More big brother ghost AU because I'm insufferable and this is actually what I wanted to post last night when I ended up writing baby Yue Qi angst instead.
Shen Yuan, being the adult who awkwardly tried to raise Yue Qi and Shen Jiu, absolutely gave them some horrendous modern lingo and habits. Also, SVSSS came out in 2015, so we can presume that Shen Yuan also died in 2015, and so they know horrible outdated memes now.
Consider, if you will, you are Shang Qinghua. You transmigrated into your shitty porn novel 25 years ago, and the pre-plot stuff is beginning. You're already set up as head disciple, and oh look! Baby Qi-Ge is here! You somehow managed to not notice until he was already head disciple and bonded with Xuan Su, but oh well, you've been busy.
You're in a peak lord meeting, and your shizun is talking about yet another Bai Zhan disciple who somehow managed to break his arm in three places by falling into the An Ding waste disposal pit. You're barely paying attention, until you hear your little traumatized future sect leader mutters under his breath, "Rip. Press F to pay respects."
After the meeting, Shang Qinghua pulls little not-Yue Qingyuan aside and breathlessly shouts, "PROUD IMMORTAL DEMON WAY!"
To which he responds by blinking in confusion. "How do you know about that bedtime story? Do you know Yuan-ge?" Definitely-actually-Yue-Qingyuan-somehow says with a desperate tone to his voice.
Oh this is so fucked.

[ Sooo, I had some thoughts about Scum Villain and I decided to make my own AU where Shen Yuan was transmigrated before Luo Binghe became his disciple. And because of this change the dynamics between characters will be slightly different than in original story🤗 ]
[ Here Ming Fan and Luo won't like each other at the start - they'll have their arguments, even a big fight! But throught the story they'll become good friends with each other☺️ ]
Tumblr media
[ After Luo's "death" in the Abyss, Shen Qingqiu, Ming Fan and Ning Yingying will visit his grave constantly. While Shen Qingqiu is feeling guilty for lying to his disciples about what really happened to him and miserable because of his action towards Binghe, Ming Fan and Ning Yingying are mourning the loss of their dear friend. ]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ While trying to accept the fact that they will never see their friend again, their reunion will be very messy. There will be confusion, denial, anger and relief, but even more questions - to Binghe AND to their teacher as well. ]
Tumblr media
[ A bonus drawing of their futureselves, but more in their 30s. ]
Tumblr media
[ I hope that you will like my little rambling about this piece, but I will say beforehand that in my universe SQ and LB have more father/son dynamic. ]

Bro, why does my brain come up with the best and most depressing shit when I'm trying to sleep.
Sj!sqq getting deaged to before he joined the sect. He sees yqy and immediately full-on body tackles him to the ground, hitting, crying, and screaming at him. yqy just lets him.
"Why! Why didn't you come back? I-I waited there like a goddamn fool, I waited for so long..." his chest heaving and voice crackling, nothing like the Shen Qingqiu everyone knew.
"Why didn't you save me? Am I not good enough for you anymore? Now that you're in Cang Qiong, you don't have time to think about the dirty slave boy he left behind." Sj sobbed out. Deep down, sqq was still the same traumatized boy who hoped and dreamed of his savior.
"I thought... I thought you cared. I loved you..."

thinking of a disciple-era qijiu au where the cang qiong sect leader doesn't allow shen jiu into the sect despite yue qi's efforts to convince him.
so shen jiu makes use of a ploy he's seen being used by a woman to avoid being sent away by her family in an arranged marriage.
"he defiled me," shen jiu lies confidently, ignoring the way said boy's head snaps towards him in shock. "yue qi defiled me and has promised to take responsibility."
in his peripheral, shen jiu can see the way yue qi's eyes were wide open, his pupils trembling.
serves him right, shen jiu internally mocks. if yue qi thinks protect his reputation by making the cang qiong sect take him in, then shen jiu will make sure that he pulls his head down from the skies and back to the mud in which they both sprouted from.
yue qi doesn't deny shen jiu's words, much to the sect leader's visible consternation.
"yue qi," the sect leader calls out. "look at me and tell me the truth."
ah. maybe shen jiu made a mistake. if yue qi reveals his lie here then not only will he have wiped himself clean of shen jiu and their shared past, but also make it so that shen jiu's reputation may be further ruined.
before shen jiu could resign himself to pulling apart the lie himself, steel and conviction enters yue qi's eyes. "it's true," he answers. "i have greatly wronged xiao jiu and would like to make ammends by marrying him."
shen jiu blinks, too surprised to respond to yue qi's declaration. it seems that cang qiong has managed to teach yue qi to lie better...
the sect leader takes a moment to study yue qi's face and what he finds makes him let out a deeply aggrieved sigh.
"very well," the sect leader concedes. relief washes over shen jiu. "i trust that you can make the arrangements yourself."
yue qi perks up and tosses a quick excited look towards shen jiu before bowing deeply towards the elder, shen jiu belatedly following suit. "thank you, shizun. i'll handle everything."
shen jiu's heart thuds in his chest. doesn't this mean he'll become a part of cang qiong sect now?

