As part of a weekend-long paleontology-themed stream, Dino Nerds for Black Lives, Albert and Joan will return to bring you the latest exciting discoveries from the world of nature. And, as an added bonus, viewers who donate to the fundraising campaign will be able to submit science-themed questions that we’ll happily answer for you!

WHAT: A charity stream designed to raise funds for bailout, BLM organizing, and black community projects 

WHO: The A-Dinosaur-A-Day Team and tons of guests from the paleontology community!

WHEN: 6PM Pacific Daylight Time on June 19th through Midnight Pacific Daylight Time on June 22nd

HOW: Q&As with Paleontologists, Art Shenanigans, Dinosaur gaming, and general foolery with rewards and incentives for donations! 

WHY: We ALL have to do our part to raise funds and help the current push for black safety and equality around the world today. Sadly, the field of paleontology does not have many black members. While we work on a variety of initiatives and programs to correct this grave error of access and equity, we’re also donating our time and attention to help raise funds to increase quality of life for our black siblings as quickly as possible, and to support the protesters as they speak truth to power. 

Join us - for a little, for a lot, for the whole time - it’s up to you! And we hope to raise as many funds as we possibly can for these causes.

Across the world, protesters and activists are working hard to convince our governments that dramatic change is needed, now, to ensure that our black siblings and neighbors are not only able to survive, but thrive, instead of suffer under systematic antiblack racism and white supremacy. 

We here on Palaeoblr are committed to doing our part for that struggle - but we can’t do it alone. As such, this weekend we will be hosting a Stream on Twitch: 

The Dino Nerds For Black Lives Stream 

During this stream we will be raising funds for The National BailOut Fund and The Bail Project - which both help individuals arrested by police to make exorbitantly high bail amounts, which greatly affects black people even when there aren’t extensive protests occurring. We also will be directing funds to local Black Lives Matter chapters as well as Ranowo Campaigns. More info about how donations will work will come in a later announcement, but all proceeds will go to these charities. 

In return, we plan on rallying eagerness for donations by having a variety of guests across the paleontology community - individuals from Darren Naish to Thomas Holtz to Pete Makovicky and more - to talk about their work and answer questions given by those who donated. We also will have artists working on their work, joking and riffing by our silliest science communicators, and of course, dinosaur-related gaming. 

We hope to see you all there from 6PM (Pacific Time) on June 19th until Midnight on June 22nd (Pacific Time). The twitch channel for the project is https://www.twitch.tv/dinonerdsforblacklives.

Dino Nerds for Black Lives: Starting Soon, and Instructions for Donating

Hold on to your butts, folks, because our livestream will be starting very, very soon (in less than an hour as of this posting)! If you haven’t already, you may check out our schedule of events here.

As incentives to donate, you may send in questions for our guest speakers or requests to our streaming artists throughout the stream.

National Bail Out

To ensure the best chance of your requests or questions being answered, please follow these guidelines for audience participation:

1. Following donation to one of our specified charities, viewers should send an email to DinoNerdsForBlackLives@gmail.com that includes: a) confirmation of donation b) their question or request c) the name of the guest they’re directing their question towards

2. The amount donated has no effect on the number of questions/requests that will be answered per viewer.

3. Viewers may also send in questions or requests through the livestream chat, but it will be assumed that these are not accompanied by a donation and will be considered lower priority.

4. If viewers want to make multiple donations to ask/request things from different guests, they may, but priority will be given to viewers who haven’t submitted questions/requests before.

5. Though we will do our best to fulfill all questions/requests, we will not claim responsibility for any that go unanswered due to time constraints, technical difficulties, or personal discretion of the organizers/guests.
