so I may be behind the curve on this one and people have already complained about this idk but my dashboard updated today and removed everyone's profile pics which I thought was the worst thing they've done yet, but then I realised.. when someone reblogs something from the OP, it now doesn't show a link to the OPs blog? It just says 'x reblogged'

and if you reblog something from someone else who was also reblogging, it will show as being reblogged from that person..

but due to the previous removal of being able to click through previous posts you still can't track it back to the OP.

so unless I'm missing something I currently can't see any possible way to view the OP of a post via a reblog. I can put up with their silly aesthetic changes but removing all credit to the original creators of posts is just ???? is this actually deliberate or have they messed something up somewhere? because wow nothing makes me inspired to create like knowing I'll be getting zero credit when it's reblogged.

It’s funny how every time Staff does something that massively upsets every corner of the userbase, they post one of those art collection things to try and distract everyone and act like they’re not receiving overwhelmingly negative feedback in the support box.

at least whenever I feel like I fucked up my life, I have tumblr staff to remind me that at least I didn’t fuck up as badly as they did when they slowly ruined tumblr by making all these changes no one asked for and turning what was a special, unique site into… whatever it became now

@staff So I’m scrolling down my dash and there are, I kid you not, 12 posts between posts from people I actually follow. Sponsored posts, ads, recommended blogs and likes from other people. Those are 12 posts too many if you ask me. What is even the point of having a platform based on people curating their dash when I see people I follow every 12 posts?

another really fun (stupid as fuck) thing staff has done to the dashboard is removing the username of the person you reblogged from if they appear anywhere in the body of the post

there's a bigass fucking void where the username of the reblogged blog should go. why? for what purpose?

it's bc anthonyampersand reblogged it from halftype, the last commenter. the fact is that if you reblog a post from anyone who appears in the post, whether it be OP or another commenter, or even yourself, it just does not show the username. it is quite possibly the biggest fuck you i can imagine to everyone complaining about losing prev tags, bc now you can't even tell who prev even was.

just as offended with what they do with OP posts. what is this, an icon for ants?

... it's probably so they dont have the two icon sizes on the dashboard. "streamlining the design of the dashboard" or some design philosophy bullshit like that. get rid of the large icon from blogs you follow, you only get the tiny OP icon. because users don't actually like having large, visible profile pictures they can associate with the users they choose to follow (sarcasm)

i want to know the blog whose reblogging stuff. a dashboard is mostly reblogs, it's sad as hell to not see the icons.

sure, i can know who the blog is by reading the tiny text username. but we can easily tell that "large icon separated from the post + username text" is so obviously better than either tiny icon or only username text.

i'm actually so irritated oh my god.

i dont see how the minimal aesthetic improvement (it's not actually an improvement) is meant to compensate for. literally removing information from the dashboard.
