God, i don’t want to be stagnant. in this same place next year. introduce me to me. help me to see myself the way that you see me. do whatever you need to do in my life that guides me closer to you. and my destiny. heal my heart so my triggers become my testimonies. add or remove whoever or whatever you need to help me grow spiritually. develop in me the character to not just reach the places we talk about but the character to stay in those places.

New Year's resolutions
2022 is nearing quickly which means that a lot of people will be making New Year's resolutions soon.
As this blog is focused on things like changing habits and learning new skills, I realise some of you may have found inspiration for your 2022 goals here (for which I'm flattered, by the way!). Because of this, I wanted to talk a little about resolutions.
Societal pressure:
The past few years have been really tough for most of us. We've got a pandemic on our hands, lived through lockdowns, political changes with global repercussions, climate disasters, injustice, greed,... And that's just the large scale of things. Maybe you've lost someone dear to you, have struggled with your health, lost your job or home, were injured during a protest, etc.
Why am I pointing these things out? Because in our current society, we're constantly pushed to better ourselves and to achieve great and preferably monetised things. This pressure can be difficult to deal with in itself, but this push became even stronger during COVID. I don't know about you all, but I've been bombarded with messages about using lockdown time as an opportunity to write a novel or start an online business the past two years, for example.
Setting goals:
Learning new things is awesome! If you want to set a goal for yourself to learn a new skill in 2022 and you're able to do this in a healthy and enjoyable way, go for it!
But if you can't, please don't feel bad about it. Take it easy. These are difficult times, and we'll likely carry their scars with us for many years to come. Taking care of yourself and getting through 2022 is a noble goal in itself. Don't let people tell you otherwise.
If your New Year's resolution for 2022 is "survive", that's great. You're doing the best you can, and I think it's important someone acknowledged that.

“In your life, you will always be growing. Learning. Developing. It’s just a matter of transitioning from one growth cycle to the next. Be prepared for these changes, but also don’t be afraid to get excited. Feel as your own personal development takes place.”

“With every chance that you get, tell yourself something beautiful. Something genuine. Something that reminds you of how special you are to this universe. Whether it be a compliment, a smile, or words of encouragement; take the time to give it to yourself. You deserve it.”

Do what makes you happy. Take care of yourself. Be carefree. We’re not going to live forever, and when you really think about it, it’s really not that long in the grand scheme of things. So live gracefully. Stop chasing towards material things and being someone that you’re not. Life is far too short to be anyone but yourself and to be doing anything that you’re not completely in love with.
