Merch yr Eog.
This image is a rare look into the process that it takes to create a piece of performance as you never really see the writing stages when it's yet to get onto it's feet. Rebel Women Staging Ancient Greek Drama Today John Dillon and S.E. Wilmer
This written analysis is going to be specifically about the chapter... Rebel women 11. The violence of Clytemnestra pg. 215 written by James Diggle Wilmer, S. and Dillon, J. (2014). Rebel Women. 9th ed. London: Bloomsbury Publishing, pp.215-221. This text is written in an approachable and simplistic way that doesn’t scare the reader but is still detailed enough to give sufficient information and without the writing overwhelming the reader with the information, the Author(s) Wilmer and Dillon use appropriate punctuation and length of their sentences to draw the reader in deeper as the shorter and more straight to the point the sentence is the easier it is to apply it into a quotation. For example the first statement is simple and straight to the point of what the authors are trying to convey to the reader “You cannot show murder on the greek Tragic stage” This allows the reader to establish what they are reading and already tells the reader wether this with have the information they need meaning they wont waste their time. The information can be applied through essay’s or presentations specifically in the form of quotes and giving context to a point, as I did use this particular section of the book for my presentation which got a high mark because of the context it allowed me to give to my points, especially into the character of Clytemnestra and her murder of Agamemnon which was directly referenced in my presentation from this book. A lot of the information available in this book is a good tool kit for giving context to a point or from quotes that specifically reference the point the writer is making. While this book however was paramount in my work from this chapter, The entirety of the book is written in a similar format and has a lot of information on Greek plays but also the Greek society they were performed in meaning this book is a good resource in terms of society as well as plays. One of the ways it could have been a much more valuable and useful source was if the text had been able to show more contrast between the modern versions of violence and murder on stage in comparison to when Agamemnon was written to be performed. It lacks in imagery as well which considering the drastic change in attitudes towards violence on stage and the way it is portrayed now, it would've been valuable to have some contrasting images to cement the point across to the reader.

Drama Theory : Critical Approaches to modern British drama
This particular analysis is on the whole of the book. Drama Theory Written by Peter Buse Buse, Peter. Drama + Theory. 1st ed. Manchester: Manchester University Press, 2005. Print. This book is written in a sophisticated pattern but doesn’t provide a lot of information in the first few sentences meaning you could have wasted time reading through a lengthy chapter than had nothing to do with what you wanted to say. The cover of the book makes it stand out which, especially in a course like drama which relies heavily on the audience to understand the language of sight, makes the reader become drawn to taking that book of the shelves. In terms of imagery however this book would’ve benefited from an image here or there to not only entice the reader into using it in their work but also it would have allowed the reader to understand what they were trying to say giving the information context. This text is applicable as It has been used in a past assessment which got a top grade however only a small section of it was used as I found elements of the text I used to be irrelevant, I felt it went of topic and allowed the reader to get sidetracked in what they want. In some aspects however the information I did use was utilised correctly and effective in getting my point across and gave me a good source of context in reference to certain aspects of my assignment. As a whole, while this book has a lot of valuable information, its inability to be straight to the point at the beginning of the paragraph allows the reader to be put off before the book gets into any real depth stopping someone from using this as a viable source in the future.

