We accidentally learned about this march of all the Orthodox priests and religious people from Kazan Cathedral about 5 km down a closed Nevsky Prospect (large avenue) to the largest monastery, an annual event honoring ALEXANDER Nevsky, who saved the russians from the Swedes in the 13th century, 3 years after the Mongol invasion. He was 19... and cannonized in the 1500s for many good deeds. Neva River is one of the many reminders. The event was amazing. We walked all the way and watched much of the service with the crowds.

Our final stop before boarding the Trans Siberian Railroad for Moscow was Stolby Nature Reserve, a very large reserve that is part of the City of Krasnoyarsk, along a tributary of the Yenisei River. In two parts “straight” Stolby is very close to the city with huge rock formations and a long history of climbing and small outdoor groups who care for 14 historical huts in the reserve. Called Stolbyists, these groups co manage this area. Wild Stolby is strictly protected for abundant wildlife. We missed the superintendent unfortunately... lots more to see, but need to catch the train and move eastward.

Some images from the world famous Abakan museum collection of stones.
Our colleagues took us to a beautiful guest house run by a family of former foresters. We ate in a tree house, enjoying fish soup, salad, an a roasted meat patty. Later one brilliant hot showed us her gardens and shared delicious homemade vodka.
