Accountability.

I walk through life Silently. Non-violently.  Too scared to come out. Too scared to proclaim Anything other than my name And even that is suspect.  Put under a microscope Poked and prodded. My folks say I’m “sensitive” Everyone wants it easy.  Hey mom! I want it easy too. You think I enjoy the things I have to question. The cuffs that bind me To one gender. The guilt that bound me To that dress, that skirt That little pink shirt.  But if I don’t question this prison How will I know who built it?  I need to know who constructed these walls That I bash my head into.  Who is responsible for the blood I bleed?  If it’s not you or me, then who? Who will be held accountable When I take my last breath?

Some of our thoughts from yesterday in asking what we need from ourselves and from each other. This was a cool practice for me to ask for what I need in spaces, and in turn ask others what they need. It’s a habit I want to practice more in my life.

I find the space for me is really turning into a life-lab: Testing out theories, ideas, failures... from our desires, needs, and sublimes. It feels to me we are doing more than just ‘throwing ideas on the wall’ but actually holding ideas close and trying them on, seeing if they fit, and choosing what we need to take from Wednesday and into our life. Although, I’m noticing less that it’s “reality/life” and “Youth Program at Buddies” -- Buddies and YEP/YEI, after a year, are becoming the reality, they are becoming my life... Not just some utopia I live in once a week.

I love this video. There are so many things that are amazing about it, one of which being Neil Gaiman NEVER attended a post secondary institution. Illustrating that the path can be pursued in many ways. ‘Is this taking me towards the mountain, or away from the mountain?’ A question I ask on the regular to ground into what I’m committed to in my life......
