The Hill We Climb ..
When day comes we ask ourselves,
Where can we find light in this never-ending shade?
The loss we carry,
a sea we must wade
We braved the belly of the beast
We’ve learned that quiet isn’t always peace
And the norms and notions
of what just is
Isn’t always just-ice.
And yet the dawn is ours
before we knew it
Somehow we do it
Somehow we weathered and witnessed
a nation that isn’t broken
but simply unfinished
In this faith we trust
A country that is bruised but whole,
benevolent but bold,
fierce and free.

A child hurries to play among the near empty forest of cherry blossoms at the tidal basin in Washington DC. Millions of visitors usually congregate among the much venerated trees but this year is an exception. The C-19 virus which began in China a few months before has shut down the festivities and park. Along with the obvious calamity and painful seclusion many experience, there are silver linings of hope everywhere. The negative always comes with the positive, it’s natures way. This will end, but will humanity wake up from the perilous path it’s on? Or will the cycle of bust and boom continue?