Doctor Faustus Play Text Review
Marlowe, Christopher. Doctor Faustus. Ed. Roma Gill & Ros King. London: Bloomsbury Publishing, 2008. Web. 1 Mar. 2017. Doctor Faustus was originally written in 1592 which was a deeply religious time in earth’s history especially in christianity even in Germany where the majority of the population is christianity according to a survey taken in 2015 which stated 59.4% of the population in Germany follow the christian religion. causing a play like Doctor Faustus which had deeply religious connotation to of had a massive impact. When this play was written Germany was recovering from the numerous fights from the protestants revolutions against the catholic church. Considering that Doctor Faustus is widely known to be Hellish theatre, it’s reception would’ve been met with wonder and awe however it could’ve possibly been met with a lot of trepidation as because of the religious background and beliefs a lot if not all the audience would’ve believed that it was possible for all events to happen. For example as the crux of christianity was the divide between heaven and hell, people genuinely believed that demons from hell would take them away after death if they lived their life in sin, as was done to Faustus, therefore a play like this would’ve only cemented the fear that followers of christianity already had. In today's audience people are a lot more open about religion and their beliefs therefore if it was to be performed in today's society then it would be received a lot more easily as people of all religious views can get behind some aspect of this play, whether it be the ability to laugh it off and only see it as entertainment for atheists or member of the satanic church there to learn more about hellish theatre or a christian who is not as devout centuries ago. Plays like this when bought into the 21st century become more of a learning experience and a chance for all members of religion to come together to enjoy a piece of theatre whereas it would of been a point of controversy when first performed. All around this play could have an effect on all types of audience as the crux of its plot will always hold those religious connotations of heaven and hell and despite humanities evolution religion of any type will always be a part of what makes up society.

Merch Yr Eog Theatre Review
On Tuesday the 25th of October In the Wales Millennium Centre the theatre group Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru put on a stylistic performance of their play Merch yr Eog. This Performances use of projection and minimal set allowed the audience to interpret the environment as they found appropriate. Merch yr Eog did this by first having on stage a simplistic rock like feature in the centre of the stage for the first two scenes. This also gave the actors a structure to help centre and move their bodies around the stage, this was effective as it gave not only the actors a focal point for their bodies but also gave the audience a clear focus point as the acting was set around the rock structure. This performances use of projection created a unique experience where you, as an audience member can see what the actor is seeing. The way Genedlaethol Cymru done this was by having the person portraying Mair’s brother on the back wall in the form of a Skype call, this allowed the audience to view the conversation from Mair’s perspective without having to move from their seat. This was also effective in allowing us to feel Mair’s frustration when the call started to break up especially because certain audience members had struggled to set up the technology needed to understand the play more deeply called Sibwrd. This made this element of the set stand out a lot more than other aspects as it was relatable to a percentage of the audience. However because of the language barrier between the performance, actors and the audience the set could’ve been used more effectively to convey the story of the characters, instead the minimalistic style made the story seem incredibly vague and didn’t allow the audience the time to concentrate on the acting of the performers, instead they were trying to decipher the meaning behind certain elements of the set, For example the simplistic lit up, empty fish tank that was brought out twice in the performance took the focus from the audiences while they were trying to decipher what had happened in the previous scene.

Love, Lies and Taxidermy Theatre Review
On Wednesday the 16th of November the theatre company PAINES PLOUGH & THEATR CLWYD put on a performance of their show Love, Lies and Taxidermy in the Sherman Theatre. This performance created a fun filled atmosphere for the audience and allowed them to really connect and interact with the audience through their choice of audience staging and audience interaction. One way they did this was through their choice to have the audience in the round, meaning everyone was able to see what was happening in the circle and by then having two seats within each third section of the circle open it allowed the actors to interact with the person sitting next to them or even if they weren’t speaking to someone it made the audience feel as if they were a part of the performance. Another way in which this theatre group created a fun filled atmosphere was through their ability to change characters, each character played a minimum of three other characters, however this meant that the audience had to be very active and weren’t able to sit back and enjoy the show as a piece of entertainment rather than educational performance. This meant however that even the audience members that were able to pay close attention to detail were unable keep up making the piece unclear some of the time. One of the downsides to the performance put on by PAINES PLOUGH & THEATR CLWYD, was it failed to make you question why it was on stage. unfortunately in todays society if you have to question why a piece has been put on stage then it has not created the impact that is required of a performance in todays political issues, however this meant that it was easier to be a passive audience member as it never made the audience really question why they were watching and simply became a piece of entertainment.
