Lily let out a snort as she stepped back.
'Yes, *I* was the one parading. Of course, I remember now! Me who has barely spent 5 minutes with the boy compared to you snogging your sworn quiditch enemy - a lesbian, I might add. Yes, I'll be the parading talk of the town.'
She paused mid eyeroll to slowly squint. 'If whatever deal you made with her falls like an egg on *my* teams face, I swear to Merlin's crusty testicles Potter, I will cut you - widows peak to urethra.'
From there she paused, did he really just suggest....? Was that frankly sinful display of rampant hormonal lust not enough to soothe him this evening?
'Well, Potter, what do you mean go back to your date? I think you'll find you're looking at her.' Lily flourished a hand to display herself before a more serious emotion rolled over her. Gathering herself, one hand gripped her arm as she looked from his eyes to the floor gently.
'You kept me waiting,' her voice barely a whisper 'A girl can only go so long before she gives up.'
Looking up again, dashing the sober thoughts away, Lily let outa deep, comedic smile and let an easy smile unfurl.
'Dancing with friends, or property claiming - the choice is yours, bugbrain.'

jmfpotterâ:
This was what heâd wanted, and the reason heâd enlisted Emmaâs help in the first place, but now that Lily was physically dragging him out of the great hall James wasnât so sure that this had been the best plan after all. He sent a pleading glance Emmaâs way but she just smiled at him, calling after them: âMarch, Potter!â
He caught sight of Sirius laughing at him from across the room but that was about all he saw before they were in the corridor, alone, with no one to protect him from Evansâ â Evansâ what, exactly? It wasnât like she was his girlfriend (although, no, he definitely would not have complained if she was. He did, in fact, want her to be, quite obviously, but that didnât change the fact that she wasnât). She had no right to be as angry as she was⌠unless she really did like him, genuinely, underneath all that posturing.
And so it was with a little extra confidence that he looked at her, then around the empty corridor, and asked calmly, âWhat was it that was so important that you had to drag me away from my date, then, Evans?â
Lily stared at him for a few moments. The pregnant silence rang like a funeral toll between them, signalling to Lily the end of her upper hand. She hadnât expected to break so quickly. She had willpower. She had conviction. She even had a pretty blond on her arm to show off her juvenile victory. But Vanity snogging her Potter had crumbled it all to ash. What about his endless devotion? Hadnât he promised her that? James said heâd never give up, and yet here he was, casting her aside for a pureblooded, evil, cuntfaced...
His cocky words ran across her body like the caress of a flame. Hairs on the back of her neck stood up as straight as she; her chest suddenly felt the overwhelming tightness of her corseted dress.
Drag me away from my date... my date...my date. It echoed in her mind and tumbled her rage over the edge.Â
With two short steps, she stood to him - toe to toe - and slapped him sharply across his smug, perfect face.Â
In all honesty, she hadnât planned to. Lilyâs arm just reacted on autopilot to a cocktail of emotions brewed from the last few weeks. All that build up, and worry, rejection, jealousy, pain, disappointment... it was bubbling and boiling her blood to steam. She felt like she was glowing from it, igniting the air around her with the sheer temperature.
It was... hot.
With equal fury, Lily clasped either side of his pain-and-shock-ridden face before wrenching it down to hers. She needed to force the taste of Vanity from his lips and any trace of her presence from his mind.Â
Her lips were needy and desperate against his own while she took advantage of his surprise by backing him against the wall. She fought with him this way for a while, enjoying the new outlet for her anger. Uninvited, wanton moaning fell from her lips, so Lily began to trail down his neck with little sucking kisses. Hands in his styled hair, she tugged it till he exposed more of the flesh she desired. At this moment there was a pause, just for a half second, to inhale deeply. There it was. A few moons ago she had made Amorentia for potions and amongst familiar notes was a melody of smell she couldnât place. Of course, of course, it would be you! She chuckled bitterly before attacking him right at the pulse.Â
His neck was so soft and warm; she could even feel the beat of his heart underneath her gently swirling tongue. A few moments of nibbling and sucking went by just as fiery as her temperament. Finally, she released him with a pop.Â
A singular kiss she placed upon his swollen lips before stepping back all together with a wide smirk and a raised eyebrow.
âSomething important? Nah. Just marking property.â