Thinking about what if SJ had left the Qiu manor a little earlier (some other final straw breaks the camel's back sooner), and actually manages to get a lead on YQ and follows it to Cang Qiong Mountain while YQ is in the thick of his "locked suffering in a cave" arc.
SJ arrives and is immediately struck by the needle-in-a-haystack-ness of the situation. The population of all the peaks put together is huge, and he has no clout to leverage, no reason to get people to care what he's there for and a strong reluctance to tip his hand about... basically anything. Even totally earnest intentions to find his childhood friend.
So SJ skips the usual disciple trials (none are being held at the time he arrives anyway) and just steals a disciple uniform for An Ding. An Ding has a lot of outer disciples. SJ doesn't even know which peak it is, he just sees the place that has the most faceless/nameless lackeys doing grunt work and goes okay, I bet they don't always know all their own by name and face, and he's correct.
The bluff works hilariously well. When he gets back to An Ding with his "fellow" disciples he just finds an unused storage room to sleep in, and even when he gets sort-of caught out at it the shixiong who catches him just bemoans the hazing/bullying on the peaks. When SJ establishes that he's fine sleeping in the store room, Shang-shixiong even bribes him to keep his mouth shut about the "bullying epidemic" by giving him a proper cot and blankets to use. So SJ doesn't even have to deal with being in a dorm.
He multitasks actually learning what cultivation he can from the other An Ding disciples and masters, and investigating all the other latest arrivals to the peaks. It isn't long before Shang-shixiong spills the beans about the rising star of Qiong Ding Peak, who came from apparently nowhere during the selection trials, matches Yue Qi's description, has the same surname, and disappeared mysteriously a few weeks ago.
Shen Jiu's gut twists around at word of the disappearance. He is all too aware of the kinds of things it usually means when handsome, talented boys with no family or backing just disappear mysteriously all of a sudden. He's heard things about the sort of uses cultivators have for people with a lot of raw talent and not a lot of knowledge or protection, too. Qiu Jianluo used to make it a point to explain exactly what SJ's cultivation talents could be used for (cauldron stuff), both as a threat and also as a warning against him trying to go outside and find a master. Even Yue Qi had sort of tried to warn him, in his own way, by demanding SJ always keep it a secret.
Yue Qi might have believed that the righteous cultivators in an official sect wouldn't stoop to such dirty, underhanded methods, and might have thought he was safe here. SJ holds no such optimistic illusions. The An Ding peak lord give every impression of the same kind of sycophantic public servants who used to take kickbacks from wealthier families in his home city, and even only glimpsed at a distance, the sect leader gives him the creeps.
Anyway, SJ eventually figures out that something is up with the Ling Xi caves, goes down and finds a sealed-off cavern with just a few cracks he can peer through. Cue reversal of the last time he saw Yue Qi, with the older boy now being the one locked away by a cruel master, and SJ having to whisper reassurances and promises of rescue.

Qi-Ge has always been stupid(ly in love) with Xiao Jiu, and he always will be even if it kills him.
Qijiu's reunion at the Immortal Alliance Conference could have so easily gone differently. If Yue Qi had had the time to express joy over Shen Jiu's survival, before Shen Jiu got angry at apparently being abandoned for a better life, and before Yue Qi then assumed that the failed rescue was the unforgivable harm rather than the apparent failure to return at all, they might have gotten somewhere.
But, you know, another way things could have gone differently is Yue Qi and Shen Jiu not coming face-to-face and recognizing each other at the same time. It could have been one or the other.
Wu Yanzi presumably can't slip into the conference because he's (not invited and also) a wanted criminal, but he might have been able to send his apprentice in to walk around, with Shen Jiu pretending to be just another random disciple among the crowd. If Shen Jiu had disguised himself to enter the conference early, he could have easily seen Head Disciple of Cang Qiong Mountain Sect Yue Qingyuan in a position of dutiful prominence during some opening speech, without Yue Qi noticing him in return.
The conclusions that Shen Jiu would jump to without any indication Yue Qi even remembers him? Bad. Obviously, the only thing to do there is take furious revenge and completely ruin this Yue Qingyuan's beautiful new life somehow.
Likewise, if Shen Jiu had been wandering around the conference to scope out the valuables, Yue Qi could have seen him through the crowd without being noticed in return. Maybe CQMS's head disciple is better situated making the mingling rounds rather than standing up somewhere with the talking heads. Before Shen Jiu knows what's happening here, he's being accosted in a quiet corner by some young master on the verge of crying on his stolen uniform. He just barely manages not to stab this guy about it.
"Xiao-Jiu, you're alive! I came back for you but I was too late and found that awful place burned to the ground! Nobody knew where you'd gone. You're a disciple of Huan Hua Palace now? I'm so happy for you!" this person says, beaming with ugly joy- wait, is this...? "I'm so sorry that Qi-Ge was so useless."
Shen Jiu barely manages to stumble out of this conversation without passing out. Yue Qi gets dragged away by some Cang Qiong master for some social responsibility, clinging to Shen Jiu's hands and swearing to find him later, and he thinks Shen Jiu is a Huan Hua Palace disciple. What was Shen Jiu supposed to say to that assumption? That he's actually lying scum?!
Shen Jiu now has to survive this conference without Yue Qi finding out the truth and without Wu Yanzi finding out about Yue Qi. Upping the tension of this fic idea: maybe Wu Yanzi does find out that Shen Jiu knows the head disciple of CQMS. (Maybe Wu Yanzi was lurking around the edges in disguise as well. Maybe Wu Yanzi witnesses some later conversation between Qijiu.) Wu Yanzi now wants to use Shen Jiu as an "in" to rob or otherwise harm CQMS.
If Shen Jiu is the one who saw Yue Qi first and jumped to angry conclusions and revenge plans about it, maybe the spiteful Shen Jiu likes the idea of reuniting with Yue Qi just to fuck him over like that. He's going to regret that pretty quickly, though.

