"I continue to receive very serious and painful news from Gaza. Unarmed civilians are subjected to bombings and shootings. It is terrorism."

Imagine being JD Vance, who makes such a huge part of his personality being catholic. The pope himself takes time to lecture you on compassion then promptly DIES. The pope uses one of his last hours on earth to tell you that you suck at your religion on EASTER. And then DIES. Anyway RIP Pope Francis

I will miss Pope Francis so much. He is one of the reasons I still choose to identify as Catholic despite everything I’ve seen and heard that would make me do otherwise.

I fear for the world he’s left behind.

I’ve lost so much faith in the Church—not in God but the Church—and the world. Having a progressive, inclusive Pope to keep bigots and traditionalists up at night was so important to me.

IDK if we, as laypeople, have an effect on who follows after him. Perhaps it’s already been decided in some back alley deal. But if you pray, pray that we don’t spit on Francis’ legacy so soon.

The death of a conspicuously humble and compassionate pope at dawn of Easter Monday, after completing his Holy Week duties (prioritizing prisoners and children) and -- one can only presume -- rebuking a member of the church who has been making himself loathed and infamous by violating or ignoring the teachings of the gospels...

It's not the first time in the last few years that I've thought "medieval chroniclers would be going wild over this," but medieval chroniclers would really be going wild over this.