jmfpotterâ:
There was something just a little off about dancing with Emma Vanity when heâd been expecting â and preparing for â Lily Evans. She was a little taller, a little more poised, a little more restrained, but just as controlling: every time James tried to sneak a glance over her shoulder at Lily, sheâd scowl and step on his foot and lead them off to the other side of the dancefloor. And while ordinarily, if Vanity wasnât a Slytherin and his sworn rival on the quidditch pitch and staunchly not interested in men, James would have found that just a little hot (okay, maybe a bit more than a little), at a time when all he really wanted to do was go up to Lily and explain what a horrible, terrible mistake heâd made in not asking her soon enough, it was just irritating. And those shoes hurt.
He caught the odd glance here and there: Remus talking to her; her wandering off through the crowd; heads turning as she walked by, presumably to find her date. He still hadnât seen Lockhart tonight, for which he was glad â McGonagall would definitely not be happy with the kind of scene heâd create if they ran into each other.
After a couple more songs James tapped out, leading Vanity back off the dancefloor and claiming his feet wouldnât survive another second out there. But his eyes still sought out Lily in the crowd and Emma made a noise of disgust low in her throat and hissed, âYou really want to make Evans jealous? I get prime practice time until March, Potter.â And then, before he had much of a chance to respond, Emma looked around until she caught Lilyâs eye, smiled sweetly, then roughly pulled Jamesâ head down and kissed him.
It took her a few seconds to spot him, but the golden hair glowing in the candlelight eventually caught her eye. With a precise but bitter stride, she flew from her station over to the punch table where he was surrounded by 5 or so 6th years. The Gaggle, Lily suspected, had ditched their dates in order to be flattered by the reigning royal flirt. So thatâs why that group of boys by the stairs looked so depressed. I donât blame them, these girls are idiots. She rolled her eyes with battered eyelids and coughed with purpose.
âDarling,â She purred, âAm I not owed a dance.â Gilderoy sighed and tossed his gaze between his hormonal herd and his supposed date.
âMy dear,â He said with strained purpose. âCanât you see Iâm a little preoccupied.â But Lily wouldnât take no for an answer. She split the see of women and gripped him by the arm, using her beaters strength to make him yelp.Â
âOne dance, Iâm sure they can spare you.â She locked eyes with all the girls, a sick psychotic smile plastered across her features. One second and they flew towards the stairs, searching for their dates in need of plicating.
âFuck, Evans. I needed them.â âNevermind, theyâll come back later.â she dismissed. âNow, dance.â
It was awkward and bumbly. There was no ease of pace, no gentle flirting like she had imagined with Potter. Instead, her partner and she were intent on their own purposes. He with flirting in a 360-degree circle, and her with Potter.Â
And then, she saw it. Vanity and Potter. Kissing.Â
Unlike most in this situation, her heart didnât shatter. There was no ice in her veins. Oh no. There was fire. Her toes curled and her eyes narrowed. Heat flooded her system, forcing her lungs to deflate and her heart to beat a wicked storm.
Oh no. OH. NO. Slowly and deliberately, Evans pulled herself from Gilderoyâs embrace and pushed him back towards his previous folly. Step. Step. Step. With eyes locked on the pair, she waltzed right up to them and glared at him.Â
Her face cooled, her breathing stilled. She passively cocked her head to one side like a confused puppy.Â
âJames, I believe there is a Prefect situation we must deal with right away. Iâm sure Vaain-ity, Oops, I mean Emma wouldnât mind if I steal you away for an urgent moment.â Her voice was sweet but her eyes were dead. âNo?â She didnât wait for a response. â Good, thank you so much, my dear.âÂ
With all the strength she could muster, Lilly latched onto His arm and dragged him from the room, all the way out into the cooridoor.

