The awkwardness at the pull of her lips eased a little - oh thank goodness this wasn’t some kind of business visit.

“Well then.” She readjusted her poise somewhat, straightening her back and pushing herself a little higher up on her tail. Better to be a respectful host than a scornful ‘sister’. “Would you like to come in? Perhaps share a drink?”

The mention of drink led to the small host of servants to cease their loitering in wait about the door in order to set up a tea table: they didn’t know whether he’d be staying for it, but it was always better to make the effort.

"Cassio."

She too waited in silence, although there was something of a forced pleasantry pulling into her smile.

Eventually she did speak up, however.

“And, er... what brings you to my humble abode, might I ask? It has been some time since I have seen you...”

For a moment all the snake-woman could do was chuckle - it started light at first, but had a dark twist as it tapered. She gave the spectre an almost pitying glance, punctuated with an over-the-top puppy-dog pout.

“My my. Insufferable? It’s almost as if you expect people to treat you with respect.”

The light smirk that played at her lips was cruel and mocking, yet the words slithering from between them stated not as insult but as simple truth:

“In the eyes of most, you are an abomination, my dear. Insufferable is the best you’re ever going to get. With that in mind, am I not gracious for merely informing you of your poor attire? Am I not kind, for using my tongue, and not my weapon?”

“Yes… impeccable. You just keep calling it that.

“I was speaking more of your insufferable attitude than your wardrobe selection, but I suppose it works either way, doesn’t it?”

“You believe my attire on the Rift is the only thing in my wardrobe? It is simply to allow better movement, dear. And my evening gown is hardly appropriate for evisceration and other such gruesome activity, now, is it?

“But no, sadly such impeccable taste is not common of all of Noxus’ citizens, though on average we are far better garbed than other city-states.”

“… What crawled into your breakfast and died this morning? I don’t go about insulting your lack of fashion. Or lack of clothing, for that matter. Honestly, what is your problem? Is this a Noxian thing or a you thing?”

What does Cass consider the biggest downside of this form?

“Oh, the adjustments I have had to make to my daily routines are plentiful, I assure you - but there are some more… delicate aspects, that a lady should not impart.”

While she would never ignore the power granted by the transformation she underwent, there are of course difficulties. Not so much in movement - the muscles in her snake half are more than strong enough to make her even faster than she was with legs. But sitting and lying down become problems, especially when so very few pieces of furniture are adjusted for it. There’s simply too much of her, and it’s not always something that can be accommodated. While her family may be more understanding and accepting of this, others... aren’t so much.

Her snake skin sheds about once a season, and it’s an ordeal that normally takes some time to complete and just as much to clean up after, as there is a lot of shed skin, after all. Dead skin is something anyone who cares for their body will have encountered, but a snake shed is something entirely different.

And, of course, there is the inability to wear trousers.

But all of that is nothing in comparison to being treated like you have a crippling disability. Her initial difficulty with the form is something she has overcome, but sensing the disrespect, pity and ignorance from others - even and especially those afraid to speak it thanks to her reputation and status - is perhaps the biggest downside she has encountered.

At the very least you do not have to deal with your own family ridiculing you. Yet. Savour that.
