Hi everyone! I'm working on collecting some information to help advance mental health care for queer identified individuals. In order to do so I would love it if you could take this survey if you fall in the queer and trans spectrum.

New Queer Mental Health Nonprofit - Need your help!
Hi! We are Queer Works, a up and coming nonprofit organization working to reinvent mental health for the queer community. We need help raising the money for our filing fees to gain 501c(4) status. 100% of donations go towards this cause (https://www.queerworks.org/donate/).
While Queer Works is in the beginning stages of creation, it is in our immediate future to develop a non-profit organization that aims to:
Provide a space for Queer individuals to receive affordable, long term and specialized mental health care
Create and implement a training program for MFT/LCSW trainees and associates that teaches them how to celebrate and affirm each of their client’s identity
Conduct research to provides proof on the effectiveness of LGBT affirmative and specialized therapeutic treatments
Reinvent the way in which current LGBT therapeutic services are viewed and conducted in the mental health world.
Why is this important?
While homosexuality was removed from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) in 1973 as a "paraphilia" (conditions characterized by abnormal sexual desires), the Queer population is still suffering from extreme mental health pathology.
Because of this:
The fear of seeing mental health clinicians is extremely high for Queer individuals
Mental health clinicians are often not competent to provide affirming therapy that helps clients celebrate and explore their identities in a safe space
The treatment modalities used to treat Queer individuals in a mental health setting is often based on heteronormative standards and often does more harm than good to the clients
Evidence based mental health treatments designed specifically for Queer individuals are nonexistent
Research is severely lacking around positive outcomes in Queer specific mental health treatment
Queer Works wants all of this to change. With the formation of our organization we can help to de-pathologize the Queer community once and for all.
