Thanks to God, then thanks to these supporters, and the effort of my friends here on Tumblr who participate in my campaign on a daily basis, a small apartment was rented for the elderly and children in my family during the winter.

I contemplate the details of your humanity, it comforts me, reduces the severity and ugliness of this war. You remind me that mercy was planted in our hearts despite all the cruelty around us!

Our next goal is to provide only the necessary apartment supplies that will protect my family from the danger of cold and rain, which is providing nylon for the windows, purchasing an external door for the apartment, and installing a bathroom.

The apartment has no windows or doors as a result of the bombing, and this is the case for all apartments in the Gaza Strip.

Winter in Gaza was a season that brought warmth and nostalgia. The sounds of rain falling on the windows bring a feeling of comfort and tranquility to the hearts of Gazans, as family members gather around a cup of hot sahlab, a dish associated with long winter nights. Wrapping up in heavy blankets and having family dinner sessions were some of the most beautiful moments of winter that made everyone feel safe in their homes.

However, these feelings do not return with the arrival of winter today. Winter, which was a symbol of family warmth, has now become a terrifying season. The tents, which barely withstand light winds, cannot cope with heavy rains. Any storm may lead to the tent sinking, exposing its people to extreme cold and water gathering around them.

This difficult reality in the tent poses a danger to the elderly and children in my family, and they are begging you to move out of the tent and rent a small apartment for the winter period only.

By reaching the ninth goal of 90k, my family will be able to rent an apartment for six months, that is, in the winter.

I don’t know how to communicate to you all that Mahmoud Abu Hamam (@ma7moudgaza2) needs your continued attention. He has recently been a victim of fraud, which caused his bank to freeze his account. Now, he is barely getting any help at all. 

Mahmoud currently has no access to the 11k he has painstakingly raised after MONTHS of campaigning. This is heartbreaking- all the compromises he had to make to get there; he gave up hopes of evacuating and then again of rebuilding, because nothing was coming in! Now, after a whole year of genocide, Mahmoud is still struggling to get donations. So please help him, now that he is campaigning only to collect survival funds. He needs the money to procure warm clothes and blankets for 20 family members, 10 of whom are children. Gazan winters are terrible and living in a tent with no blankets or warm clothes is a death sentence.
