2D life simulation action RPG Call of Elyndra announced for PC - Gematsu
Quorum Games has announced Call of Elyndra, a combination of life / farming simulation with old school 2D action RPG. It will be available for PC via Steam, with the possibility of later console ports. A demo will be available on December 2. A release date was not announced.
Get the first details below.
Call of Elyndra is the debut game of Quorum Games. The game combines the best things from the Super Nintendo Entertainment System-era action RPGs (think Zelda: A Link To The Past or Ys games) with cozy farm games (like Stardew Valley or Harvest Moon). The players will be free to choose how they want to play the game—whether they want to do both farming and questing or just one or the other. The game tells a story about three adventurers (you play as one of them) who, led by an odd dream, wandered to Elyndra—a village in the middle of nowhere. After helping the locals with retrieving a child kidnapped by monsters, the three are granted a plot of land to farm. However, a military conflict between independent villages and an evil Empire is brewing. You’re thrust right into it. What will you do? All of the assets in the game are hand-made in a detailed pixel-art style, reminiscent of Game Boy Advance games. You’ll traverse through varied landscapes, from forests through mountaintops to beaches. These places will be filled with various NPCs, locations to explore, and quests to take. Aside from unveiling the story, you’ll gather various tools that will help you with combat and traversal. What if you want to stay in Elyndra and farm? Various intricacies of farming and crafting systems, along with building relationships with various villagers, will also present a great way of progressing through the game. Of course, simultaneous farming and questing are also possible. As the game combines the best of two worlds, it’s able to address certain possibly undesirable characteristics of both old school action RPGs and cozy games. Some of its features include:
An expansive storyline that is expected to last for about 30-plus hours of gameplay.
Character development- some of which will be quite substantial.
Plenty of various fun side activities like fishing to keep the gameplay varied.
A world with a deep lore inspired by various real-world ancient religions and cultures.
Roughly 30 hours of core gameplay.
A real-time combat system with dodge rolls, items, and special powers to aid you in your adventures.
The engine used to make the game used to be RPG Maker, however approximately 70 percent of the code is custom-made. You will be able to give the full version of the game a go in the near future, as the release date remains to be announced. A demo will release on December 2, which will feature roughly 30 to 45 minutes of gameplay, showing the very beginning of the game, including farming, the first dungeon, and the reveal of the primary antagonist of the game. The game is expected to be released on Steam for Windows, with the possibility of later console ports.

Do you happen to know if Sunshine Islands ever had the full marriage / wedding clothes displayed anywhere? Or were the portraits in game the only wedding clothes we were privy to?
Ah, yeah actually.
I was in the middle of scanning and cleaning them up (I've posted Witch Princess and Chelsea's previously)
They come from this book.
Perfect Data Booklet. It comes with the Sunshine Island Official Guide Book published under the Shogakukan DS label.
Here's some others.

rough translation of part of the interview with Yasuhiro Wada from the AnWL guidebook (psychoanalysis of rock, gustafa, and marlin)
this passed peer review so here is the portion where Mr. Wada went into the 3 bachelors’ psychologies, as well as their relationships to their rivals…
(highly recommend buying the guidebook it’s very much worth it)
——The new heart events have really brought out the true personalities of each of the three bachelors, which weren’t this clear in the previous work. I was especially surprised by Rock’s heart events.
Wada-san: Rock really is just a silly guy (laugh). But I hope you’ll accept him as a husband, even if he’s not what you expected. In that regard, Gustafa's personality is the complete opposite of Rock’s. If you look at their actions alone, both Rock and Gustafa seem freewheeling, but Gustafa actually has a proper sense of philosophy and aesthetics. On the other hand, Rock truly has no idea what he’s doing (laugh). Every now and then Rock will say something impressive, but that’s because he’s a very pure soul, and so he can unblushingly say all sorts of things that normal people wouldn’t ever think to say, because they’re, you know, confined by awareness of social norms. So, even though to a normal person Rock might seem careless, the reality is that he’s an absolutely pure human being.
On the other hand, Gustafa is a man who pretends to be acting “freely” from the heart after having already ruminated on his thoughts (laugh). He is a guy who has a lot on his mind, so he is always looking for an opportunity to work it in casually to someone in conversation, like, "Actually, you know…”
In the middle of these two extremes is Marlin. He is both fretful about and fiercely jealous over Celia. He is the most human of the men.
——By the way, who do you think you’re the most like out of these three?
Wada-san: Rock. If I went to the ranch as a marriage candidate, the first thing I’d think about is taking over the farm (laugh). I say that, but I’m really Gustafa… (laugh) Well… I guess I honestly feel like Gustafa who wants to be Rock.
ーA rival for love appears on the scene. What is the relationship between the rivals and the bachelors?
Wada-san: First of all, regarding the relationship between Lumina and Rock. Lumina has a serious personality, so conversely, she longs for positive and carefree types who can weather all kinds of challenges cheerfully. So even though she’s the heir to the Villa and Rock himself is destined to inherit the Inner Inn, she can see that he lives by a completely different philosophy than she does, and she hopes that she too can learn to act on her feelings without overthinking.
In the case of Nami and Gustafa, Nami is inspired by Gustafa’s words because they reveal a way of thinking that is totally brand new to her, so it would seem that Nami is completely smitten with Gustafa.
In the case of Marlin and Celia, Marlin feels a sense of kinship with Celia because she has a weak body. But Marlin has to realize that in order to protect the frail Celia, being weak isn’t enough. Only when he becomes dependable and tough can he protect the weak Celia. You can’t just sit around being timid (laughs).
