“…So, is this it, then?” you asked quietly, your voice far more steady than your heart and mind.

Minho furrowed his brow deeply, looking at you with extreme concern. “How could you ask me that? Of course this isn’t it. You really think I would just leave whenever something remotely difficult comes along?”

“Well, look at me!” you cried, your emotions finally catching up to you. You gestured to your scratched face and your bruised body. You looked an absolute horror!

“I am,” Minho told you firmly. “And do you know what I see?”

“What?” you asked almost bitterly, feeling tears start to well up in your eyes.

“I see you. My girlfriend. The person I love probably the most in the world. So, you got in a car accident? So what? You know I don’t just love you because you’re beautiful.”

You turned away from him, looking down at your lap, your eyes absently focusing on the pattern of the hospital gown you were wearing.

“And you’re not beautiful just because of your looks. You’re beautiful because you’re kind and thoughtful and smart and hilarious, and you like soccer maybe even more than I do, and you know just what to say to make me feel better when I’m having a bad day, and you understand my crazy schedule, and you –”

“Okay!” you interrupted, not wanting to hear more right now.

You could hear Minho breathing. He was upset, and you could imagine the look on his face clear as day.

“I’m almost angry you would think I wouldn’t stay with you.”

“Well, I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t.”

“You should! And you should be more than glad if I did want to leave you, because that’s not the kind of person you deserve.”

You watched as a tear fell from your cheek onto your gown, and before another one could fall, you felt Minho’s hand come to rest gently on the back of your neck.

“Whether you want me or not, I’m here. You can’t get rid of me so easily.”

“I don’t want to get rid of you,” you whispered. “I’m just…”

You finally looked back up at him, holding yourself back from breaking down and sobbing.

“I have a broken leg and a dislocated shoulder. How am I going to be able to do anything?”

Minho sighed, leaning in to press his forehead to your. “We’ll figure this out. I promise.”

After a moment, you nodded, and this was enough to prompt Minho to tilt his head and kiss your lips.”I love you,” he murmured. “No matter what.”

Your heart clenched, and you wanted nothing more than to throw your arms around his neck and squeeze him. But your injuries prevented you from doing this - and would probably prevent you from doing a whole bunch of things in the coming weeks.

But… You had Minho. You knew as long as you had him by your side, you could do anything.
