MY FIYERO DESIGN... hes described with ochre skin and blue diamond markings in the book so yk! the markings are inspired by indigenous markings like wituk dye amongst others

also, you'll notice, he is very girl. its on purpose c: hes v fluid to me in terms of gender and sexuality

AND ALSO. MY CROPE AND TIBBETT.. i hope u love them... ik tibbett has "blond bangs" but. blond tibbett just doesnt make sense to me..... hes a brunette. so i gave him highlights cuz hes gay LOL

It ties in with the fact Fiyero is a foil to Elphaba and Glinda simultaneously, and also is something of a narrative example for the girls within the musical plot. The whole observation about how Fiyero is the Elphaba who stayed with Glinda, who eventually cannot take living in compliance with a fascist dictatorship and eventually goes rogue, only to become the Glinda who left with Elphaba, who quickly becomes a liability and a casualty of conflict. And it is his being dragged off to be executed that serves as the wakeup call for Glinda to try to save Elphaba. but as you said, it's still a little too late for any of them.

the way glinda and fiyero have the same exact arc but it's just staggered because fiyero is the love interest so his kicks off in act i and early act ii but glinda's doesn't start until later on in act ii (until she loses fiyero as a love interest) and this both dooms and saves her from fiyero and elphaba's doom but it's still too little too late for glinda

I know I've said it before on this blog at some point, but the thing that always gets me is that the canon script has Fiyero actively try to convince Glinda to run away with him to find Elphaba, and then less than a minute later has her tell him this attempt at consoling 'No one has searched harder for [Elphaba] than you'. And it shows that they knew???? How much Elphaba meant to each other????

This was clearly something they discussed and didn't actually have problems over, it was their ideas of next steps that was in conflict. So it's canon!! ITS FREAKING CANON!!! That they spent those intermission years commiserating over the absence of Elphaba in their life. Glinda pulling the surprise engagement party was admittedly nasty on her part but I think it says a lot that Fiyero decides that for all his frustration he's willing to accept it. They had each other for far longer than they had Elphaba, and imagining all the ways those years could have played out is so interesting.

Especially since to the very end, no matter what anyone else says, they truly cared about each other. They saw each other at their most cracked and flawed, and yet those years did not breed hatred. Frustration and resentment maybe, but not hatred. Despite everything somehow, they are still trying hard to appeal to each other. And it never leaves my mind that the last time Glinda and Fiyero share the stage, Fiyero is apologizing to Glinda, while she begs in vain to try to save his life. THEY ARE SO FASCINATING. WHAT DID THEY SEE OF EACH OTHER THAT NO ONE ELSE, NOT EVEN ELPHABA SAW.

I love doing a full 180 as a gelphie shipper and a "well duh" fan of fiyeraba all the way into gliyero territory bc yes they seem to be the least compelling pairing which makes them the MOST compelling To Me. yk. once you project them against each other and make them confront how their romance might have been constructed as an illusion but if you tear it down and recognize how alike they are then maybe there is real love there somewhere

obsessed with how gregory maguire saw glinda the good witch and the wicked witch of the west, two of the campiest characters known to man, interact for a couple seconds in the wizard of oz movie and immediately thought ‘this would make a perfect enemies to lovers college au’

I actually do think it’s hilarious how hard I polarized myself into being wayyyyy more crazy about Gliyero than anticipated because it is precisely the fact they bond over pining for Elphaba (and you know. Surviving being stuck in a political hostage situation) that I find so compelling and it makes me nuts more people don’t talk about it.

A silly thought I had about my semi-immortal post show Fiyero au :3

Here are the facts of the matter. Glinda Upland and Elphaba Thropp- for all that they are powerful witches, symbols of terror and goodness made immortal by their legacies, for all that they are named after saints, for all that they have survived longer than they ever thought they would- they are mortal. And Fiyero Tigelaar is not. Not fully, not anymore. And so Glinda and Elphaba die, and they die without him. Glinda first, and then only days later, Elphaba. It makes sense, Fiyero thinks, they spent their whole lives apart from each other, of course they couldn’t bear to be apart in the afterlife too.

Elphaba died quietly on a sunny morning in June, dozing in his arms. He had watched her as she slept, her hair had gone completely white years ago and he had smoothed it back, pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. And then she was gone, the quiet hiss of her breathing suddenly silent in the still morning air.

And suddenly Fiyero Tigelaar was completely alone in the world.

On the day of her death Elphaba had been 88, and Fiyero only a year younger than her, but you wouldn’t be able to tell, he looked scarcely a day older than 40 and gray had just begun to thread through his hair.

See my favorite thing is the movie itself took this approach to building out the world even though it’s largely faithful to the musical.

What do you mean that in movie!Wicked the Wizard’s name is Oscar Diggs like the original L Frank Baum books, and Fiyero’s parents names are the same as his Wicked Years book counterpart?

This effectively gives everyone permission to do whatever they want with mix and mashing universes.

I love that we, Wicked, as a fandom, cannot stay in one universe for our damned lives.

It's Musicalverse, but Fiyero has his tattoos. Bookverse, but Glinda has brown eyes. Musicalverse but Frottica is mentioned because of worldbuilding. Bookverse but Elphaba lives. Musicalverse but Elphaba is still allergic to water.

Then you have the crazies (which I can't throw shade on considering I do it myself) who just turn it into plot mash and use multiple aspects from everything- including the original Wizard of Oz.

We will have our own multiverse before we know it, I swear.

Good morning. I’m Julia Murney posting again because I can’t stop watching her performances.

No one does No Good Deed like Julia Murney, I am so serious. From start to finish she sells Elphaba’s manic breakdown 1000%. She acts with her entire body; she’s hand flapping, pacing, twitching, shaking, screaming! This woman is spiraling completely out of control and fueled by grief and rage. I feel like recent trends are for favoring Elphaba’s with mind blowing vocals, but there are so many great singing Elphaba’s, I want more Elphaba’s who can make me believe this character is truly losing her mind while putting on a show.
