     Sweat clung to his brow as his chest heaved with heavy breaths, as though his lungs were struggling against an unseen force that prevented him to breathe. Even after the SHADOWS of his nightmare had faded from the corners of his eyes, Ryou could still feel the cold grip of a fist around his throat, the ghastly image of a manic grin, and the stabbing pain of pure gold digging SHARPENED edges beneath his skin in a relentless assault. Trembling hands sought out familiar warmth, the chilling touch of his own losing the frigid numbness the longer the held onto them.

     Yugi’s presence, after a few moments of painful silence, gradually allowed him to return to the present, away from the DARKNESS that haunted his past, and into the light of tomorrow.

     “… I-I… I’m s-sorry…” He breathed, voice a weak tremble, his frame not much better. “I… I…” The night terrors were FREQUENT, though how could the silveret confess of such a thing to the other? Ryou enjoyed Yugi’s presence more than anything, especially at night where he could hold the other close and enjoy the softness and warmth the boy radiated so WONDERFULLY. “… I-it… it happens… s-sometimes…” He mumbled the white lie, hoping that in downplaying the frequency of the event would keep Yugi from leaving.

              he’s  joking,  of  course.  were  yugi  to  fall  asleep,  seto  would  ensure  his  boyfriend  achieved  a  peaceful  spell  of  rest.  to  the  proposal  of  them  spending  time  together  after  his  appointment,  he  felt  his  chest  lighten.  the  constant  reminder  that  he  was  wanted  and  loved  was  enough  to  keep  him  going  in  a  world  where  not  much  else  could.

     He’d made a point of going with Seto to every appointment though, wanting to make sure that the taller boy got the support that he needed - that he deserved. The King of Games had promised himself that, so long as Seto let him be present, he would make sure that the CEO never had to face any of this alone.

     He’d have a hand to hold, whether he admitted that he needed it or not.

Drinking Starters - Fluff/Fun || ✩

     The bottle was a pretty gradient of pastel pink, peach, and white, it’s name a BRILLIANT holo-foil that reflected in the lowlight of Ryou’s living room space. The fruit liquor was sweet, DANGEROUSLY so, and while the pair had vaguely promised not to allow it’s deceptively harmless taste to overtake them, the temptation had evolved into an entirely different beast once that first glass had been downed. The entire bottle had been drained of it’s contents throughout the night, and while the silveret had been MILDLY drunk, he found that his company was far gone by comparison.

     Yugi’s face spoke volumes, eyes heavy, lips curled into a wide and silly smile, and cheeks FLUSHED from the intake of alcohol– the sight made Ryou laugh into the back of his hand, finding it all too endearing. Perhaps he should have limited the other’s intake, seeing as how much smaller the game king was by comparison of himself; How much LESS it would take to be the cause of his undoing.

     Those very spoken words– “You’re so hot”– only further supported Ryou’s assumptions.

     “Adorable~” He cooed, reaching forth to give the other’s cheek a gentle touch, thumb smoothing over the BRIGHT pink surface with open amusement. “Simply adorable. That’s enough drinking for tonight, I’d say, Yugi.” The words felt heavy on his tongue, though not impossible to speak out. Logic was something easily retained, even in instances such as this, however more difficult it was to enact upon it.

     The boy was heavy against him, having at some point decided to make his entire being his resting place for the night, though Ryou could hardly say he MINDED that fact. Though heard, Yugi’s words were mumbled and unintelligible, but from the manner the other’s face all but shoved itself against his chest, there was only one course of action to follow next.

     “Let’s sleep now, love.” He murmured gently, fingers tracing LAZY shapes against the smaller’s sides. “You can sing your praises of me tomorrow.”

     Another SLURRED series of mumbles, eliciting yet another bout of suppressed laughter from the silveret.

     “You’re so drunk–!” His voice rose an octave, alcohol enhancing just how HUMOROUS it all was.

          the  gentleness  behind  his  OWN  smile  was  almost  criminal,  especially  with  how  unwilling  he  normally  was  to  exhibit  even  a  hint  of  genuine  happiness.  it  was  a  weird  feeling  –  one  he  was  still  getting  used  to  –  but,  a  nice  one…

     There it was again - that warmth, rising up from his chest to colour his cheeks. He had to wonder if Seto knew that he was able to make Yugi blush so easily, especially when the brunet allowed himself to be so... sweet.

                                  there’s  a  pause  between  this  and  his  next  response.  they’ve  been  together  for  quite  some  time  now,  but  hearing  it…  even  READING  those  three  words  still  brings  pause.
