Text
bella ciao is not "the song from la casa de papel"
today is la festa della liberazione (italy's liberation day), april 25th is the national italian holiday commemorating the end of the nazi-fascist occupation during world war 2 and the victory of the italian resistance. "bella ciao" is the anthem of the italian partisans, it's the anthem of the fight against nazi-fascism. it reminds us of the price of freedom and all the men and women who died so that we could live in a free country.
#I'm going to be very straightforward here#I don't like the way it was used by the netflix show#like at all#I think we should leave political anthems like this alone#I love it when I see people around the world playing and singing bella ciao in the right context#and I love when it becomes an anthem for people fighting all around the world#I don't mind bella ciao on an international level what I can't stand is the exploitation of it for entertainment
