the library was, in many ways, a place of security for bella — somewhere to retreat when it was time to shut out the rest of the world and find a quiet spot to recharge her social battery. what an irony it was that she’d be seeking out the company of another in this sacred place, much less from someone that she’d hardly spoken more than a couple of words to throughout her stay in copper springs, but desperate times called for desperate measures and these circumstances couldn’t be described as anything else but urgent. 

she’d be lying if she said it was relief that flooded through her as she caught sight of edward masen as she rounded past the the last few rows of shelves towards the back of the room. instead, it was pure, unadulterated anxiety, not so much over embarrassing herself than it was over eliciting a less-than-pleasant reaction to the news that she’d been holding onto for days now. the temptation to turn right back around was tempting, but instead she merely swallowed her doubts and pushed on towards him with arms crossed tightly across her chest. “  edward  ?  “ she hesitated, biting back a wince as the unintentionally familiar tone that she’d spoken his name in reached her ears. “  i’m sorry if i’m interrupting, but i really need to chat with you  —  if you have the time, of course.  “

( chance perdomo, 20 ) 𝙲𝙾𝙿𝙿𝙴𝚁 𝚂𝙿𝚁𝙸𝙽𝙶𝚂, 𝙸𝙽. 𝙿𝙾𝙿𝚄𝙻𝙰𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽, +𝟷. / MILES MORALES has landed in copper springs, far separated from the life they knew in MARVEL. armed with their INVENTIVE, RESILIENT, BOISTEROUS, & UNPRINCIPLED nature and seeing flashes of their former life, it’s worth noting that HE currently has ALL of their memories to guide them. in the meantime, they’re working in town as a UNIVERSITY STUDENT. they better bundle up for what’s ahead.

triggers ahead: mentions of parental death

𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐭

you never asked to be a hero. frankly, you’re not even sure that you’d be the type of hero that people would want — after all, who would trust a teenager who can barely manage to get himself to school in one piece with the security of new york city from rampant crime? you certainly wouldn’t, and it’s really no surprise why you weren’t exactly jazzed by the revelation that a stray spider bite had somehow given you superhuman abilities.

regardless of whether or not you asked for it, you’ll eventually find that you don’t have a choice. new york needs you, a new iteration of an already familiar hero, and even your own self-doubt is no match for your reluctant sense of duty. maybe it’s some sort of righteous sense of duty — a sort of ‘passing of the torch’ after your father’s untimely death — but it’s hard to justify not stepping in when it comes to the safety of your own community.

it’s not as easy as it sounds, powers aside. secrets have never been your specialty, and now you’ve got a whole other persona to protect. that’s not even mentioning the fact that you’ve got another spider-man’s legacy to live up to — and frankly, you’re not quite sure if you’re up to the job. 

but even if you’re not, you’ll be damned if you aren’t going to try your hardest, anyways.

this version of miles is an amalgamation of several different iterations of his character, but his background is mainly based on that of the spiderman: miles morales game version with a couple of pieces borrowed from the comics. see here for more information on this version: ( x ) 

𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭

copper springs is no new york, and the adjustment to small town living has been a culture shock, to say the least. you’ve somehow managed to land here without any of the abilities that you’ve reluctantly used for years. 

frankly, you’d be lying if you said it wasn’t at least a small relief.

things could be worse. you could be one of those people left with little to no recollection of the life they’d lived prior to arriving in this town, but instead, you’ve lucked out and somehow remembered everything about the world you came from. it’s like the best of both worlds — all of the memories and none of the pressures of being spiderman , a chance to live as a normal student without all of the chaos of living a double life. if it weren’t for the famlly that you left behind, you’d be more than happy to stay here forever.

this can’t last forever. surely there’s some sort of catch, and when it comes, you’ll be prepared for it. until then, however, you’re happy to coast by and enjoy the simplicity of it all before duty calls once more.

𝙿𝙾𝙿𝚄𝙻𝙰𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽, +𝟷. / BELLA SWAN has landed in copper springs, far separated from the life they knew in TWILIGHT. armed with their OBSERVANT, DILIGENT, IMPULSIVE, & OBSTINATE nature and seeing flashes of their former life, it’s worth noting that SHE currently has SOME of their memories to guide them. in the meantime, they’re working in town as an ENGLISH TEACHER. they better bundle up for what’s ahead.

triggers ahead: neglectful parenting & vampirism

𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐭

you’ve spent the majority of your young life as a caretaker — as someone who has been forced to grow up too fast in order to keep your household afloat. keeping up with your mother and her flights of fancy is practically a full-time job, and it’s a surprise to absolutely nobody that you’d eventually choose to leave her home to spend some quality time with your stable, reliable father, but even that is a choice of self-sacrifice more than it is one for your own benefit. 

you expect the move to forks, washington to be uneventful at best, but fate quickly proves to have other plans. instead, it sends you into a direct collision path with edward cullen, an enigma of a classmate whose unusual qualities quickly catch your curiosity. still, no amount of speculation could prepare you for the realization that he is far from human.

instead of running for the hills like any sane person would, you stay. you connect with him, and that relationship would be the cause of more trouble than you’d initially bargained for. nomadic tracker vampires, the volturi, cliff diving gone wrong - the near death experiences you face are seemingly never-ending, and yet you somehow find a way to justify every single one of them if it means a chance at forever — quite literally — with him. 

love makes people do crazy things, after all, and you are no exception to that rule.

𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭

things are simple around copper springs — just how you like it. you live in a cozy apartment in town, working at the local high school teaching english and entertaining a small, but close-knit group of friends in whatever free time you can find — not glamorous by any means, but you’ve never been one to shy away from simplicity, are you ? 

it’s a charmed life that you lead, and if it weren’t for the onslaught of new, unfamiliar memories that have been coming to you in bits and pieces over the past months, you’d be happy to live it in peace. unfortunately, you no longer have the option of living in ignorance, and considering that you’re... well, you, ignoring them is simply not an option.

it won’t be the first time your curiosity has gotten you into trouble, nor will it be the last, but one fact is certain — you’re determined to get to the bottom of what these memories mean and exactly what’s lurking behind the cheery facade of copper springs, no matter the risk.