jmfpotterâ:
Heâd meant to ask her.
Honestly, he had, but it had slipped his mind somewhere between sneaking Peter out to get him new dress robes and making sure everything was in place for Decemberâs monthly excursion. By the time he did remember that he hadnât, in fact, asked Evans to the Yule Ball with him, he only had a week and a half to plan the most extravagant way to ask her possible. Something that lay tastefully between publicly serenading her in the hallways before Charms and waiting to ambush her in the library, draped across a table with a rose between his teeth.
By the time James had finally decided what to do (dropping to one knee in the Great Hall just before dinner and offering up a small box that would open to reveal a corsage, a small bouquet of flowers that was tied around the wrist that Sirius assured him was all the rage among muggles in America) it had, evidently, been too late â Remus had pulled him aside the afternoon before heâd planned his big gesture to hiss sheâs going with Lockhart.
And, really, that was what stung the most. Of all the people Lily could have chosen that wasnât him, Lockhart had never even been on his radar â he hadnât even known Lily would be willing to give him the time of day, let alone be willing to hang off his arm at a party all night.
Heâd been inconsolable for a whole day before Sirius had finally gotten sick of his sighing and kicked his sorry arse out of bed, telling him not to come back until heâd found a date good enough to make Evans jealous.
And so here he was, in a muggle three piece suit to match his brothers (Siriusâ idea; everyone else would be wearing dress robes and so, of course, the four of them had to be different enough to stand out), with the captain of the Slytherin team, Emma Vanity, of all people clutching his arm and looking stunning enough that James actually thought that perhaps Siriusâ idea of making Lily jealous might really work.
But then he saw her, descending the staircase with her head held high like royalty, and it was only a sharp kick from Vanity that made him remember that it was supposed to be him making her jealous tonight, not the other way around, and so he waited until he was sure she was looking their way before kissing Vanityâs hand and slipping the corsage heâd bought for Lily onto her wrist. He only had a couple of hours until Vanity considered their deal done and slipped off to rendezvous with her girlfriend under the stars but he intended to make the most of it, and so James pulled her close and spun them onto the dance floor, retracing the careful steps Sirius had spent hours teaching him to impress Evans.
How. Dare. He.Â
EMMA VANITY. HOW COULD YOU STOUP SO FUCKING LOW, POTTER. Do you love her, is that it? WHAT ON MERLINâS GOOD GRACES COULD I HAVE DONE TO YOU FOR YOU TO CHOOSE THAT SLYTHERIN BITCH OVER ME?????? YOU HOWLED BLOODY MURDER AFTER SHE SCORED MORE POINTS THAN YOU LAST SEASON. âfucking skanky slut slytherinâ SEEMED TO BE YOUR DUMB KNUCKLE DRAGGER RESPONSE. FUCK.
Despite the chaos passing through her brain, the only difference seen was the tightening of her grip on the bannister and a sudden extinguishing of life inside her eyes. She trailed them plaster-faced as she watched him place a corsage on her wrist and whisk her away onto the dance floor, whispering into her ear. The haughty laugh of her response filled acid in Lilyâs veins. Â
âbitchâ she whispered icily under her breath.Â
Cool and picturesque, she glided down the staircase determined to act her usual self, nay! The goddess of Yule-time cheer and merriment, whilst somehow maintaining that aphrodite sophistication. Lilyâs brain was slowly slogging into a jealous meltdown before someone caught her eye with a wave. Remus. Thank fuck.
He greeted her with a smile, a compliment, and inquired about the whereabouts of her âgolden-haired Gilderoyâ.
âHeâsnotmine!â She squawked. Remus lifted his hands in a mock-surrender. âBesides,â she added, moving her eyebrows in such a rapid way they were sure to fly off her face and ninja-star a fourth year. âThis isnât a mess of my own making. Not really.â She dropped the facard to give him a pitiful smile before rearranging her features again. âToodles, daaaarling!â With a curtsey and a kiss, she danced her way onward, searching for something, but not sure if Gilderoy was really the destination she was hoping to find.

