❝If that is your decision, be sure of it.❞ Turning, the blonde faces the brunette now, her azure hues sharpening a little as she delivers the line in response to the evident tone of regret in the other's voice. Perhaps it sounded as if she were scolding the other soldier, perhaps not. She didn't care-- In fact, it's surprising that she still stood here, conversing with the other female. Since when did she care for offering her supposed comrades advice? Yet, the female in front of her wasn't entirely like the other soldiers, they had some semblance of an acquaintanceship, and she wasn't nearly as pitiful as the others. ❝At this point you're going to end up second-guessing yourself and your future decisions. And indecision leads to mistakes.❞
❝... Humanity? You're fighting for humanity?❞ Though her crystal blue orbs had lost the sharp edge they had gained only moments ago, there now lingered a hint of dubiety within them, in addition to the most subtle tone of skepticism in her voice. No wonder she's unsure of her choice, with a volatile reason like that. Humanity is fickle, if anything. Memories played over in the blonde's mind; of men beating down the sick and the elderly, kicking a young boy for a mere loaf of bread-- That is what humans are, it's in their nature. That is what she chooses to fight for? After having remained silent for a prolonged moment, the petite female suggests another proposition from behind her lidded, disinterested gaze. ❝What about your family? Do you fight so they don't have to? It's a common motive, but the frequency of it doesn't make it any less justifiable.❞
❝In fact,❞ the wind made a low whistling sound as it careened around the corners of the buildings surrounding them, coaxing her fringe to shroud most of her face. ❝... In this world, family is the most, if not the only, genuine motivation.❞
ɧoɱεsɩcƙ
❝❝❝ { ✿ } —- A sigh of discontent was released at the given response, digits working their way upwards to rub at the bridge of her nose. Emotions warred within, making the young woman uneasy about everything regarding her current predicament. Every decision to make, each pro and con that came along with it. Was there really a point in staying? So many people fell victim to the titans and would continue to fall, more enemies kept stomping their way towards the wall in search of their next meal, what were the chances?
Aside from all of terror Sasha felt, what of her family? Her father? Was he okay? Being so far away from home was beginning to take a toll on the female soldier. Had it been a wise idea to run away, only to join the Scouting Legion? It had appeared to be at the moment Sasha took her leave. but what about now? So many years later, Sasha found herself questioning choices her younger self had made.
Cranium tipping back, coming to rest upon the brick wall, a tired breath was emitted. I did not come all of this way just to call it quits and go home but… Not bothering to disguise the tone of regret, the brunette awarded her companion with a response. “I will stay, continue to fight for humanity. It was the reason for my leaving home in the first place, it would be weak to give up and leave right now.”

Complimentary pleasantries. In what instance would it be an honor for the Commander to meet her? At least with the little knowledge he likely had of her, she was no exemplary stand-out. Though, she knew that many other trainees would have sacrificed three nights of dinner to be granted the opportunity for him to say that to them. However, for her, it didn't even spark a single hint of excitement in her dull, blue eyes.
❝And you too, Commander,❞ she returns, still with no change of expression-- which made it hard to decipher whether she was being genuinely respectful or genuinely bored. Unlike other inquiries she'd had to address, this time, beneath her uninterested facade-- there is still disinterest, yes, but there is also a careful observation being made. An observation on Erwin Smith. While he has likely read a file on her, she's now making a file on him within her mind. Every word he says, every action he now takes in their conversation will be documented and kept in mind. There is one small benefit to this meeting.
Of course, it is her fighting technique that caught his attention. It seems obvious now, it's a wonder she didn't pin it as the reason earlier. None of the other trainees seem to have their own efficient, perfected technique in their sparring matches, so it makes her stand out. ❝No,❞ she answers in a monotone. ❝My father taught me how to fight.❞ Up until now, it's noticeable that her eyes are not staring directly into those of the man standing in front of her, but rather resting anywhere but on him. ❝Do you disapprove of it?❞
「♚」;; There’s puzzlement visible in icy eyes, to no surprise. Everyone knew he was observing, but what were the chances of him stepping up and interacting with any of them? He’s done it before to previous trainee squads. It’s his first time stepping out of his office to get to know them personally. Even if they don’t join the Corps, it’s alright. They were still soldiers.
Short-lived, warm smile fills over expression. ❝An honor to meet you, Leonhardt.❞ The conversation might only last five minutes, it might last longer than that. He’s okay with whichever one. He’ll make sure to communicate with some of the other trainees at a later time. Already, he feels curious gazes shot his way, hushed whispers loud in his ears. In his position, he has to be observant. Still, he doesn’t point any of that out. It’d just embarrass the teenagers.
At question, brows raise in brief thought. Admittedly, he’s rather relieved she’s able to keep her composure. Several others would have turned into a stuttering mess by now. She’s seen the cruelty of this world, it’s evident in her gaze. ❝There is. Your fighting style caught my attention. Is it self-taught, by any chance?❞ A casual question bloomed by his own personal interest. It’s often he observes the fighting style of the trainees, though most throw blows out blindly, which isn’t the wisest action to do. Strategy is as important as strength and speed in fighting, after all.
