See no evil   |   Speak No Evil   |   hear no Evil ....but dress up like a princess.... Education, parenting, even friends often talk AT you. They hope to teach you, out of love, out of care. But they often fail to seek to communicate with you. Somewhere hiding behind the desire to help hides all those other parts of an individual that make them unprepared to have a conversation. And there is fear. This is different than having a discussion. Having a conversation. These are true forms of communication. And when you talk WITH someone, it is an opportunity for education as well as learning. On both sides. Because you might find that the things you hope to "educate" somebody on are things they know something about. Maybe more than you. They might be going through it. Are you part of the discussion? Or just trying to educate...

Yeah, I'm going to bring this discussion on Tumblr. Don't be involved in it if it offends you. I've heard the word often. What does the word mean to you? One thing I truly believe is that any time someone tries to label others, they find themselves wrong. People tend to see things not as they are, but quite simply as they see things. For my part, I'll label anyone who labels others as the kind of person who does no more than tell people more about who they are themselves. The things we say and the things we do are a reflection of who we are. So....wannarexics. Who wants to discuss the topic through a MAJOR reblog on Tumblr. I imagine to see some ugly stuff here. Try to respect each other, and remember, the things you say only reflect who you are, and no one else...

Advice?
"I keep eating. I went one week strong and now as much as I try and I tell myself not to eat I can't help it. It's killing me. I need a help to keep strong. I don't know what else to do. I want to loose this weight but I'm so weak that I have to eat. And it's making me hate myself more. Please help?"
How would you respond?
One response: Eating is more than just a necessity; it's also a habit. No habit can be made or broken in a week. Staying constant with something through the difficult times is what helps us develop new habits as we shed the old. The important thing is to develop habits that you can maintain for the long term - find habits that provide you a balance. To do this, don't set your goals for a week, or for this spring or summer season. Think about the person that you want to be a year from now, or two years from now, and develop healthy, sustainable, and enjoyable habits based on those goals. Nothing happens over night; and what you want is not something that will only last a week. So don't push your body and it won't push back - develop healthy habits for the long term.

Are you pro-ana?
If you define pro-ana as being pro (for or in support of) anorexia, then the simple answer is NO. I don't know if anyone who truly understands the nature of "disorders" can say they are pro-anorexia. Eating disorders kill people, and even if they do not kill the individual, they cause a life-time of struggle and pain. I run an eating disorder community so that those who find themselves struggling with the issues of an eating disorder can interact with others who understand, in hopes that open discussion will lead to self-reflection, and hopefully a personal and individual desire to find balance, fulfillment, and happiness. As such, I call PrettyThin pro-ana in that it is pro (in support of) anorectic (a person suffering with anorexia).PrettyThin seeks to support the individual. {please also understand that these terms are pop-generalizations. PT is for all EDs and not ana alone}