Yuleâd ball-er watch out! James &Lily
As much as she hated to admit it... dressing up was fun.Â
For almost an entire month the words on everyoneâs lips were âThe Yule Ballâ, and more specifically who would be taking you. It whipped around the school faster than wildfire and caught everyone in the crosswind. From her perspective, the girls never seemed to talk about anything else, and the Gryffindor common room had become a hub of both planning and proposals. The Gryffâs werenât really known for their discretion and dignity.Â
As the Gryffindor prefect, Lily took the job of keeping everyone in line directly on her shoulders. She coached the fourth years, cooled the fifth years, coaxed the 6th years into a lack of booze, and straight up scared anyone in third, second or first who even dared to assume they could plan a heist to get in.Â
Frankly, she left her year alone. On the one hand, she didnât entirely trust them, but on the other, it was like herding cats. She had to have faith that they would find their own way in the least chaotic way possible. please-oh-god-have-mercy.
Lily was so busy her own date was the least of her concerns. And honestly, she knew James would ask her. She knew it. For all their back and forth, will they wonât they, she loved his sorry ass. And he loved hers. He would propose in some grandiose way, and sheâd hit him but accept and everything would be okay.
A month to go. Pssssht. The shitâs taking his time. But heâll be there.
Two weeks to go, nothing. Itâs fine. Weâve got time. Maybe his planning went askew
One week to go. Fuck it. I have to find the best date possible. Someone who would hurt James without hurting me. Who... Who... Who...
âAre you really going with Lockheart?!âÂ
âYes, Mary.â She replied with a sigh, adjusting her dress to push up her tits. âHe was the only person who would piss off Potter without me sludging back to Sev or dating one of his mates. I love those friends too much to date them in an effort to piss him off, you know?â She tossed her hair up in an attempt to add some volume before slipped on her heels. âPlus, he is quite charming. I might have fun!â She scrunched her nose in a squeal. âSee you out there girlie!â With a sharp slap on Maryâs butt, Lily rose, straightened and headed down to the main stairwell.Â
Rejection of Potter still stung deep. She heard he was with someone now, she didnât know who. Fuck him. Fuck her. Fuck Them. I never needed him, never will. She hastily soothed her features, removing any notion of bitterness as she reached the stairs. She extended her hand. gentle placed it on the bannister and walked down executing all the Disney Princess she had in her.Â

one-and-only-gilderoy:
This was all rather a lot to take in. Was this what it felt all the time, being on the other end of his wiles? Heâd never been wiled in return before. How heady. How dizzyingly wonderful. This felt like something straight off the pages of his trashiest romance novels. He felt as though any second heâd tilt out of this heady dream and back into reality, left aching for something heâd almost just begun to have.
David hissed in pain as she tugged his lip with her teeth but found that he only minded a very little. She had ensnared him so thoroughly in this moment he was quite forgetting which way was up. What a new experience.
âSurely you need oxygen as well.â He said, voice rougher than heâd expected, as if his mind had forgotten he could do things with his mouth besides kissing. âIn addition to me.â
âOxygen?â She breathed.âOxygen is nothing on this.â She started off small this time, little kisses that softly fell upon his lips. Trailing across his chin, she giggled, nipping and sucking the clench of his jaw before one last kiss on his earlobe. The boy smelled divine - she couldnât help but love being this close.
âDonât you think, David? What good is breath wasted on the breathless?â With fluttering eyes she kissed his lips once more before pulling back.Â
âMy heartbeat is playing catchup with the speed of magic. Itâs running so fast Iâm certain you can here it.â Though Lily blushed bashfully, she gently picked up his hand and placed it over her heart.
âItâs running for you, darling.â Another smile caught up in the sunshine and summerâs day.

âOh, youâre on, Evans!â
James ascended slower, shamelessly watching her fly and trying to think of something romantic to say about mud. Iâll never wash these robes again? No, that was just disgusting.
Drawing a blank on the mud metaphors, he drew level beside Lily and glanced over at her. âSo, how are we doing this?â
Was he watching her fly? Shaking her head a little, scoffing at her arrogance, Lily settled back on her broom. Nothing like a little flirting to fire up your motivation.
âI donât know, Potter, how do you want to do this?â She let the words drip from her tongue like honey, hoping to catch him the same way he caught her. She wanted him to beg for her, to bleed for her. She wanted him to want no others. Itâs hard when your crush is popular, it really is.Â
She began circling him, looping him, traping him in midair. She eventually settled parallel above, gripping onto her broom upside down.Â
Her face inches away from his own, she cocked an eyebrow.Â
âScared to be outdone, Potter?â

