Big fan of Tilda's drug addict home not having enough bedrooms when Andrew moved in, so he and Aaron shared a room

Not only that but she couldn't be bothered to buy another bed, and since the twins are small for their age, they have to share

That's when Andrew and Aaron start sleeping back to back, Andrew facing the door and Aaron at the wall (Andrew's silent protection Aaron is unaware about). Sometimes they sleep with Aaron at the head and Andrew at the foot of the bed, still with Andrew facing the door

It's not the biggest mattress so sometimes they squish against each other, but Andrew is quietly curious as to why Aaron's touch doesn't bother him like everyone else's does. Aaron doesn't even know Andrew has a "don't touch me" boundary until they go to high school together or when Nicky shows up in the future trying to hug them both

Aaron also notices that Andrew always goes to sleep after he knows Aaron is asleep first and he is attuned to when Aaron wakes up to go drowsily pee/get water. Almost like he's monitoring Aaron, making sure Aaron returns and isn't gone for too long. When Aaron does take longer to come back to bed, Andrew searches for him (making sure Aaron isn't getting attacked by one of Tilda's rotating fuck buddies in the dead of night)

Aaron doesn't get it, doesn't know that Andrew is acting as protector. Aaron's been in this house, this place he calls home, way longer than Andrew has. He'll come back to bed after washing his hands with Andrew scooting to let Aaron back under the covers and not close his eyes until Aaron drifts off.

When they get the Columbia house with Nicky, sometimes Andrew still checks up on a sleeping Aaron, first standing in the doorway (not liking that Aaron never uses his lock), then he goes to the bedside staring down at Aaron's face, he only looks his age when sleeping

In the dorms, after Aaron switches with Neil, Andrew relinquishes his need to see if Aaron's okay physically, that he's not mysteriously hurt. He has to trust it'll be alright and Aaron never knows Andrew paid far more attention than he thought

the night tilda minyard died, both of her sons nearly followed her. andrew was in emergency surgery for five hours total, defibrillated twice, and unconscious in the icu for a full day after the car crash. he wasn't cleared to leave the hospital until a week and a half later, missing his mother's funeral.

luther hemmick found aaron in the hospital chapel, jacket wrapped tightly around himself even though he was still shivering. he was unresponsive until luther shook his shoulder roughly. told him tilda had been pronounced dead at the scene. aaron didn't speak. didn't cry. barely acknowledged that he'd heard. he let luther drag him to his feet and out of the hospital, sat in the car without a word, and walked into the house. luther slept on his sister's couch. and didn't see aaron.

aaron went to his mother's room and blocked the door. dug out the shoebox she kept under her bed and went through all of her usual steps: crush four pills, melt them down over her lighter, tie his belt around his upper arm, fill the needle, inject, rinse, repeat. ten years later he can't remember that night. he took everything she had and passed out in her bed, watching the moon glare back through the clouds.

nicky found him. nicky bruised his shoulder forcing his way into tilda's room and nicky broke several speed laws driving aaron to the emergency room. nicky knows that aaron doesn't remember and andrew doesn't know it happened at all.

absolutely bonkers that a raven player wacked andrew in the chest hard enough to throw him into the back of the goal, then swung down on his shoulder hard enough to force him to his knees. his hand dangled uselessly at his side, and this guy still managed to choke out his bf’s attacker and was the only thing holding him up as they left the court. mvp shit right there.
