Side Order Typeface: Complete!

HEY. do you remember when Nintendo made a typeface for Splatoon 3's Side Order and never elaborated? It looks a little bit like this:

Well I went over to the lovely @splatoongamefiles and asked for the font file. They gave me the file, all nice and simple, BUT it was completely unfinished... I really liked it, so I finished it myself!!!

This is what it looked like when I started:

It took me 6 months because I apparently started working on this in february, but it only took that long because of my laziness! I did, however, know nothing about this kind of thing before except for my vague interest in typography and fonts. I used a free font-making software called FontForge and I had to learn it from scratch and with no help. So I think all in all, it turned out pretty good!!

I also decided to name the typeface since when I downloaded it, it was called something silly and just for the files so I named it Spire after the Spire of Order which I think works very nicely!!

Now I'll talk about what's changed because I did upload beta version 0.2 of this recently!

added uppercases A, D, G, H, I, K, M, V, W, X

added symbols " # $ % & ' ( ) * + - / < = > [ ] ^ _ ` { | } ¡ £ ¿ × ÷

added all the accents you can see above, but not ALL of them because im lazy

fixed lowercase k so now it looks like a normal letter

B - adjusted sizes of the upper and lower sections as well as sharpened corners of the lower section

K - slightly lowered the crossbar

L - curves of the corners are now slightly smoother

z - raised the top right corner by 1 pixel so its no longer 1 pixel wonky...

@ - increased the gap on the left side

deleted all the original file's kerning and did it myself >:)

Only Boo: The Movie idea…

It’s been three days and I can’t take this drought anymore so I started watching the series again but I had this big bright idea that just popped out from my head.

I was thinking… would it be possible to condense or fit all 12 episodes of Only Boo within a 2 hour and 30 minute film? This way, I can watch the whole series easily and it wouldn’t be time consuming.

The answer might be yes but there are a lot of things needed to be considered like scenes that addresses or adds details to the plot, sound effects, background music, etc. I don’t want to waste any potential scenes or elements that can ruin the whole story.

If you guys have any advice or suggestions as to how to create this project, please let me know! I’m very open to any suggestions and ideas.

My favorite thing about Only Boo above all else is that from the second Moo and Kang lay eyes on each other, there is an immediate interest. And I don't even mean in a romantic sense. They just immediately seem intrigued by each other. This little manic pixie dream boy on meth floats into the den of the kindest softest boy in the world, and the world literally stops for them. It's a very easily missable thing, and not something even really acknowledged, but they can't help but want to spend all their time together and that to me is the most romantic thing the show does. When Moo isn't focused on his dancing, he's following Kang around like a puppy. When Kang is alone, he's constantly wondering of Moo is okay, if he's safe, if he's eaten. And they actually act like friends, which is what makes them as an eventual couple work so well. They support each other and communicate and laugh together and flirt and it's all joy with them. All love in every sense of the word. They are always cradling each other in their hands and amidst a sea of BL couples that seem to barely even like each other, it's wonderful to see two characters who are clearly obsessed with each other in the sweetest way.

These stupid bitches can't keep their hands to themselves and it makes me fucking crazy.

I HAD THE BEST TIME WATCHING EPISODE 11 OF ONLY BOO.

In a way that it got me feeling sad, speculating, and hopeful all at the same time. The way they put this episode together is just magnificent and it really shows how the characters have been through for a year.

That montage when Moo played the piano!!!! OH MY LORD WHY DID THEY HAVE TO DO THAT.

THE KAI PALO SITTING IN THE FREEZER FOR A YEAR AND MOO HUGGING IT WHENEVER HE FEELS ALONE HAS GOTTA BE ONE OF THE MOST HEARTBREAKING SCENES EVER.

When Moo thought Shone is dating Kang and Potae thought Payos and Jang are actually getting to the dating stage OH YES GIVE ME DRAMA PLEASE RACHELLL

And let’s talk about the preview because BITCH THE BLANK LETTERS THAT HAVE BEEN SENT FOR OVER A YEAR?????? OH DON’T GET ME STARTEDDDDDDDD

I can’t believe this series is ending. I’m getting teared up as I type this. It might look I’m over exaggerating but no, I just had the best time.