one-and-only-gilderoy:
âYou make âchaosâ sound so very much like âkissingâ.â Gilderoy said, voice more breathless than anticipated. Her breath ghosted his lips and his breath ghosted hers and he was practically on fire from the nerves and the wanting. Never in his life had he so badly wanted to kiss anyone. No one was watching and heâd hardly care if they did.Â
The whole world had narrowed to a pinpoint and on top of it: himself and Lily Evans. Merlin, he was in trouble. David swallowed, voice thick in his throat. All his romantic grand ideas were crumbling slowly away in the face of this: the pair of them tangled together in the soft pull of the lake.
âI think youâre going to be a horrible influence on me, Lily.â He muttered before closing the distance and kissing her.
As always, the wonders of Lilyâs brain subsequently cleared to none but his kiss. She would later recall the sensation many times that week, closing her eyes in transfiguration, or biting her lip between quidditch plays. All of it seemed so unreal, just as magic had to her eleven-year-old mind. He consumed her entirety with something so simple as this.
Gentle, she thought, fragile and scared, huh boy. Between their melding bodies, she moaned, tired from the exertion of fighting her instincts. Her cockiness wished to let this moment unravel them. She was greedier than anyone could have guessed, she wanted all of him for herself. She would take every part, leaving nothing left behind for himself.
Reluctantly, she paused with a quiver. âYou are mine, David, just as I am yours.â she leaned in capturing his lips, before sharply and playfully tugging at his bottom lip with her teeth. âYouâre all I need.â

one-and-only-gilderoy:
Gilderoy let his eyes wander back down to the magic, curiosity peaking. He absolutely would need her to explain it in more detail later. Practical and showy: exactly his brand. Well, practical wasnât really his brand but showy was so it made the list anyways.
He took her proffered hand and pressed a kiss to the back of it before twining their fingers together. Did people feel this way all the time? Merlin no wonder heâd kept himself from dating before now. Heâd never have managed to build the proper kind of reputation if he felt so deeply about everyone he made eyes at. Just one exception could hardly hurt.
âIt would be quite tragic, Iâm glad we agree.â He said, leaning in to ghost his lips across the skin of her cheek. No real touch, just the suggestion of one. But temptationâs half the fun.â
Lily tried, she really did. Decorum was a skill not easily mastered but over the years of sly bullying and questioning of her belonging, the skill had become a second skin to her. But decorum in the face of romance, in the face of him... she barely stood a chance.
Fluttering wild eyes closed, she forced herself to draw in a shakey breath.
âTemptation is feral beast, David.â Moving her face delicately towards his own, she brough them as close as could be. Green eyes sort brown, asking for a silent permission. âIf left unchecked, chaos can ensue.â
Her lips puckered slighly, though allowed her gentle and fragile gasps to pass through. He had her on a knifeâs edge, but by not touching him at all, she hoped he understood that no matter the decision he made, sheâd never ask for more than she was gifted.

one-and-only-gilderoy:
Gilderoy moved his legs carefully as to not intertwine with her own. They were both perfectly capable swimmers but he didnât know what the magic of Lilyâs tail would do if they got tangled together. He didnât quite fancy spending the rest of his life as a watery merman. Even if it meant that he got the privilege of spending it with Lily. Water made him pruney after all and that was hardly attractive.
He blinked, caught in her eyes for a moment longer than he cared to admit to. Their proximity made his heart trip a couple of steps. She knew his preferred name. He had told her secrets. They were so very close.
âNow, I wish the date was over so I could kiss you.â He murmured knowing that she would hear. âBut Iâm a gentleman. So Iâll wait until the proper end. Iâm going to do this right, Lily.â
She chuckled at his avoidance. âIt wonât bite you know, look!â With a little concentration, she split her legs and the water moved accordingly. Now equipped with two watery tails, Lily dipped her foot to touch his own. Nothing happened at all except the whirlpool avoided where their feet touched. As an explanation, she offered how tricky walking would be on the sea floor should water always separate them.
As much as it was muttered, she did hear it. Again this brought a fresh flush to kiss her face instead of him. She too was considering breaking the âcodeâof date conduct to feel his breath on her skin, his lips on her own. But he was right since this was his first ever she had to be on her best behavior.
Instead, she offered her hand for his lips to grace. âWe certainly wouldnât want that, now would we. Losing the status of a âproper dateââ Lily teased with warmth and love twinkling in her eyes.

