Apparently there’s a “kids shouldn’t be allowed in grocery stores” thing being spread on TikTok because they might scream or run around and look yeah that’s annoying but at a certain point you’ve gotta just put up with kids being a little annoying in public. If you would be so kind as to pray for my pain relief. I injured myself last year in the neck and back and it never really went away but it did get significantly better, but this week it is back and I am in some of the worst pain I have ever felt. I cannot get get any relief no matter what position I'm in or what I try.

It is Haken, a prog metal band. There are twin albums Vector and Virus that are directly connected thematically and musically, but The Mountain and Affinity are also. There's people who very much need to go outside who have attempted to put together a story as there is nothing official but I sort of like it being more poetically ambiguous. Again however the cockroachs are literal

Deeply amused when people complain "why don't people write songs about _____ and only ones about love and sex and stuff" when one of my favorite bands has three/kinda four interrelated concept albums that feature songs about cockroachs. In fact two of the albums are about the cockroach specifically. Yes it's sort of a metaphor for rot and greed and there is a larger story that is deeply beautiful but also. There is an actual cockroach who takes the center role. It's great. I used one of the songs as a "guess the song" icebreaker on a dating app but so far no young man has solved my riddles three one. Look I really really really like this band

One really good way to interact with younger kids when you don't know what to do is to just start parallel play with them. If they are building with legos or drawing or whatever, you can join them quietly and start building your own thing and I have found that naturally they will start talking and/or interacting with you non-verbally (sharing pieces with you, asking you to draw something, talking about your favorite color, asking you to draw something for them, etc;). And you don't need to talk to them in a special way either, other than being kind. "Can I have this piece? Do you want me to help? I made a house, your car fits in there." In fact, I think this generally works better for kids who are quiet or really shy too. I have a reputation with being really good with kids but the truth is that I just do this and it works most of the time.
