One of the examples that really stuck out in my mind was when Edward Bernays designed a campaign to get women to buy more clothing. At the time, women, and I guess everybody, really just wore kinda the same outfit everyday, which suited everybody just fine, but it didn't result in the sort of profits that the fashion industry wanted. So, he hired celebrities to get on TV and talk about how, 'Oh if you're a woman and you wear the same thing everyday, you give off an image that you're boring and bland. And there's certainly interesting things about you and you should show that through the clothes you wear. Wear new clothing. Mix it up. Show that you're an interesting person.' And so, this association with character and worth as a person became associated with the clothes that you wore.
And this idea that 'I'm a woman. And I wanna go to the shopping mall to buy a dress because that dress is going to make me happy. And it's going to show off my interesting personality.' Question that. Where did that idea come from? Because that idea was planted in our culture by a sexist middle-aged man that had no interest in fashion, no artistic talents for it, and really didn't care what women thought in the first place. Is that where we want the motivation to buy things to come from?

i like feminism as a theory because it describes reality, it explains what we experience in every day life. its not a school of philosophy i chose because it matches best to my personality. i believed in feminism before i knew it was a thing because i was a kid and i could understand several things going on around me. no matter what i call myself i hold certain opinions and that doesnt change and that goes for a lot of women. so yall got to stop being surprised when some women on here suddenly say that radfeminism was a joke or whatever. cause lots of people (women in this case) dont hold ideas because they actually believe them. its not just a matter of if a women wants to be liberated. lots of women in the west genuinely dont care and that doesnt make them fall into the category of class traitors per se, its just that like everybody, theyre too preoccupied with the numbing that capitalism brings and they dont care about solidarity, or critical thinking or nurturing of the mind and all these cute things. its factors other than internalized misogyny

heterosexual and bisexual girls and women should have the language to freely criticize male–female interactions, including the power imbalances in heterosexual relationships and the idealization of male dominance/female submission. women should not feel that they’re different, have an unusual sexuality, have a kink, or are not women if they prize relationships that are equal and free from misogyny and sexism. women who value loving relationships and being treated as an equal partner are recognizing what they should be entitled to as human beings—not demisexuality, not a praise kink, not ‘loving men queerly,’ not being domineering.

A p*rn service is doing sponsorship deals with young female youtubers
I’m a pretty frequent consumer of YouTube videos and yesterday I came across two videos by two different creators that were sponsored by a literal p*rn company called Cheex. It makes me especially sad because these creators are both my age (I’m 22) and have similarly young audiences. I know that p*rn isn’t really debated in the mainstream, that everyone accepts that “everyone watches it” and if you have anything against it, you must be religious or “insecure.” However, I’ve just never seen such a tacit acceptance of the monstrosity that is the porn industry. And the creators who teamed up with Cheex make content that is supposed to teach young women to be confident and “live their best life.”
Andrea Dworkin was right when she said that young women would grow up to think that p*rn is good for them. I feel so sad for young women today. I’m lucky enough to have come across criticism of porn when I was 19, but I didn’t fully realize how terrible it is until I was around 20. It genuinely feels like I’m from a different planet sometimes when I hear people talk about p*rn as it is normal and good when it’s anything but.

Hi! I am developing a podcast and I am looking for people to come on the podcast 💖💘.
Are you:
A detransitioner?
Someone living outside of the Anglosphere who is against gender politics?
A survivor of violence and abuse whose experiences politicized you?
Someone willing to read a book on socialism/radical feminism or feminism generally and talk about it?
Then you might be a good fit for a podcast guest!
Im looking for individuals to both interview and do an educational portion of the pod with. You do not have to be famous, you just need to have an interesting story to tell that relates to politics or be willing to read a book that relates to the subject matter (we will decide on it together).
You need a working laptop and a mic+headphones are a plus.
I also request in most cases that every guest uses an alias to protect you from harassment.
No compensation, but this is a good place to promote any art, writing or political project you are working on.
ALSO, I am looking for radical feminist artists and musicians to make my intro music and design my logo, full credit and payment will be given for that.

I Am Not Your Asian American Doll: a comic for AAPI Heritage Month 2023
I usually spend a lot of time editing and fine-tuning my comics so that they come across as polite and inoffensive. But honestly, I’m really tired of the way Asian cultures and countries are treated / talked about while Asian people themselves are excluded, and thought it was about time I really let my rage out lol.

This Is Female Reality.
We are still second class citizens. Still a system(at)ically dehumanized "resource". Still under sexual colonization.

We live in 2023. We're having conversations about AIs and deepfakes. So where in the world is the app that allows users to find the safest walking route to places? That allows for women to better avoid places with higher sexual assault crimes, etc.? I name women but really this would be useful to anybody hoping to avoid car prowls, etc.
My only thought is that maybe people with violent tendencies and/or gangs could misuse this data in some way. But surely even metrics from older datasets would be helpful.

Gather round kids while I explain this manipulation tactic that men perpetually try to use and why it’s bullshit.
If someone is openly showing interest in you by making disparaging or disappointed comments about your age, they’re trying to put you on the defensive. This guy wants me to try to quell his discomfort, to bring up that I’m only a month shy of 20, etc. - he wants me to try to prove myself to him, that I’m mature and adult enough for a man like him.
His goal is to establish a power imbalance right off the bat. If we were to date, I would constantly be on the defensive, constantly striving to be an equal, constantly trying to prove my “adult” credentials. Anything he says or does or wants from this point on that I object to would just be seen as a strike against my age, proof that he was right and that I’m not mature enough for him. This is how SO MANY men pressure younger individuals (primarily women and girls) into situations and relationships they aren’t comfortable with. If he truly thought I was too young for him, he wouldn’t have messaged me. This is a very calculated move, and it’s fucking gross.
Adult relationships with age gaps are completely fine, but only if all parties view each other as equals. If someone is trying to set you up in a way that ensures that’s never a possibility, run far away.