one-and-only-gilderoy:
Gilderoy watched her reaction in satisfication that bordered on trepidation. Heâd seen that look in girls eyes before. It played to his ego just as much as it made him want to run. How would he explain to Lily that he didnât want that, not even with all of his teasing? Would she still want him even after he told her, would she still want this fragile, tenuous thing growing between them? He pushed the thoughts aside for now and forced himself not to worry. It was his, their, first ever date. No need to ruin it.
He admired her spellwork and the way the water moved about her legs as if actually part of her body. Small wonder she was top of their class. It was beautiful magic to say the least. When had she learned that, it hardly seemed academic.
âSays the girl who has made herself a mermaid.â David said with a grin as he gestured towards the tail. âAlmost as impressive as the rest of you, love.â
Like the flower of her name, Lily flourished and bloomed under his praise. Praise wasnât uncommon for one as curious as her, new spells were enginerred daily by herself and her friends. She often took them to different department to where they would provide the lost help. Here, however, all they aided were the mating ritual of a summer romance.
Swishing beside him, the whirlpool encapsulated the both of them, letting the warmth of him kiss her skin.
âSo whatâs the plan, sir?â Grnning wildly, Lily embellished her point with a finger tugging at her lips.

one-and-only-gilderoy:
Gilderoy stared, momentarily gobsmacked. This was what it felt like to have his own moves used on him. Surprisingly, he found that he rather liked the experience. It came with a certain thrill.
Rather than rushing directly into the water, he made sure to take his time, plus beating wildly in his throat the whole way. He took off his clothes one item at a time as he watched Lily in the water. âI prefer to take the less dramatic route.â He teased, slipping off his shorts before joining her in the water.Â
She shamelessly gaped, wide eyed and open mouthed, at his movements. Lingeringly impolitely on his slender thumbs hooking into his shorts, admiring the sun shining on his slowly rolling bareback.Â
As much as Lilyâs navel clenched and lust flushed down her body like treacle, slow and lingering and sickly sweet, she was not letting him win.
With a sly smile, she disappeared beneath the waves. She dove deeper and deeper before pulling her wand and pouring all that lust into her spell. âLascivaqua!â
Beneath her, the water swirled under her touch, and with a flick, she propelled herself upwards, water sashaying around her legs, warping into a tail.Â
Flicking her new tail, she swam closer to him. âMy my, David. Water certainly becomes you.â

one-and-only-gilderoy:
Gilderoy went pink around the ears as she held their joined hands up to her eyes, scrutinizing them. Heâd never had the tables turned on him like this. Normally he was the one dazzling and making other people blush. Apparently Lily had taken his all his movies along with his better sense and any desire for a private life.
âI wonât have any frame of reference,â He said with a shrug. Not like he particularly minded. Lily Evans seemed as good a first date as any. âAnd even if I did, I wouldnât mind in the slightest. Time with you is rarely regrettable.â
Pursing her lips into a smirk, she softly rolled her eyes at his compliment in bemusement. âCome on,â Lily ushered between gentle giggles, âIâll race you!â Untangling their hands, Lily began to run as fast as she could towards the lake, throwing off her clothes one by one as she went by.
âCome on Lockheart!â She hollered âDonât you want to jus-â SPLASH! Lily had taken a running jump and dived into the water with no onze of grace or dignity. She emerged wet and spluttering, silently thanking the godâs for the waterproof makeup spells sheâd learned. Pulling her now soaked hair away from her face, she stood in the water and reached out for him, as alluring as a siren with a face to match.
She called him to the ocean, would he let himself drown?

one-and-only-gilderoy:
âThereâs hardly any harm in telling a beautiful girl sheâs beautiful, is there?â Gilderoy asked, his smile bordering astonishingly close to something shy. Today his compliments had less bravado and more truth. She wanted all of him at once and he meant to try and give her that. Gilderoy and David all in one.
âI confess Iâm a bit nervous.â He admitted, reaching out to offer her a hand. Hand-holding. A new area of romance for him, as stupid as that sounded. Gil had never held anyoneâs had for more than a moment and actually wanted to keep the contact. âIâve never done something like this before. Youâre my very first first date.â
She stared at his hand startled but accepted it all the same. It was no surprise to those who knew her how winterâs cold breath remained in her fingers no matter the season, so his encompassing warmth sent a tingle up her arm. Encompassing they really were. Large and slightly rougher than her own, but still so very soft. Lily couldnât take her eyes from his hand and, without thinking, gently brought their twisted hands closer to her eye-line. Â
Veins wriggled slightly raised from the surface. Golden thread weaved up from his forearms and glinted in the sun. Her eyes traced upwards coming across his knuckles. A soft sigh inform of a laugh escaped her, there was something very distinctive about male hands and their knuckles. Lastly, she continued to the fingertips winding over to her delicate palm. Long and slightly golden themselves, the contrast to her pale palm was surprisingly comforting.
It was only then when she realized how odd her actions were, and she let their hands fall.
âIâm sorry,â She spluttered, hiding a little behind her bangs.âI guess I got a little, hehe, carried away.â
âI am very honored to be a part of your first date, and I hope to God I donât mess things up.â She looked at him smiling and moved to be closer to him.

