Something I despise with my whole being is the "family is forever, friends are temporal" saying, not only is extremely bad specially in the eyes of someone who went through multiple types of abuse with family members who took care of me, but also I have a huge trigger with it, in which my family would use this saying in a "calm and soothing" voice to isolate me, and it DID isolate me for a while when I was little and it made me lose interest in things and all.

Family is NOT forever, family isn't anyone who shares blood with you, it can be your friends, your pets, even stuff like plushies, fictional characters, doesn't matter, YOU AND ONLY YOU CHOOSE YOUR FAMILY, and if ur family is abusive, you're allowed to not consider them ur family anymore or let them be dead to you, they harmed you and you should be able to get away if you can and not contact them again!
