Apologies if you’ve already detailed this, but do Raine and Duckula have much interaction with one another aside from that one drawing of Igor asking Raine for help in turning the vegetarian into a real vampire? Would they get along?

hey there! really appreciate the ask & am so sorry this took me a bronze age to get back to!

that said hmm this is something I haven't thought about terribly much to be honest. I'm inclined to say she probably wouldn't cross paths with him a whole lot but I could see where she would've had at least a few interactions either incidentally through igor or possibly on a rare occasion where duckula found her skills useful for some offbeat thing he wanted. The majority of the time though I'd say her interactions are largely limited to Igor since the components & ingredients she sells would be going towards practices beyond what Duckula would be interested in.

so wow duckula fandom. guess it’s been a while

making a post here after 1000 years of vampiric slumber

so i'm about a million years late making my way back to fandom life again but I just wanted start off by saying that I’m deeply sorry to those who tried to reach out or interact with me here for my sudden & long withdrawal.

Full disclosure, I wrestle hard at times with depression & self isolation issues and I got hit with both in pretty full force last year; the majority of it due to anxiety surrounding personal health issues as well as covid & a hectic work life. I know the last couple years haven’t been good on anyone’s mental health but my personal survival mechanism has always been to pull away/withdrawl & it's always, unfortunately, been a hugely difficult cycle for me to manage most of my life. 

That said; I know tumblr generally tends to run pretty casual but I feel those of you who were kind enough to take the time to interact with me deserve an apology and to know why I dropped off & tend to just be on the quieter side in general. Despite my shortcomings, I want you all to know I appreciate so many of you so much & always enjoyed my brief time here, despite not always having much to say.

I realize fandom can be fleeting for many but at the very least it warms my heart to see some of you still around this dusty old place. Although I’m also quite sad to see some familiar faces missing now too. I hope those of you who are still floating around here have been doing alright. It’s nice to see you all around here again.

Since Count Duckula comics are nowhere to be found to read online, I've been taking pictures of the comics and books I own and have posted them for people to read. This is a comprehensive list of every Count Duckula comic, activity book, magazine, bootleg and more that I've found or documented. I will continue to update in the future with new comics and books I acquire! There will be edit dates as well so you'll know if something new is added. The wonderful world of comic books! There were several versions of Duckula comics, which is kind of surprising. Each version has its own kind of charm, so try them all!

Marvel

This site has a lot of pop-ups, but it's got proper scans of every Marvel comic produced. I do own all 15 but since they're already out there it's not necessary for me to document. Does this mean that Count Duckula is technically part of the MCU? 🤔

During these comics' publication the name of the company was changed. The logo remains the same, as well as the art style. I can't find much information about the company itself online though so it's a bit of a mystery.

London Editions/Fleetway Editions

These comics were produced by Egmont UK's comic publishing division, and the name was changed over time with publishing company acquisitions. The Fleetway comic I own just has reprinted comics of past issues, but still stories nonetheless.

Translations

This is a German comic book of compiled stories from other books. It was produced by the company Bastei-Verlag (now Bastei Lübbe) which specializes in translating comics to German.

Now for some weird stuff! I've acquired two Mexican activity books and two Chinese books.

Mexican

From what I can gather Editorial Mina S.A. is the producer of the Mexican books and have a reputation of copying from other popular media in other editions. The two I own have been filled in already, but I think it adds to the charm. These are Despegando y Jugando (Unstick and Play) and Diverti Cuento (Fun Story). The first is a sticker book and the second is a coloring book.

Chinese

The Chinese books 怪鸭历险记 roughly translate to The Adventures of Strange Duck. Appropriately named I'd say. The art seems to be traced directly from the show, but the colors are all over the place it's hilarious. I think there are four in total but I'm content with just 1 and 3.

Books📚

These are proper books with a cover and such. I have many but I'm still trying to decide how to upload and share them, paperbacks are very difficult to display and posting pictures of each page would be way too much since they run for over 100 pages. For now here's one that's shorter.

A random hc I made based on this little snippet from the CD joke book (picture not from me)-

Edward has a glass eye!!!

He uh... Got in an accident about a century or two back, so he has one! It's hardly noticable at all, though sometimes it pops out by accident. It's also cleaned out every night and placed in a glass of water to keep clean and protected and such!!!

I Have this Very Special Duckula item on My Bedroom Wall, it's one of My most treasured possessions! 🙋🧛🏻‍♂️🦆🥰

Years ago; I went to Chester UK, for a day trip, I was lucky enough to notice an Art Shop, called The Gallery. In it's window, I saw a poster with Danger Mouse on, saying they sold Danger Mouse items, originally from Cosgrove Hall.

I thought; where there's DM, there might be Duckula! So I asked in the shop and they did have OG Duckula items too, including the Drawing above!🐁🦆.

The Man who owned The Gallery shop, said years ago, he worked for Cosgrove Hall for a while, then left. Years later, Brain Cosgrove came into the Man's shop, saying Cosgrove Hall Films was going out of business, would he like some of their sketches, from CHF's Series!

Obviously the Man in The Gallery said yes, so that's how The Gallery came to selling Danger Mouse and Duckula items from CHF!

I really wanted this Duckula drawing by BC, but it was very expensive and I didn't have that much on me. So I asked the man to hold it for me.

Then I went on the train from Chester back to Liverpool, where I live, went to my house, got more of My money, then went back on the train to Chester and back in the shop.

Then I Bought The Count Duckula drawing By Brian Cosgrove! I paid extra for it to be framed in the shop, to protect it.🙋🦆🖼️

Then I carried the precious Duckula item on the train back to Liverpool and I had it hung on my wall!🙋🖼️🦆🚅🏡🖼️🥰

So that's how I came to owning a Count Duckula Drawing By Brian Cosgrove himself 🧛🏻‍♂️🦆✏️🖼️💗

kept it simple for this. most of goosewing is traced, and i fixed vanna's posture to fit my own standards.

(I like how there are many characters in Count Duckula without (much) development, such as:

- Vanna Von Goosewing

- Any Duckula incarnation (1st, the...guy above, your own imagination)

- Any Goosewing ancestors (Von Gosling, your own imagination)

- Duckula’s family (those flashy vampires from “Family Reunion”)

- HEINRICH

I have seen many versions of Vanna from many talented artists and writers. Some even developed their own oc (?) of family Duckula and Von Goosewing, either picking out background/side characters or building them from the ground up.

I just like to see everyone’s devotion and creativity. Showing love to lesser known characters is more difficult than to titular/main characters, because you would have to make a lot of patches to make the nobody into somebody. It requires a lot of creativity and love for the character and his/her creation.

For a (rather) small fandom like Count Duckula, it’s heartwarming to see people devote so much time and effort for characters in the backstage, giving them a chance to stand into the spotlight.
