It's almost comical how much bad luck/annoyances and other unpleasantness I've had these two-three weeks.

First I started displaying classic allergy symptoms in relation to my birds. Allergy medication helped a bit but i still felt miserable.

Then, Friday the 13th, on my day off, I, or my car with me in it, was slammed into by a car driving behind me. I had to spend a few hours in the cold waiting for a towtruck while we figured out insurance and shit.

Of course I got sick.

My car got pronounced a total loss. My insurance is purely to cover expenses if I damage someone else's car so they paid nothing. Other guy's insurance DID give me the restworth(?) of my poor car.

The 15th was the 1st year anniversary of my 18 year old dog's death so I was already feeling delicate.

The public transport I had to take because of no car keeps charging my card incorrectly so i have to run after that to fix it.

AND TODAY I took a test on a whim and discovered that for the first time ever, I've contracted covid. Took two just because test 1 had technically expired but the second one was sadly also positive. I got suspicious because shit tasted different and I couldn't pick up smells well anymore.

2025 MUST become a year of fortune to get the balance right again, lmao

Not to start yapping randomly but I think there is something to be said on how certain fandom characterization of Maverick ignores the depth in his character and boils him down to a reckless, chaotic man who is very infantilized despite of him being A Grown Man. And this is largely because people buy Maverick's facade. There was a very good passage in 'Tom Cruise: Anatomy of an Actor' by Amy Nicholson where she talks about how Cruise in 1986 was portraying a man (Maverick) who himself is playing the part of a cocky man. He does not have an abundance of reckless confidence, it's an act, one that unravels when you look at his moments of vulnerability (ex. the nighttime scene with Goose). This facade is also much mellower in Top Gun: Maverick as Mav has aged, so it's actually really interesting how some people tend to lean back on TG86!Maverick's mask when characterizing him. You know you've fucked up when you go to a doctor and the thing you have wrong with you has been named after an occupation that isn't a thing anymore. Like imagine a doctor looking at you and going "yeah you've got ox-drawn ploughman's disease. We don't even test for that anymore. Yeah the reason you've never heard of it is because the last known case was in 1927 and happened to some guy who was like 98 years old and didn't believe in modern medicine of the time. What the fuck have you been up to."

SOMEone let it slip that big bad Iceman goes a bit wobbly over fangs~ Slider and Mav (werewolf and succubus flavor respectively) very benevolently strive to meet Ice's needs as often as they can, they're good like that.

Meanwhile Ice is very aware of what they are doing and even though he's kinda offended they think he's that easy, he's infuriated to admit they're 100% right uwu ♥

I swear, if I find out the issue I've been having with my public transport card working unreliably, the issue I've been complaining about in polite but increasing amounts of exasperation to several representatives, THAT issue

If I find out it's all because I actually did something wrong because I honestly didn't realise there even were different gates to choose from, I might actually have to dig a hole and hide in there forEVER.
