Stella knew that the man was just fooling around when he responds to her exaggerated ‘I miss you’s but she knew he still meant it one way or another. She just giggled at what he said and then turned to their son with a grin “Oh yes, she must be.” she said, as her husband took her coat for her. The woman thanked him and then moved towards Peter this time, god… He’s so much taller than her now too “Tell us more about this girl you’re seeing.” she then added, as she grabbed his hands and lead him towards the couch with her for a little quick chat “and again, what was she so sorry about?” the woman was ready to get back into that conversation he didn’t want to answer earlier. Oh, she’s really her mother’s daughter now. 

“Mom, please. It’s nothing.” Peter said, making it out to seem like this new girl was nothing more than a casual fling. Of course, if there was anyone who could see through Peter, it was his mother. Levi went to check on the food he had cooking on the stove before rejoining them out in the living room. “I saw a picture of her. Very beautiful girl.” His father said, sitting beside Stella now. If there was one thing Peter could say about his parents, it was that they loved each other more than any other couple he’d known. Even a few days spent apart seemed to be too long for them. “When did you see a picture?” Peter wondered, raising an eyebrow at his father. “When she was calling your phone earlier, her picture popped up. Very beautiful.” He reassured Stella, showing his approval. He didn’t know the girl, but he liked the way his son blushed every time they mentioned her.

Stella kissed back her loving husband and snaked her arms around his waist, clinging to him “Aww, I missed you my love.” she said, when it has only been a few days since Levi left her and arrived there. The woman liked to exagerrate their distance as soon as their children arrived. Those long one month hunts or missions, she didn’t miss those. It was all fun and what not back then but they’re both old and would obviously rather just spend their days together “Peter here, has a beautifu sounding girlfriend apparently?” she then added, giggling as she turned to their boy with a smirk. Her arms still clung to her husband of many years.

“I’ve missed you more. You are as beautiful as the day I met you.” Levi said, cupping her face before letting her go. But she still clung to him so he simply wrapped his arms around the small woman. Peter rolled his eyes at them. His father liked to exaggerate their distance almost as much as his mother did. Though Stella seemed to do it out of love, Levi just did it because he found it amusing. Sometimes he did it even when they had spent only hours apart - if Peter could roll his eyes any harder, he would. “She’s not my girlfriend,” Peter said. “I only just started seeing her.” Moon came up to greet Stella as they talked. “Well don’t wait too long to ask her. I sent Peter over to see the girl with some kanelbulle. If she’s not already in love with him, she is now.” Levi explained to his wife, letting her go so he could take her coat for her.

Stella smiled at her son, then she giggled when the boy apologized once more “Don’t worry sweetheart, I understand.” she started “I’m sure he’ll accept it better from you than me.” she then said, shrugging as she tucked her phone away now “Now tell me more about work, I’d like to hear what you do there.” she now added, glancing back and forth from the window to his face. Didn’t take long until they reached his apartment building though.

Peter smiled at his mother, doing just that. They talked all the way up until they reached his apartment, Peter soon parking his father’s truck inside the parking garage. After taking the elevator up, Peter let his mother into the apartment and followed after. The entire apartment smelled delicious. Luna had left earlier the previous day, which explained why his tracker put his sister in Texas. His tracker hadn’t been wrong, Peter knew that. She didn’t need to ask her brother’s permission, but it would have been nice to have been warned ahead of time before testing out a tech that would give away whatever place she was hunting from. Especially now that their mother was visiting. Peter was starting to think this new addition to his father’s truck was not a very good idea after all. “We’re home!” Peter called out. Levi came out of the kitchen then, smiling at the sight of his wife and immediately giving her a kiss.

“Oh, sure. Just wanna say sorry about earlier again, before I go. So yeah, sorry!” Ember giggled awkwardly at the end “and bye! Stay safe!” she then said, before hanging up. With that, Stella raised an eyebrow at the boy “I like her already.” she teased. Telling him to be safe, it’s sweet and not a lot of people really say that to others. With that, the woman then nodded and got her phone out “Does your Father even know that you’ve been upgrading his truck.” she now added, already hacking into the system to check out what the boy has been up to.

Peter laughed a bit awkwardly before saying his goodbyes to Ember. He ignored his mother’s teasing, of course. “Uh no. He doesn’t know and don’t you dare tell him. I wanted to surprise him. I just hooked it up today,” Peter said, explaining it to his mother. “Anyway, he’s always on the phone when he’s driving. It’s not safe,” Peter shrugged. “But that’s not why I did it. Listen to this.” He cleared his throat. “Orson, locate Luna.” There was only a moment before the new system responded. “Dallas, Texas. Twenty two hours, forty nine minutes, and six seconds away.” Peter shared a look with his mother. “Uh, sorry. That’s not right. I still have to work out some kinks. Anyway, I know Dad is always going out of his way to track us down. Thought I might make his job a little easier. It connects to each of the trackers in our cars.”

