personally I also despise tavris, and that's why I felt the need to put it separately. I realise now that the way I wrote it was unclear and felt like I didn't consider them as part of the 'problematic' group, so I've fixed that now, thank you for helping me realise!

and yes, i specifically only like them as snowslick, derse era SSBQ is awful i agree :]

thoughts on pitch/vacillating erisol ?

THIS IS A VERY GOOD QUESTION!

I have a.. LOT of mixed feelings about erisol personally! Ignoring my other preferred pairings, I think the two of them could potentially be good for one another under the right circumstances, but the given circumstances within the comic are just not the right ones for the two of them to work well! Eridan's jealousy and self-centeredness (amplified by their circumstances) clash too heavily with sollux's personality, leading to them hating each other in a purely platonic way.

However! Humanstuck or au Erisol is something I like thinking about a lot! If they weren't under such harsh conditions, the two of them would be a lot more inclined to wax pitch. Sollux would find Eridan's 'princely' persona and selfishness aggravating, and sollux's apathy and general demeanor would disgust Eridan. They would be the type to hateflirt openly without realising, and when somebody pointed it out, they'd both be adamantly in denial. For either of them to actually realise, it would probably take somebody telling them the other is pitch for them, and then them both being forced to confront it directly.

I could see the two potentially vacillating pitch/pale, with their insults sometimes turning into genuine advice and vice versa. Personally I can't really picture them flush, but I think under the right set of circumstances and with the right auspistice, they would help balance one another a lot.

Additional hcs bc I tend to do these:

Eridan: they/she, transfem oceangender, unlabelled sexuality, loves ouji + hime fashion, very picky about cleanliness (her own and others)

Sollux: he/they/buzz, bigender, bisexual, auDHD, chronic pain, ambulatory wheelchair user

Eridan helps Sollux clean during flareups, while making snarky comments the whole time

Sollux steals small pieces of Eridan's jewellery, just to annoy her (it works every time)

When Sollux loves Eridan's outfits, he will shower them in insults

Eridan is taller than Sollux, and they take pride in looking down on him.

They decorated Sollux's chair together to make him feel less awkward about using it. He has decorations from all buzz's quadmates.

they r quite cute!!! i don't personally ship them but honestly people who do are mega valid, their interactions can be rlly cute and I see them as the best of friends (i prefer ashen cherrypepsicola personally!)

they'd be the type to do the corny purple slushy tongue thing I feel like, and their dates would usually be like COD gamenights but dave's really bad at it

their ashen whateverthefuck is one of my fave things ever they're such a MESSS ur real as hell for this one

I'd love to see your headcanons of Meulin/Latula. I wish we had seen them interact, we were robbed Leijon/Pyrope goodness, darn it!!

You are SO real for this one, we were totally robbed!

Tl;dr - they're both "not like other girls" and they kiss about it!!

gender/sexuality hcs:

Latula - transneutral agender, they/them, bi

Meulin - catgender, she/he/mew, unlabelled

The way I see them is that Meulin knows Latula's hiding something, she knows something is different about them, but she doesn't know what. And that infuriates her!! And so does Latula's stupid gamer girl act, do they really think they're better than everyone else just because they can skate? Meulin could skate too if she wanted! She hates how Latula is just so confident all the time! It's not fair! Meulin knows she's partially just jealous, and that makes it even worse. She recognises she's waxing pitch, and that makes her hate Latula even more, and she winds herself up into a cycle.

And Latula notices this. And it infuriates them! How come Meulin can read them so well? When almost nobody else sensed something was up, how'd Meulin know? She had no right to know! Latula tries using logic to explain things quite often, and since Meulin mostly follows her instincts, they clash over that. Tula gets annoyed over Meulin's shipping and tries to debunk every single OTP she has, and successfully pisses her off in doing so. And they realise they quite enjoy making Meulin mad. Because she seems to like thwarting them so much, why shouldn't they return the favour?

I do also have some smaller hcs for these two together so here they are:

Latula will deliberately keep milk til it spoils. They can't smell it, so that's their excuse when Meulin groans about it! (they end up being able to eat meulin's meal too, win-win)

Meulin leaves 'presents' the same way cats do, usually a bird or something, and she puts them under Latula's bed. Tula doesn't find out until they clean, and by that point, there's a stash. It's so difficult to clean.

One of the things the two of them can bond over is music. Meulin still really enjoys music, bass-heavy stuff especially. So Latula would walk in and see Meulin dancing, jokingly steal her music device, and then discover she's listening to heavy metal or something. They both introduce each other to a ton of new bands!

Meulin will try and trip Latula up with their tail just to embarrass them. He's also left more than her fair share of scratches after "play"fighting with Tula!

Latula has a little plush mouse on their board just to make fun of Meulin with when they skate. She hates it. They love it.

Meulin likes rollerskating, while Latula likes skateboarding. They argue and kiss about it.

Meulin tries to help Latula with their other quads, much to their dismay. Once Latula tried to do it back, and Meulin bit them. They now tease each other about quads often.
