I also have more backstory for the “Bendy Sam” and “A Bendy Sam” AUs while doing other things throughout the past month so I’m dumping a lot of them here: (long post ahoy!)

Okay, so that ‘joke’ kind of AU I mentioned much earlier this year? The one about the Projectionist still having human memories and Wally Franks being reborn as a Tape Player with a Hat? I actually pretty much have gone ahead and combined it with these two AUs. Partly because I like the idea that Norman and Sammy did get along if not fully friends before they’re transformations, and that Wally drove Sammy nuts but Sammy never outright hated the ‘kid’ because he was a hard worker. Just really annoying half the time.

(Quick backstory I came up with for Wally too: I actually do love the idea that Wally DID get out of the Studio before things really spiraled out of control, and the idea that he did eat an entire chocolate cake spiked with enough ink to turn most normal people into a crazed ink person. HOWEVER, since he wasn’t a good target for the ink, the ink itself just laid dormant in his system. Until he died relatively young in Florida of more ‘natural’ causes that is. (The ink still probably had something to do with the heart attack though.) After which, his soul was dragged into the Studio and made into the Tape Recorder like I said.)

Minor confession, I’ve never actually read ‘Dreams Come to Life’ but after stalking around the fandom and finding out as much as I could about, I will admit I do like Buddy as a character. So I go back and forth about also including him in these AUs. I’m like 90% there to just having him be included and sort of one of Sammy’s allies once the Studio fully goes under (I’ll explain more of that later), but I’m also not opposed to the idea of there being multiple Boris’s running around the Studio and he may not be the one Henry encounters in game.

Norman and Wally (and Buddy if I do finally decide to include him) actually know about Sammy’s infection and ‘addiction’ to the ink before things really get out of control. Wally knew the ink was normal in canon, based on that one audiolog where he talked about the ink actively moving and avoiding his mop, and since he was the janitor most likely worked later than others, cleaning after most had left or just at night if the staff were forced to stay late at crunch times. Norman’s just too observant to not notice Sammy’s changed behavior after being exposed to the ink and won’t just write it off as Sammy being stressed. My original idea was that Sammy actually tries to fight the ink and keep himself from consuming more of it because in the beginning he’s lucid enough to know that’s not normal and he would hurt himself if he did. But after being overworked and stressed from a deadline, he was exhausted enough to not realize he was giving into the ink’s demands until AFTER he had consumed more ink. Then it becomes harder to fight back since the ink’s building up enough that it starts affecting his mind and thoughts, but Sammy still tries because 1. WELL, THIS ISN’T NORMAL BUT I CAN’T TELL ANYONE WITHOUT ENDING UP LOOKING CRAZY AND BEING LOCKED UP, and 2. he’s stubborn and DON’T TELL ME WHAT TO DO! Which eventually results in an incident after pretty much everyone else has gone home when there’s actually enough ink to puppet Sammy’s body/limbs to force him to move and collect more ink while Norman and Wally try to stop it from happening while Sammy begs them to stop him. Afterwards, none of them know what to do, so even though Wally and Norman keep checking in and keeping an eye on Sammy as much as they can and just being there so Sammy can talk to them if it gets too rough on him, they sort of just... Have to get more information and try to come up with a plan. (Buddy would get involved like not during the incident but maybe the next day after eavesdropping on them quietly discussing it. He’s dropping something off and just mentions like ‘hey, did you guys notice the ink moves?’ at which point he would be grabbed and dragged back into the room.)

(Still going off the point above because as I mentioned that was my original idea...) BUT THEN, UH I READ @inkdemonapologist ‘s SHORT FIC ‘PARASITE’ AND SHAZZ HAD IT SO SAMMY WAS BEING SUFFOCATED BY THE INK IF HE DIDN’T GIVE IT MORE AND I LOVE THAT IDEA! SO MUCH! I am seriously tempted to incorporate that idea instead so Norman and Wally get involved by finding Sammy half dead from the ink suffocating him for not giving into its demands after which the ink only gives Sammy enough air to tell him what it wants. Which results in Norman desperately trying to keep Sammy from dying while Wally runs off to get what he needs and returns. Everything else would be the same in the point above.

