I feel like the behavior of certain characters in S7 starts to make a lot more sense when you consider the passage of time relative to each character's perspective. While Echo, Octavia, and Diyoza have all lived several years on Skyring, it's only been about three weeks since Eligius IV landed in Eden from the perspective of Clarke, Madi, Murphy, Raven, Emori, and most of Wonkru. One month ago, Clarke and Madi were living peacefully in Shallow Valley. One month ago, Spacekru was still on the ring with Monty and Harper. One month ago, Jordan had never met another human besides his parents. One month ago, Wonkru was trapped in a bunker with a failing farm and no means of escape. These people are dealing with a LOT right now.

I don’t know if anyone has talked about this yet, but Echo has been on the ground and fighting for at least 15 years more than all of skaikru. So everyone who’s saying that she can’t change should remember that she has been fighting and killing since she was 6 and it is part of who she is. It’s not something she learnt like the rest of skaikru.

All of skaikru had comparatively peaceful lives and know how to live in peace, so it is easier for them to change back to that. But Echo has never known peace and it was a new concept for her, something she had to learn. So it’s a lot harder for her.
