My absolute favorite official Cyberpunk 2077 art from CDPR is this piece by Łukasz Poller

Not just for the old school Edward Hopper style and Syd Mead vibes that's used, but just because there's something very simple and easy about it. I feel like the plot moves so fast that it never seems like V can catch a break within the story. But in this piece, they're just chilling, shooting the shit, like it's a lazy day in. The air looks still, the conversation seems lazy. V's not even dressed.

I can't even explain it. Guess there's just something comforting about the world as you know it crumbling around you and still being able to find a moment to breathe during it.

silverv is so Ship of All Time. no one’s ever been in love like us. wish that things were different but it never could have happened any other way. no one’s ever known another person like us. can’t live with you but how will i go on without you. don’t make me say it but we both know it’s true.

johnny silverhand. johnny silverhand and his relationship with v. johnny silverhand and the fact that v is the catalyst for his growth as a character. v makes johnny better.

i haven't talked about johnny or silverv at length yet and this isn't going to be that post but their relationship is something i turn over in my hands like a rubix cube with regular frequency. it's so multifaceted.

thinking about the fact that johnny wakes up in a world that moved on without him. he realises his efforts amounted to nothing. that line, that only the diehards know johnny silverhand's name- he faded into obscurity. he's a direct foil to v's character and their thirst for fame. for the want to be known and recognised. johnny is its consequences.

thinking of johnny realising the other shoe has dropped. he cares about v. cares about them beyond a means to an end. that he's too little, too late, again, but he's trying, trying to be better, to get help. to keep v from dying because he thinks of himself as a cancer.

thinking of others reacting to the fact v trusts johnny. the way the narrative enforces the sense that, at that point in time, no character knows johnny like v does. even rogue. rogue accuses johnny of manipulating v, says he must've had his claws in deep and doesn't believe anyone could ever think johnny worthy enough of a second chance because deep down, she doesn't think so either. nobody will accept that johnny might have changed.

except v. v, who pushes johnny to be better, more understanding and empathetic, through actions johnny wouldn't have committed himself. johnny watches what it's like to be a good person through the eyes of someone he, arguably, grows to love, and attempts to mimic it.

johnny lives in memory of v, in the temperance ending. he wears their face. he doesn't want to forget them. he reads literature about the preservation of the soul and immortality and he hopes that somehow when he talks to himself v can hear him. that in the back of his mind v is there, a role reversal he never grows comfortable with. he doesn't know how v stood it.

silverv makes for such a tragic love story im surprised it didn't blow up with the gays. like can you imagine, can you imagine coming back from the dead after 50 years to find yourself stuck in the body of somebody who is dying because of you. you're trying to help them figure out how to get rid of you before it's too late and along that path you get to know each other so intimately from sharing memories and a body. and it's not really your fault but you are an intruder here, you are a parasite actively killing them but they're nice to you and care about you anyway. and you care about them. but you know that inevitably you will either take over their body or be removed. you can't both be alive at the same time for long. can you imagine realizing that you're falling in love with them

There's two kinds of SilverV fics.

1: God, I wish you were real. I want to touch you. I want to just feel your hand in mine. Why the fuck aren't you real? Our love was doomed from the start, but I just can't stop myself.

And

2: Only I can touch you. You're real to me. This moment can't last forever, but I'll still always remember it. Touching you is bittersweet because I know someday I'll wake up and you'll be gone. Our love was doomed from the start, but I just can't stop myself.

This, of course, doesn't take into account au's where Johnny gets a body. But my point still stands. Oh and I love both types. They're always amazing.

i love it when characters are codependent. i love it when losing someone feels like losing a limb. i love it when two people "complete" each other so wholly and terribly that one can barely function without the other. i love it when the fear of losing the only person who understands them is so all-consuming they'll destroy anything to stay together, including themselves.