It’s not long after this that Sammy ‘snaps’ and when he regains his senses, realizes he kidnapped and sacrificed one of his coworkers to the Ink Machine. For these AUs, this is finally the point that terrifies him into confronting Joey Drew to try and fix what’s happening to him. Joey tries fast talking and smoothing things over, but Sammy isn’t having it given how freaked out he is plus the ink in his system making him more erratic and aggressive. Joey is also worried about Sammy leaving and getting outside help because that would reveal what’s going on with the Ink Machine and Ink Demon. Things escalate quickly as a result and.... Sammy goes into the Machine.

At some point after this, Norman is killed by the Ink Demon after investigating where the strange noises and shadows where coming from under the projection booth. Before his death though, he discovers what happened to Sammy (both of these AUs). (Buddy would discover this as well before Norman’s death, if involved, as well as accidentally free the Ink Demon.) Wally leaves the studio when Norman disappears as well, not even bothering to put in a two week notice or anything. He just calls Joey, let’s him know he quit, and goes looking for work elsewhere.

I came up with names for the two parts of that Sammy based ‘Bendy and the Ink Machine’ AU I was talking about earlier!

The Good Side (or better side anyway) is “Bendy Sam AU”. (Original, I know.) The Bad Side is “A Bendy Sam AU”. (Get it? ‘Cause he’s super flexible with his bones crushed and joints dislocated? Yes, I know I’m going to Hell, shut up.)

Outright fanart for two of my favorite Halloween films in this one. Rhonda from ‘Trick R Treat’ performing her magic with Sarah Sanderson from ‘Hocus Pocus’. (Bonus Dr. Facilier from ‘The Princess and the frog’ because ever since that 2015 DisneyLand Halloween show, I ship him with Sarah and refuse to believe these two empowered non-Christian individuals wouldn’t be connected at the hip and doing awesome feats of magic together/ corrupting educating the youths. Give the non-Christians their happy endings too damn it!)

I used colored pencils but was trying to keep it sort of quick and easy so I didn’t bother trying to blend them. Which is seriously annoying me now. If I go back and blend them better, I’ll repost it.

Prompt: Pins and Needles (Goretober 2020)

First prompt of the year. I’m not a fan of the Hell Riser films, but when I saw this prompt I could only think about how useful Pinhead would be for sewing.

Gods dang it, I already managed to come up with a (nother?) Bendy and the Ink Machine AU. How did this happen in like the week I’ve been fighting the Bendy urge?!

ANYWAY. So this AU actually has two different forms, or basically a Good Side and the Bad Side (not ends; I have no fricking clue how these end yet). The main idea was just:

So what if Sammy accidentally got pulled into the Machine/shoved into the Machine while Joey was attempting to create a better Bendy than the Ink Demon? And it spiraled from there. 

