This is Meredith, a friend of mine who, whenever I encounter her at parties I always ask her about her research on this stuff. She's fat-positive and doing research for her PhD on weight-loss surgery in Canada. In her tweets she says she's looking to talk to people who are "engaged in fat politics, have had negative or harmful experiences in surgery", particularly cis men, trans and non-binary people, and BIPOC.
Meredith is one of the most gentle and kind people I know and I'm sure talking to her will be a wonderful experience. It seems like she could use more fat trans voices in her research, and I am sharing this with her permission, because I know there are a lot of people on tumblr who have a lot to say. Let your voices be heard!
Contact her at besseym at uoguelph dot ca, and signal boost!

Can we talk about telling fat people how we are impressed with their confidence?
Confidence is an inside job, and trust me, people with fat bodies are working on it every single day. Most likely more than those in non-marginalized bodies. We can tell by how upset you get when we post our photos, --- how dare I revel in this body that you spend every moment obsessing about trying not to look like? Ouch, that would hurt...I get it, but lashing out won't help me or you or anyone you think might be listening, it just makes all people feel less safe in their own bodies.
If you care for them, just tell them they are rocking their new swimsuit without saying you are impressed with their confidence. ---- We know you are saying you would feel shame if you looked like us. It is really hard to have compassion when faced with back-handed compliments.
If you don't care for them, move on, because we probably don't care about what you think anyway.

I think the thing that drives me the most batshit about the medical fatphobia conversation is that the burden of proof feels so exactly backwards. Just from an obvious best practices standpoint???
Things like intentional malnourishment, intentionally incapacitating vital organs through surgery, denial of potentially lifesaving medical care until those things are done, etc.
Those are all pretty extreme. The kinds of things it feels like a “first do no harm” system should have a lot of solid evidence for before recommending or implementing them.
But they’re so bog standard and accepted and everyone from doctors to your own family will look at you like you’re a flat-earther when you suggest maybe we shouldn’t be defaulting to that.

Every time I photograph a fat, fabulous babe I know I am unravelling internal bias (since I also live in a fat body) and sharing the images feels like exposing part of who I am, and how free I want to feel in my own skin.

Beautiful art @nicknelsonsupremacy
It's equally beautiful when intelligent people look at their own thoughts and ideas and change them based on what is right, what is true and what is universally helpful. Great work @fatliberation! You are helping make the world a safer place <3
I'm new to tumblr, (actually it’s been 14 years since I was here last) so forgive me if my repost isn't done correctly.
Thanks for this blog. It radicalized me tremendously in the past few weeks. I did this today (legally lol so you may post it) and thought you would appreciate it
THIS IS THE GREATEST THING TO EVER COME OUT OF RUNNING THIS BLOG. OP YOU ARE THE BOMB. RESPECT!!

Welcome to the Rebellion
This blog centres photography from a body liberation standpoint, but it is about so much more. Anti-diet culture, HAES, IE and more.
I will share some of the sexy photos I take with women who are ready for the world to make room for them in every way imaginable.
So, if you want to see artistic photos of bodies, or create some of them this might be the place for you. It is not a fetish site, sorry I will not reply to DMs.
