew was she was gone, maybe forever! She pack the little ones up with some clothes and money in the little Model A that Dad got gambling a couple of years ago. My brother and I... well to keep a lomg story short both of us didn't make it out of the south alive. My brother was lynched over a false accusation. Ill never forget... well im getting way off topic now. after leaving the cold hearted south i headed to Harlem, which was where Mother's note said to go, I could only hope they'd be there, somewhere in Harlem. My time alone in the world i did what i could to make money till i met this woman who introduced me to the jazz scene. I don't even remember how much I made, all i remember was it was a lot of energy and i was up real late, but i loved it! I found an escape. I remember bumping into this ma'am that looked rather familiar she told me "never let go" and "take care of business" and disappeared into the crowd. I know I'm writing a lot so I'll cut to the chase. Apparently that was my mother but she didn't want me to stop her from doing what she felt she had to do.