one-and-only-gilderoy:
Gilderoy had spent most of the week dizzingly amazed that he actually had a proper date. An honest to goodness, write home to your mother, kiss the girl at the end sort of date. Though heâd rather cheated on that last part. He and Lily had already spent quite a bit of their time kissing. The thought of it made his skin feel supercharged.
Heâd gotten his swimsuit in France last summer, which meant it was rather more⌠revealing than most English suits, much more like the bottom of a girlâs suit than a proper manâs one. But he liked it and it fit him well. If it gave people more to gossip about what did he care? Still, couldnât quite wear it for a walk around the lake.Â
By the time heâd covered up a bit more (just a tee-shirt and shorts but more decent at least) and gotten himself down to the grounds the nerves had started to set in. What would he do if he opened up even more and she hated what she found? How would he ever recover? What if she hated his outfit, or thought his swimsuit vain and silly? What if she thought him vain and silly?
Then he caught sight of her and he forced the thoughts away. No time for that now. They had a date.
âLily Evans! Gorgeous as ever.â
Not subtle at all, Lilyâs eyes took him in. He seemed to shine more than the sunbeams cascading over him, it made him positively glow.
Her ears and cheeks flushed pink at the compliment and sent her into a tissy of clothing adjustments. Knowing youâre being viewed tends to send your mind spiraling on the individual faults you carry with you.Â
âOh hushâ, giggled she, taking a step towards him. âI trust youâre well?â Lily couldnât keep the grin off her face. He was actually here! They were actually going to do this? Yes, yes they were!
She was nervous, but god she was ready for it.

âWeâre not all like you, Potter. Some of us prefer putting in hard work to better ourselves rather than impressing our fanbases.â The morning dew glimmered beneath them, beautiful and inviting, but the cold morning air bit at her face and whipped her cheeks as red as her hair.Â
Lily didnât like knowing how easily she got distracted in game. Usually, she took the time to practice alone, hoping to envision her isolation in game to keep her focused. Of course, it didnât help when her main distraction beat her to the pitch.
With a sigh, she looked at his face, swallowing the bubble of excitement that had caught in her throat, and tried to find some decorum.
âAlright, you and me. One on one.â With a foot, she slicked up wet mud and splashed him in her speedy climb towards the sky.

Quidditch practice was one of the many places James was in his element, not that he liked to brag. But while showing off in front of his many fans and admirers wherever possible was a very much appreciated highlight, the main reason he enjoyed Quidditch was, quite frankly, because he loved to fly.
And so the hour before Saturday morning Quidditch practice had become something of a respite, a time for an early morning fly to clear his head and try out some new manoeuvres without an audience in case they went horribly wrong. Normally, the pitch was deserted at this time, but it was with no small surge of happiness that James noticed a familiar red head making its way towards where he was flying laps.
âEvans!â he called out, descending in slow circles to dismount gracefully just in front of her. âPractice doesnât start for another hour yet. What brings you down here so early?â

Diving into the Unknown
Lily Evans had spent the week in anticipation and trepidation, not knowing which tugged at her more. But for all her fretting time refused to slow even for an instant, and the day had arrived.
Swimming wasnât uncommon for Hogwarts students. In fact, it was a tradition for the Gryffindor 5th years to tussle with the Giant Squid to relieve exam stress. Lily Evans liked swimming and she liked water.
However, bathing suits... not so much. As a teenage girl, she suffered the implemented societal pressures that came with being alive. Mainly, body image issues. They werenât major, but they were there and made her worry about herself all too much for comfort.
It had taken Mary, Docas and Alice at least 4 hours of swimwear shopping, trading and threatening til Lily found something she felt comfortable in. It was a two-piece, a little sexy, but mostly playful. It made her happy.
With this underneath a rich emerald summer dress, Lily tilted her floppy straw hat against the piercing sun and waited for David.
