Semeuse lignée
Country: France
Yvert et Tellier FR 205, Michel FR 168, Stamp Number FR 154, Stanley Gibbons FR 425
Issued on: 1926-08-07
This type of stamp belongs to the more general family of Sower types intended for postal items, designed by Oscar Roty : the motif represents an agrarian allegory , a woman called "The Sower", who sows grain against the wind. This allegory was used on the reverse of French silver coins since 1897 (50 centimes, 1 and 2 francs).
This type of Sower is called a “lineage” because of the lines drawn in the background of the main figure; a sun can be seen on the horizon, which was suppressed for the last two broadcasts. There are indeed several series, printed between 1903 to 1930, then two modern lineage Sower stamps, issued between 1960 to 1965.
The engraving is carried out by Louis-Eugène Mouchon : the mentions “O. Roty” and “L. Mouchon” are printed at the bottom of the stamp, under the motif.

We are prepared.
Country: Singapore
Series: Total Defence
Issued: October 6, 1984
---
Total Defence is Singapore’s whole-of-society national defence concept, based on the premise that every aspect of society contributes to the collective defence of the state. The strategy was first introduced in 1984 and adopted from the national defence strategies of Sweden and Switzerland. It initially consisted of five key tenets; military, civil, economic, social, and psychological, with the sixth, digital, being introduced in 2019. The strategy was amplified by the government slogan: There's A Part For Everyone, with a corresponding national song named after it when first introduced.
Total Defence Day is commemorated on 15 February annually, the day colonial Singapore surrendered to Japan in 1942 during World War II.

1960 Rome Summer Olympics
The 1960 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XVII Olympiad (Italian: Giochi della XVII Olimpiade), was an international multi-sport event that was held from August 25 to September 11, 1960, in Rome, Italy. The city of Rome had previously been awarded the administration of the 1908 Summer Olympics, but following the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 1906, Rome had no choice but to decline and pass the honour to London. The Soviet Union won the most gold and overall medals.
The Games lasted 18 days, one more than a typical Olympics would usually last nowadays.
