Persephone’s Pomegranate
A scene from the novel Carat by Korean author, 메카니스트.
This illustration wasn’t accurate of the scene, but more a representation of the whole plot and Seokryu, the main character. His name means Pomegranate in Korean and he was one of the most relatable and interesting characters I had read in a while.
Being a closed off, perfectionist and workaholic, myself, Seokyru made me feel a lot of things throughout the book.
I hope to read more of this author’s books in the future. They seem to always have an interesting concept.

Carat Mock Cover
Carat is a novel by Korean author, 메카니스트.
The book was so well written that I wanted to try expressing my appreciation for it with a mock cover. I had a lot of fun drawing the two characters and showing their interesting dynamic. Although this book hasn’t been translated into English yet, I hope to see it reach more readers overseas soon!
Other than this mock cover, I also drew an illustration of a scene from the book as well.

"Grapes"
The sunlight bounced off the overripe grapes that fell around you.
You grinned and pulled my arm with all your weight until we tumbled together onto the dry summer fields.
“They say if you share a grape, you will share a dream.”
“Does that mean I can see you even when I’m asleep?” I ask.
“No, silly! Not that sort of dream.”
“Oh.” I laugh out loud and feel your cool hands against my hot face. I don’t know if it’s the wine or the heat of July anymore. You nestle closer, and the grit of the soil beneath us doesn’t feel so rough against my back anymore as I hold you.
“But then again…” you say with a shy gleam in your eyes, “I wouldn’t mind seeing you tonight.”
