Official hiatus

//My gosh, guys, I’m so sorry for disappearing without a word. I’m bloody busy with school, making plans for next year (I finish high school in several months so you can imagine the stress), my other fandoms, and studying The Aeneid which has drained my energy for writing anything related to the classical period. I’m not deleting, but I will be going on official hiatus, probably until at least the end of the school year around December. When I’m ready I’ll pick up any threads that people might be interested in continuing and plotting new ideas. Until then, ciao!

Berenice echoed her sister’s sigh. “You’re right,” she admitted. “Why do you always have to be right?”

Her hands closed into fists, and she had to take deep breaths to stop herself from lashing out at an innocent piece of furniture. Being a Ptolemy had paved some of her way, but the rest she’d had to do herself. Her privilege came from her money, but her renown had come from the effort she’d made to make herself something more.

“You know I tried to divorce myself from this family? Took my money and ran. Look where that got me.”

Berenice nodded. At first it seemed that her sister was doing the opposite of what she’d advised Berenice, but the claims about the latter were real and she wanted to justify them, whereas her sister was getting bad press about something that wasn’t even true.

“It just gets to me, how they have their preconceived ideas about us!” she burst out, trying not to clench her fists. “They’re prejudiced, and it’s all wrong. They don’t truly know us.” Which was why she’d dropped their surname, hoping to disconnect herself from the family. Only now she was back where she’d started, getting angry over the media’s, and the public’s, opinion of them.

“Really? Your mama is wrong about something? Interesting.” Berenice pondered that for a moment. “Just what has she told you about me?”

“Rubbing it in that you inherited your father’s tall genes, are we? I’ll have you know that I am perfectly capable of reaching my own jewellery boxes, no matter how high up they are.”