Stella looked out the window as the system said someone was calling “Ember.” she repeated, as the system then misheard what the man said. Making the woman smile and let out a small giggle to herself. She looked at her son, he’s smart but he gets so stressed out about things so much that he ends up failing.”Hey Peter!” Ember said “You home yet?” she then asked, as some small chatter went on at the background. Emily and Elizabeth just catching up really “She sounds pretty.” the woman then teased in a low whisper “What?” the girl thought Peter said something.

Peter’s brows furrowed. He was going to have to fix that later. If he’d wanted a system that screwed up, he would have just bought one. He glanced at his mother, his face going red at her teasing. “Shh,” he told his mother. Of course Ember would call just as Peter was thinking of her. “Uh, nothing. Hey listen, Ember. I just picked my mother up from the airport. We’re headed home. Now’s not really a great time. Can I call you back later?” He asked her.

Stella smiled at her boy, he’ll always be a boy to her despite how much older he already is “Well, remember that boy who thought you two were dating?” the woman smirked “I thought it would have sparked some interest in you, but I guess not.” she then said, shrugging “You do look so much happier than I last saw you dear.” she now added “Thought there may be a girl I didn’t know about?” the woman continued to tease. She knew it when her son had someone special. He’s had a few, each a different feel to them each time. Now seemed like that moment, but in a much more special way in all honesty.

“Yeah, Mom. I was there. I remember,” he said, rolling his eyes when she brought that little incident up. When she then mentioned a girl, that made Peter blush. Was it that obvious? While Peter wouldn’t go so far as to say he was in love with Ember, he definitely was deep in like with her. Ever since watching that girl sing in the bar that very first night, many of his thoughts were of Ember. “Well...” Peter started. Suddenly the phone rang over the system he’d just installed into his car. “Ember Mcclain calling,” the system announced. “Uh, take a message,” Peter said quickly, sending the call to voicemail. “Answering call,” the system said instead, making Peter glance towards his mother. “Uh, I uh, still have a few kinks to work out. Hello?” He answered over the speaker now.

Stella smiled at what Peter said at first, then she giggled when he said he wasn’t supposed to tell if grandma was in town. With that, she just nodded and looked at the other “How is your job my love, I hope you’re liking it and keeping yourself safe.” she then said, as she reached out to push his hair back from his eyes. Always be safe, take calculated risks. It’s honestly just Levi who never listens to her on that one, but he has learned to after getting children" Any pretty co-workers?“ she now teased with a smirk.

Peter laughed. “I’m always safe, Mom.” If anything, it was Luna that she had to worry about. Sure, Peter had his moments as a teenager. But he’d always been the more responsible one when it mattered most. “I work mostly with men. So handsome maybe, but not pretty,” Peter grinned. But he hesitated, something Stella would probably notice because of how well she knew her son. He hadn’t told her about Ember yet. His father had a vague idea that he was seeing a girl. But that was nothing new or out of the ordinary. Peter almost always had some girl around him, if he wanted them there or not.

Stella admired how much her boy turned out to look like so much like her handsome husband when they first met. Well, he was younger but his build was of the older man at that time. The woman accepted his help to get her in his Father’s truck, honestly loving the old truck more and more “It was alright.” she responded, as she strapped on her seat belt “I would have taken the jet if I didn’t have a mission here.” she then said, shrugging as she then looked at the other and gave him a smile “Sounds delicous.” she giggled, even if the boy did’t even tell her what it was yet. Heck, maybe he does’t know either but they both knew it would be great “Also, I know my Mother is here. She thinks she’s so sneaky. Did she drop by yet?” she then giggled once more at that. 

Peter laughed. “If Dad’s cooking, it probably is,” he teased, both knowing that his father didn’t let their mother anywhere near the kitchen when it came to dinner time. Sure the couple would chat as he cooked - but as soon as she started touching things Levi would shoo her out. Stella was ‘accident prone’ as Levi liked to put it. But really, she was his distraction when he was busy cooking. The good kind, of course. But still a distraction. When his mother brought up grandma Emily, Peter couldn’t help but smile. Of course she would figure it out. There were no sneaking anything past this woman. There never was. “I’m not supposed to say,” Peter grinned, hinting that he’d promised not to say anything. Judging by the fact that not even his father knew, it was safe to say Peter was the only one who had seen grandma Emily. Luna would have spilled the beans by now too, though she was better at keeping secrets than anyone really knew.