The Bad Side of this AU is... kinda where I go off on the Body Horror aspects and ideas so be warned if you’re sensitive to that kind of stuff. And I what I’m discussing first so if you don’t like it, skip to the next paragraph. The Bad Side of this AU Sammy’s base is a creature that sort of looks like the Ink Demon only.... very, very lanky and less melty. This is because since he was being corrupted by the ink within his body already before being pulled into the Machine, his actual human body is still being used as a base for this form and the ink is merely modifying and building off of it. But the human body isn’t supposed to be pulled into and through any kind of machine so when it comes out, most if not all the bones inside the body are going to be broken in multiple parts. Or out right crushed completely. So while the shape is still bipedal and human based, it’s stretched out or concave in spots were it shouldn’t be. This Sammy actually uses a large piece of fabric wrapped around his neck to keep it stable (like a brace but forced to be made out of something just found laying around the studio) which forms this ‘Bendy’s’ ‘bowtie’ in the front. Parts of his spine are wrapped and attempted braces are made along there too. His limbs however he keeps unwrapped as the ink has made it so he can stretch them out long distances or bend and twist them unnaturally to get at things he needs (or people who go snooping around his lair aka the Music Department). He can’t speak; his vocal cords were ruined in the transformation, but he does make some awful noises and wails instead. He does still hide his face behind a mask like normal Sammy, but it’s modified to be like a more 3d mask, in my head it’s like a triangle with the sides and top of it being made out of wood or something similar that creates the cartoon Bendy’s face. The Bad Side of this AU Sammy is in constant pain due to the condition his body is in, and is highly aggressive because of it. I surprisingly actually thought about how this Sammy would fit into gameplay over a more traditional story, so let me try and explain that? He’d still be found in the Music Department because even though he can’t write or play music anymore, that was HIS part of the studio and he still has a sense of familiarity there. He’s not really able to be killed and his reach can be a problem so there would be a puzzle or the boss battle for that level would involve trapping him in something or causing something to collapse onto him. From there, I kinda like the idea that if you choose to go into the infirmary in the music department, there would be pain pills/medicine there and you can give them to Sammy which would calm him down some. From there he’d act as an ally somewhat, like Boris but he can fight alongside you as well. Just don’t expect him to help against the Ink Demon, he bolts as soon as the Ink Demon spawns if he’s with you. Outside of that, this Sammy also most likely would never be able to leave the studio or become human again because at this point the ink is the only thing really holding him together and keeping him alive. If he tried either, chances are very good he’d die instantly.

On the Good Side, however, this Sammy would basically be a more humaniod Ink Demon with less melt, actual eyes because the idea of this thing with glowy Lost One eyes is cool to me, and the mouth that resembles the Ink Demon’s beast form instead of the cartoon sealed grin (too wide with too many sharp teeth). In this side of the AU, Sammy can still speak, and has more memory of what happened to him and what life was like before the Studio collapsed than the other. He’s a bit closer to the canon Sammy and still sort of becomes a Prophet like figure. However, this Sammy spent the last thirty years being the Ink Demon’s punching bag so he actually doesn’t believe in what he’s preaching, but the ink was telling himself something when it was infecting and corrupting his body and even though he doesn’t believe in the Ink Demon, he has to believe someone’s coming to set them free, right? The Ink Demon also is the only thing in the Studio that seems to be all powerful and the main thing the Lost Ones understand as a ‘savior’ or ‘god’ so... Sammy works with what he’s given, even if he knows he’s a hypocrite and false prophet for it. He’s also still likely to whack you over the head with a dustpan and tie you up, but that’s less for sacrifice and more ��who are you why are you in my house?’ (He might still let the Ink Demon have you if he thinks you’re a threat or you sass him too much.) He’s wary and doesn’t trust easily given what happened before his transformation, but he’s a bit more reasonable if you can convince him you aren’t a threat. I think I also decided he still writes music, even having a wall in the music department he writes music on only to later clean it off and start over when he gets a new idea. And yes, this Sammy can still play the banjo. 

I still don’t have any ideas for a name for this two sided AU but that’s the general backbones so far.

Okay but consider

Bendy and The Ink Machine AU were Norman still becomes the Projectionist but he still has all of his human memories and is trying to get out of/survive the studio. And his survival partner is Wally Franks-

...Who’s new form is just a possessed tape recorder.

Also they balance out their shortcomings by Norman carrying around Wally on like a utility belt made from stuff found around the studio, and Norman regains auditory input by putting a cable into like the Aux/headphone plug which also returns Wally’s visual input as well.

Okay, confession time!

I sort of have a love/hate relationship with ‘The Dark Crystal’ and the comics that go along with it. I appreciate the artistry of the original movie, and a few ideas that are presented in the source material, but find the source material pretty... Predictable, bland, clique, and also just repeating itself. So when I originally got into it, I created these OCs and their stories in my head to try and fix the problems I had with it. Eventually I liked the characters themselves more than the source material, and completely redid them for one of my original stories and tried to move past ‘The Dark Crystal’.