qijiuyuan where sy is yqy's disciple, and everyone believes that there is a love triangle involved
everyone in cang qiong knows that yqy is besotted with sqq! they've witnessed it since the qing generation were head disciples, and that devotion hasn't waned even after decades of cold rejection. the entirety of cang qiong knows that not even the threat of death would drive yqy away– in fact, he'd even offer his own sword for sqq to cut him down as he pleases. it's impossible for him to love another.
sy being taken in as yqy's disciple is a surprise. the lanky, wide-eyed boy was more fit for qing jing or an ding, not qiong ding's cold, political battlefield. still, they accept yqy's decision– his favoritism to sqq aside, he is an excellent sect leader. there must be a reason why sy is made a qiong ding disciple.
it becomes obvious, soon enough. sy is good with his words, although a little oblivious to the effect he has on the people around him. a warm ray of sunlight that focuses on nurturing and protecting rather than seeking power, one that can stand firmly and abide by his principles despite the machinations against him. it doesn't take long before sy has most of the sect wrapped around his finger.
he becomes qiong ding's head disciple. and then everything changes.
sy's admiration for his shizun isn't very subtle. waiting on yqy on hand and foot, making sure the food are his favorites, ensuring his comfort at meetings, listening to him, comforting him, and so on. at first, they thought nothing of it. most of them had a crush on yqy at some point in their lives. but then, yqy indulges his head disciple by giving him trinkets and sweets, when normally, his indulgent gift giving is limited to sqq and sqq alone.
oh no. cang qiong is unsure how they should feel about this turn of events. some are excited to see sqq fall from his high horse, losing the sect leader's favor. some are worried that there would be a bloodbath. some try to stay away from qing jing and qiong ding as much as possible, especially after sqq's radio silence.
it was an an ding disciple who discovered it first– that sqq has been leaving sy gifts of his own. extravagant and handmade gifts. paintings, literary works, calligraphy brushes, embroidered robes... and then someone says that they've witnessed sqq telling sy that he's always welcome on qing jing, should he find qiong ding lacking.
it starts off a chain reaction. now everyone is convinced that yqy likes sqq, but sqq likes sy, but sy likes yqy. yqy is trying to be nice to sy in hopes of gaining sqq's favor, but the qing jing peak lord only has eyes for his warmhearted disciple. said disciple hopelessly longs for yqy and remains gentle but impersonal with sqq.
in reality, yqy spends much time convincing the shens that he loves them both bc of his own heart and not bc of anything else. sqq is affronted that they think he dislikes yqy. have they not seen him accept yqy's embarrassing actions with only a grumble? have they not noticed that the sect leader's guan and robes are created by his very own hands? also, sy clearly reciprocates his feelings! he wouldn't have accepted sqq's gifts or be making labor-intensive sweets for him otherwise.
meanwhile, sy is wondering just what the heck is going on.

yue qingyuan qi deviating and shen qingqiu forced to resort to demonic cultivation techniques in order to contain the xuan su sword.
I'm imagining this all going down in the center of Qiong Ding, the raging Sect Leader, Xuan Su Sword, locked in combat with Qing Jing's Lord, both with incomprehensible power burning through their veins, the titanic power of Xuan Su being strangled by the tendrils of heretical strength long hidden.
The Qiong Ding Sect Master in full-blown Qi deviation with the Qing Jing Peak Lord on the brink, the unused demonic techniques unbalancing his already unstable cultivation to a hair-raising point.
Both of Cang Qiong's leaders dancing on a knife's edge, with one already bleeding.
I just think Itd be cool

imagine an au where shen yuan transmigrates into a blank slate npc with very little system involvement, traveling around for a while until he's found by yue qingyuan and taken back to the sect because apparently shen qingqiu went missing around his transmigration period and shen yuan looks exactly like him, so it must be him, but then a few weeks later when he's just settled in on the peak and accepted his fate the real shen qingqiu shows up who was just on vacation and everyone forgot.
now there are two shen qingqiu's, one of whom is the real one and the other an amnesiac they gaslighted into believing he is shen qingqiu.
anyway—shen qingqiu has a new didi now!
